The Space
El’s Homes – Paje Garden One-Bedroom is a small but thoughtfully designed apartment on the ground floor of a two-storey, mansion-style house inside a large, tree-filled and secure (gated) compound (close to an acre).
The apartment is fully self-contained, with:
A bedroom with a comfortable bed, AC, and a mosquito net
A living room with a seating area, AC, and a kitchenette
A bathroom with a hot shower
A small private verandah at the front, perfect for morning coffee or an evening drink
Décor is light and beach-inspired, bringing in natural textures, neutral tones, and a few coastal touches to match Paje’s relaxed vibe.
It’s a great fit for:
Solo travellers
Couples
Remote workers who want a quiet base near the ocean
The compound itself is full of greenery and birds, so you get a calm, local feel rather than a busy main road or party strip setting.
Location
The apartment is in Paje, a village on the southeast coast of Zanzibar, known for its long white-sand beach, shallow turquoise lagoon, and world-class kitesurfing conditions.
Paje has grown into a kitesurfing hotspot, with consistent winds, a reef-protected lagoon, and plenty of kite schools along the beach.
You’ll also find beach bars, cafés, relaxed restaurants, and small shops, while the village behind the beach keeps a more traditional Swahili feel.
From the apartment, it’s a short 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive, or tuk-tuk/boda ride to Paje Beach and its kite spots, bars, and restaurants. When you want action, you head to the beach; when you want peace, you come back to the garden.

Other things to note
This is not a party property – it’s best suited to guests who value calm, nature, and respectful neighbours.
Zanzibar life includes natural sounds: birds, roosters, distant calls to prayer, and local village activity.
Paje’s beach area can feel lively during kite season and holidays, but the apartment remains a quieter base set back from the main strip.
We can help arrange: airport/ferry transfers, scooter or bicycle rental, and recommendations for kite schools, tours, and local restaurants.
Bikes and a generator for power backup are available for a small extra fee, $3 per day to maintain the bikes and $1 per hour for the generator only when powered on demand during an outage. Please note that ACs should not be switched on when running on generator but fans will work normally.
The beach essentials provided are a small handheld woven bag and beach towels.
