About this property
Farm-style retreat for large groups near downtown Spokane events, Podium + Arena
Staying at Rooted and Rested urban farm is a step back in time. The heart of the farm is to grow food and raise animals in the city and build community. You will find the Centennial Trail within walking distance from our house, which will drop you right in the heart of downtown. The smell of freshly-made donuts from the mom and pop shop on the corner might draw you in on an early morning. There is no TV or microwave because we believe in fostering presence and slowness. The charming 1907 features are often referred to as feeling like "grandma's house." The clucks of the chickens laying their eggs might awaken a light sleeper, and the guard cat Pete will take all the love he can get. He will even try to convince you he belongs inside, don't be fooled.
We value living as close to nature as possible. We reduce chemicals and waste everywhere we can. We encourage recycling and composting during your stay, although it isn't required. We clean with eco-friendly housekeeping products and laundry detergents. We love to hang dry! So if the laundry is crunchy, it is an invitation to appreciate the solar dryer. We recognize we are not the traditional "comfortable" American home. We deeply want to invite guests into the farm experience and hope that it will be meaningful.
This house is a staple in our community. It is designed to host and gather people. This home has held many parties, events, and celebrations, as well as guests from all around the world. We are so honored to host you and your group. We hope that you find the magic of the farm, as so many other guests and, of course, we ourselves do.
During your stay, you will likely cross paths with neighbors and possibly tenders of the garden and animals. Our heart is to foster community and be a light in the world. I hope that you experience that deeply during your stay.
We do not take lightly your decision to invest in staying at our farm. Your decision to stay here is funding the uplifting of an entire community. Your stay funds garbage walks, birthday cakes, car parts, community dinners, and so much more. Your stay is the ripple effect. Thank you for being on the journey with us.
The best is yet to come, Dakota and Amie Torkelson
