The property itself was gorgeous, and Luciana, the keykeeper, was most gracious and accommodating.
That having been said, there were a number of issues that detracted from what could have been an idyllic stay.
To begin with, the property description was a 4 bedroom, 4 bath. It turned out to be a 3 bedroom, one of which had a bunk bed and a twin. The 4th bath, although lovely, was outside by the pool. All of the beds had substandard mattresses, very uncomfortable. All of the lightbulbs in the 2nd bathroom mirrror light were burned out, and the hairdryer vent was so clogged I wouldn't use it. As to the kitchen, it was woefully inadequate. A western coffeemaker would have been nice. But there was a serious lack of cutlery, only one serated bread knife to perform all cutting functions. Only one small wood cutting board on which to cut meat, vegetables and bread, unsanitary as well as inconvenient as it had to be washed and sanitized between each function. And there was a lack of platters and other serving dishes, no wine glasses. We have stayed in villas in Sicily, Tuscany and Lake Como, so had a good basis of comparison. Sorry to say this one did not measure up, but with a little attention it could be great!
