Charming, Private & Peaceful Waterfront Farmhouse, Studio and Camp
Rented Saturday to Saturday during the summer season the completely renovated Gott Farm sleeps 8 (including the Camp that sits lakeside). The Studio (queen bed and a spinet piano) is available for additional $500 a week (Including cleaning). During the beautiful fall season, rentals are opened up to a minimum of two nights, not limited to the weekends.
Staying at the Gott Farm is taking a step out of hectic daily life and into a place that allows you to be as busy or quiet as you choose.
There is a rear deck with a propane grill and outdoor furniture, and another patio with a great lake view and outdoor table and chairs. There is a wooden picnic table down lakeside, overlooking the water.
The farm has blueberry bushes, blackberries and raspberries. Wildlife is all around, all the year round. There are eagles, osprey, vultures and loons as well as all the smaller birds of the meadows and woods. There are deer and fox, porcupine and wild turkeys that roam across the farm.
There are fields and woods to explore and play in. And a tree swing.
The lake is famous for its bass tournaments so if you like to fish you are in luck! The lake has two public access boat launches, and is large enough for guests to enjoy sailing, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, almost any kind of water sport (except no jet skis). Swimming, snorkeling, or just floating, the lake is the place to be on hot summer days!
The Village of Wayne and nearby Winthrop will provide everything you need for a complete getaway. But if you want to see the sights, the Wondrous Wayne website outlines many day trips, attractions and activities within easy driving distance. There are hikes up nearby "mountains" and down to a neighboring lake, perfect for children, with a picnic at the end and a different route to return. The Monmouth Theater, at the south end of the Lake, is a New York summer stock specialty.
With 10 acres of fields and woods, 450 ft of lakeshore and a dock that takes you out over the water, with stone fence lines that vector deep into the woods, the farm continues to be a serene retreat from a hectic world.
The farm itself has all kinds of room outdoors for running and hiding and playing. The lake is its own irresistible attraction. The Androscoggin Yacht Club has the best sandy beaches and facilities for families. Be our guest!
If you want to explore central Maine and the oceanfront, it's only a little over an hour's drive to Reid State Park on the ocean. With a stop at the A-1 Diner in Gardiner, that's a day trip that always brings satisfaction. Going to Belfast and Camden take you to Penobscot Bay, a glorious place! Portland, one of the most talked about small cities on the east coast, is just an hour southeast.
If you like shopping, the giant and ever-expanding Marketplace Mall in Augusta can't be beat. Plus, Freeport is only 30 miles away to the south.
You always return home to the quiet, the wind in the trees, and at night, the call of the great horned owls down in the woods. Perfect.

The property was ideally situated for our purposes. It slept our 9 adults comfortably with the studio. We made good use of the waterfront and enjoyed watching the lake from the cliff chairs.
The property is beautiful and overlooks the lake, it is quiet and a great place to get away. Our stay included fishing, swimming, and walking to a near by icecream stand. We saw a deer on the property, all kids of birds, and generally enjoyed all the scenery; The property was well managed and cared for, it had just about everything needed, including pack-n-play for our baby to use, we even found some berries outdoors. Kids loved the place.
Wonderful vacation with the family... the Gott Farm and the beautiful Androscoggin Lake once again provided our family with a wonderful vacation and lifelong memories!
Thank you!

Private, peaceful waterfront with lots of history and wildlife.
We had 2 generations who all grew up on the lake. It was wonderful to visit friends and family. The home was well stocked with spices, pots, cooking pans, food wraps, etc. The home had games and books and the beds and bedding were excellent. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We look forward to our next visit!
Property, owners, caretakers, townspeople all A-rated. Every room, every view, every bench, picnic table, deck were thoroughly appreciated by every age range (17-83). Highly recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway with people you love. Lots of space on property. I could add more--all positive details--but will stop now.
We grew up on the lake and our family and friends are all in the area. The property is just beautiful with sunset views and long views of the lake from the top of the rocks. The kitchen is well stocked and the owners are delightful. Enjoyed many card games around the big kitchen table. Provided us with more than everything including hand made bug spray! :) Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Our three generation family stayed at the Gott property for a week. Everything about it was wonderful: the grassy lawn with the blueberry garden, the rope swing, the tall majestic ancient trees, the living spaces (we used all three), the sunsets, the well stocked kitchen, the outside sitting areas, and the lake! We fished (caught a 17" large mouth bass from the dock!), swam, explored by boat, and made several trips to Tubbys for ice cream. We all agreed that it was our best family vacation on a Maine lake ever.
The Gott Farm property is lovely. We enjoyed the lake tremendously. We were very surprised to discover that the camp by the lake and the garage apartment had no running water and that it was severely discouraged to use the toilet in the lakeside camp. This was not very clear in the description of the property. We also found the house to be not especially clean. Otherwise, we loved the area and convenience of being so near to the quaint downtown of Wayne, Maine. The Property manager was great and very available, with good communication.
Gott Farm is an amazing property. We loved the beautiful house and camp overlooking the lake. The house is well stocked with every tool a cook could need. We had small children , parents and grandparents sleeping in the main house. We did wish there was one other large bed instead of 2 rooms with twin beds in the main house. The only downside to our trip was the water quality in the lake. Halfway through our week algae blooms were detected and we could not swim after that. Obviously this is out of the owners’ hands and they alerted us immediately. Communication with the owners and Margo was wonderful. If you are looking for a beautiful property to enjoy a family vacation this is it.
Our Intentions Group wanted a setting of serenity. and privacy, inspiring vistas, and accommodations for nine adults. This is the only place that met all of our requirements—but if there had been 100 other choices we would have chosen this one hands down. We couldn't have asked for more from an excellent host and the beautiful surroundings of Gott's Farm on Androscoggin Lake for our October gathering. The farmhouse itself—with its old wood beam ceiling and farm table for 10—was warm an inviting from the moment we walked in. The kitchen was completely outfitted, the layout was spacious, the couches were comfy and well situated for group talking, and there was a cord of wood for the wonderful stove in the middle of the room. We'll be booking this one for years to come.
We were a late booking, maybe 3-4 weeks, prior to our visit so I was naturally apprehensive as to why the property was available. Whatever the reason, it was a blessing to my family and me. We have extended family that lives in the area and they were able to comfortably visit , BBQ, play whiffle ball, swim and just lounge in the peaceful breezes of Androscoggin Lake. The house instantly reminds you of an old English cottage but has plenty of space inside. The house was allocated with enough amenities to cook for our group and our visitors. There were plenty of games, sports gear (whiffle ball was awesome and played by all). What I cannot say enough about is the peace and quiet the location provided. When the loons broke the silence, it brought a smile and for folks that have never vacationed in Maine, you get used to it pretty quickly. Our host and the management team were helpful leading up to our visit with recommendations (must go to Tubby's for ice cream and lobster rolls!) and Hildie was very helpful showing us around the property. I cannot say enough how lucky we were to come across this property and I would stay there again without hesitation. Thank you again.
My family and I greatly enjoyed staying on the Gott Farm. We are from the area and return every year to visit family and friends. We have stayed at other camps in the past and appreciated the large amount of space and privacy at the Gott Farm. The level of thoughtfulness in how the owners organized and prepared for our visit was exceptional. We prefer to cook and entertain onsite when we visit Maine. Doing so was very easy due to the layout, large kitchen table, dishware, varied/plentiful cooking/serving supplies, dish washer, good quality grill, plenty of parking, numerous board/yard games, places to sit outside, beautiful views, mooring for the boat we rented, private dock, etc.
Having access to a full size washer and dryer was so convenient.
Communication with the team supporting us was superb. Our host, Margo, met us at the camp on check-in day to make sure we had everything we needed and to provide us with local points of interest.
This review would not be complete without pointing out that the owners have gone to great lengths to simplify/organize the camp. For example, they put together a ring binder that contains the history of Gott Farm, a comprehensive list of relevant telephone numbers, local points of interest, instructions for the electronics, a check out list, etc.
to sum it up, my family and I had a great time! We highly recommend the Gott Farm!
Our family of my husband and I and our 3 children ages 19, 18 and 11 years had a wonderful time at this piece of perfection , the Gott Farm, in Wayne Maine on Androscoggin Lake! The description is spot on! 12 acres of peaceful bliss - lake frontage with dock and separate camp house on water plus the main house with original 200 yo beams and wide plank wood floors, fully stocked kitchen, comfy rooms to read and play games, tv , great Wi-Fi , and a spotless/?new outdoor grill with back deck , 3 bedrooms in main house with clean sheets, 2 bathrooms with more clean towels than a hotel - who could ask for more? We canoed, paddle boarded , kayaked and swam every day in the beautiful clean lake (local boating place delivered the canoe and paddle board to us and we brought our kayaks) and we ate delicious baked goods and sandwiches from the awesome bakery at the General store in Wayne - went strawberry picking plus hiked Mount Pisga! Overall beautiful setting, spectacular comfortable clean house, a peaceful beautiful setting , and clear refreshing clean water! Who could ask for more? Also the owners and caretaker were so responsive with questions I had - like immediately ! Oh I almost forgot there were fresh cut beautiful flowers awaiting us and a loaf of yummy sourdough rye bread and chocolate chip cookies from the local bakery also awaiting us when we arrived as well as Hilde the wonderful kind caretaker who met us and showed us everything ! Seriously I will want to go back again and again !
We had a great two-week stay! We were looking for a private lake retreat and it's exactly what we got. The house is very comfortable with a well stocked kitchen, nice grill, great beds and linens, and lots of games and other amenities. We have several family members with allergies and this was the best lake rental we've ever been to in terms of mustiness.
The property is beautiful and provided lots of space for kids to frolic. We had several epic croquet tournaments. And the blueberry bushes were a delicious surprise.
The sunsets are amazing with islands in the foreground and mountains in the background!
We had many friends with children come in and out over the two weeks and everyone enjoyed their stay. We made use of the camp and the studio, both have great views of the lake.
Tom, the property manager, went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable. And WAP John, the owner, was also available for any questions. It was clear that they wanted us to have a fun, carefree time, which we very much appreciated. And the pie on arrival was most welcoming!
With small children and grandparents visiting, we wished that the lake access was easier. There's a steep decline to the lake, and then a rocky spot before you reach the dock. The shoreline is also rocky. We rented several kayaks and a SUP and had some difficulty getting them in and out of the water. Water shoes are a must here! Also of note, the dock will not support a boat.
Tubbies and the General Store both make great sandwiches, and the Farmer's Market on Saturdays, although small, was fantastic. Hannaford's is only 15 minutes away.
Overall, we enjoyed our time at Gott Farm immensely!
We had the best week at Gott Farm! We utilized the main house, camp house and studio, all 3 were clean and had everything we needed.
Property is perfect for yard games which we did every night.
Property managers were very responsive and easy to work with.
We will definitely be back! ;)
Property manager and owners were both extremely responsive to any issues we came across!

Beautiful and peaceful house and surroundings
The house is very old, but it is modern and very comfortable. The kitchen is particularly well-appointed, with a full complement of dishes, pots and pans, and even an extensive array of spices. The grounds surrounding the house are extensive, and very beautiful and serene. My wife and I stayed in the "camp", while children and grandchildren stayed in the house. The camp, which is a short distance from the house, is rustic (electricity but no running water), and is perched on a ledge right over the lake, with a spectacular view of lake and woods. We loved staying there. Tom, the local manager, was friendly and very available. When the coffee maker stopped working he brought a replacement within the hour, accompanied by a jar of home-made salsa. The only challenge we experienced during our stay was that access to the lake was tricky, due to a steep descent to the dock. The owner is aware of this, and has plans to upgrade access before the 2019 season.

Gott Farm exceeded our expectations, which were very high! Beauty, tranquility, charm, seclusion.
We were completely captivated by Gott Farm - from its private location to the spectacular lake, the charming camp, and the lovely, historic, and lovingly restored and decorated farmhouse. The kitchen contains every single accoutrement needed to prepare every meal, the living spaces are comfortable and homey, the bathroom is spacious and convenient, perfect for a big family. The outdoor spaces are plentiful and afford gorgeous views. We loved the village of Wayne, and the people there were so friendly, helpful, and kind. The General Store has amazing pastries and muffins, and we found wonderful treasures in Bittersweet Antiques. We highly recommend renting a boat to explore the islands of Lake Androscoggin, especially Norris Island with its black sand beach! We particularly appreciated the owners’ meticulous and detailed notebook of instructions, general info, recommendations, and background of their beautiful property, not to mention a homemade “welcome blueberry pie” when we arrived. Of all the vacation home rentals we have visited, Gott Farm tops them all by far. It was a dream vacation, and we will be back for sure! - Brenda and Jeff Acuff, Alli, Caroline & Jack
