About this property

"The Crash Pad" of Everwild Collective Cabins

Escape to The Crash Pad, one of the Everwild Collective Cabins. Some names require explanation. This one rewards it.

The Crash Pad takes its name from one of those perfect pieces of wildlife language: a group of rhinos is called a crash. It is a word with weight to it. Strength. Presence. Something unforgettable. And yet anyone who has truly spent time around rhinos knows there is more to them than force. There is calm in them, too. A steadiness. A quiet gravity. The kind that changes the air around it.

Set in the Texas Hill Country, The Crash Pad carries a little of that same spirit. Tucked among cedar and oak with a secluded setting and sweeping views, this private cabin offers a retreat that feels grounded, distinctive, and far removed from the ordinary. It is the sort of place made for slow mornings, long conversations, and the rare pleasure of having nowhere pressing to be.

Built by hand and personally operated by the owner for more than 30 years, these cabins have welcomed generations of guests returning for honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays, engagements, weddings, and the kinds of weekends that become part of family history. Each cabin was carefully placed on the land to preserve its natural beauty and create a true sense of peace and privacy.

The story behind The Crash Pad is a personal one. In 2021, the owner adopted a young southern white rhino calf through Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya and named her Wimberley, after the town that has meant so much to him. What began as a gesture of support became something much deeper — a connection to an animal that came to represent both resilience and vulnerability, and a reminder of how much of the wild world depends on people choosing to care.

This cabin features the owner’s wildlife photography inspired by that connection and by the remarkable animals that have left such a lasting mark on his life. Inside, The Crash Pad blends comfort with character, creating a space that feels personal rather than generic. Outside, the Hill Country does the rest. Whether guests are here to celebrate something special or simply to step away from the noise of everyday life, The Crash Pad offers a stay with beauty, story, and soul.
