About this property

Spacious Kansas Lodge & Cabin for Group Getaways near Melvern Lake, Topeka, Emporia & Lawrence

In the heart of Mennonite country on the western outskirts of Mount Forest amongst hundreds of acres of farm land. No close neighbours. Property has solar panels and is a half an acre in size. This rustic cabin has a tin roof....great to listen to the gentle rain as it falls. Lots of windows to hear the rustle of the poplar trees blowing in the wind, the occasional yipping of coyotes in the distance and song birds in the morning. All materials in the construction of the cabin and outhouse are reclaimed from demolitions (plus momentoes from estates). The 2" thick floor planking came from an old school house, the outhouse door from a church and wall panelling from a local hotel. Located at the back of our property for full privacy. There is a 12' tented (rainproof and netted) gazebo with wicker furniture, patio table and table top BBQ. Fire pit on patio stones. Nearby are the abandoned RR tracks that go for miles! Great for biking, dog walking and hiking. Two golf courses within 10 miles. Riding stable nearby and fishing in our many streams in the area. Two casinoes in the area. Cot available. Bedding and towels supplied. Bring your own food.
