The Origins of the "Ferien-Fabrik"...
At the end of 2014, we purchased an old house in Idar-Oberstein at the foot of the Schlossberg. It was built in the early 1900s and served as the jewellery and chain factory for the company August Loch & Philipp Sohn until the 1960s. The premises cover 360 m² and were once used not only as living quarters but also for the production of chains and jewellery, traces of which could be found throughout the house. With its uniquely winding layout, the house has a very special charm that has inspired us greatly. During the renovation, we tried to breathe new life into the old furniture and objects we found in the house...
Location...
Centrally located, our “Ferien-Fabrik” offers two holiday apartments that can accommodate up to six people. The apartments are situated on the sunny side of the Schlossberg, in close proximity (1 km) to the Felsenkirche and the castle, and offer a beautiful view of the Oberstein district. Whether on foot, by bike, or in your own car, you can easily set out from here on planned excursions into the city or along numerous hiking trails into the nearby Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. Lidl, a bank, restaurants, an ice cream shop, a bus stop, and the train station are all just a few minutes’ walk away.

Absoluut top!
Het appartement was zeer proper en heel gezellig! We werden fantastisch onthaalt door deze 2 toffe mensen. We werden goed rondgeleid en voor de rest met rust gelaten. Onze handdoeken werden direct gewassen wanneer we de wasmand buiten zetten. Iets nodig we werden direct geholpen. Ik vind dit zeker een aanrader. Ook de ligging is zeer mooi. Van ons gewoon een 10 op 10
