About the host

Host profile image
We are a retired couple who enjoy family and sharing our home with friends and now guests. Originally from New Jersey, we relocated to Florida in the early 2000’s and have become residents of Georgia over the last few years. Throughout our lives we have enjoyed the outdoors and raised our children to enjoy and respect all that nature offers. We are active RV’ers, who have ventured on numerous trips around the USA with a few more things to see before we “settle down”. Once "empty nesters", we sold our Florida home and became full-time RV’ers for almost 5 years before building our Georgia home. We love to day hike (as we have gotten older, a few more “moderate” than “advanced” trails) and are wine enthusiasts. We love dogs and recently adopted a shelter dog who enjoys our travels as well as the mountain he now calls home.

Why they chose this property

Our sister and brother-in law wanted a place to get away from the Florida heat and hurricanes and in the early 2000’s purchased a cabin in Dahlonega. They made the mistake of opening it up for family members to use, and boy did we take advantage of that offer. We immediately fell in love with the rural small-town feeling, recreational activities and abundant wineries, frequently visiting and getting to know the area very well.

After years of using their cabin as a “base camp”, in 2017, we started to explore purchasing land in this area for our future retirement home. After an exhaustive search for just the right property (we visited well over 50 parcels), we found this amazing 8 acres, undeveloped, heavily wooded, secluded mountain top gem. We formally purchased the property in 2018 and moved into our new home in 2025.

Once you visit, you will understand why we chose this neighborhood. Sitting on the ridge amongst the tranquility of the woods you would never know you are only minutes away from the small-town appeal of Dahlonega, Cleveland and Helen, abundant outdoor recreational opportunities and of course, wineries. We do not think you will ever get tired of the respect and hospitality you get from all the local businesses and staff.

What makes this property unique

The uniqueness of our property stems from the truly secluded, private nature of its location, yet located only minutes away from all that Northeast Georgia has to offer
