The apartment was cute and in a good location, but it became clear that the building is still under construction and not yet completed. The elevator being not operational yet meant hauling luggage up four flights of stairs, which would be manageable if the only staircase wasn’t narrow marble and covered in drywall dust making it slippery and difficult to navigate. Once inside the room, which was cute, there were a number of issues. Several outlets did not work, the non-adjustable shower head sprays outside of the shower door soaking the bathroom floor, the hairdryer provided did not work, and possibly the worst part was the HVAC system not working properly. Our room got up to 78 overnight despite being set at 68, it was incredibly loud each time it kicked on, and was circulating out a thin layer of construction dust that accumulated on all of our things by the end of day 2 as well as breathing it in. The automatic codes locked us out of our room during the checkout process, which only took as long as it did due to the narrow staircase everyone was trying to use at the same time to leave. The staircase at the other end leads to a “do not enter” construction zone that does not allow access back up into th apartment, resulting in being locked out and having to circumvent the entire building to get back inside through the main entrance. The host was responsive to my messages, but overall seemed frustrated at my many communications instead of being apologetic about the issues.
