About this property
Secluded 120‑Year‑Old Stone Cabin with Canyon Views, Mining Ruins & Waterfalls
Stay in a piece of Arizona history at the Stonehouse Cabin, a beautifully preserved 120‑year‑old home perched above Ash Creek Canyon on more than 400 acres of private land. Once the residence of the mine manager during the height of Chrysotile’s mining era, this upstairs retreat blends historic stone architecture, warm wood interiors, and modern comfort with unforgettable canyon views.
Inside, the cabin features two cozy queen bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living area, and a bathroom stocked with essentials. Thick stone walls keep the space naturally cool and quiet, while large windows frame dramatic canyon scenery. With Starlink Wi‑Fi, a firepit, BBQ grill, and private parking at the base of the staircase, the Stonehouse offers everything you need for a peaceful and comfortable stay.
Step outside and you’re surrounded by towering canyon walls, wildlife‑rich habitats, and the preserved remains of a ghost‑town mining community from over a century ago. Guests can explore abandoned buildings, mine entrances (viewing only), orchard remnants, waterfalls, swimming holes, and miles of scenic trails. Off‑road vehicles are welcome on designated routes, giving you easy access to scenic overlooks, creekside paths, and hidden canyon gems.
With only one other cabin and seven widely spaced campsites on the entire property, you’ll enjoy unmatched privacy and room to roam. Whether you’re here for adventure, history, photography, wildlife, or a quiet escape, the Stonehouse Cabin offers a rare chance to experience Arizona’s past in a setting few people have ever seen.
Your host lives onsite and is available if needed. Upon arrival, guests may request a 30–45 minute off‑road orientation tour of the canyon, highlighting historic sites, trailheads, and the best viewpoints.
