About this property
Dan’s Den - Two bedroom home with outdoor firepit
Welcome to Dan’s Den, a spacious two bedroom home in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. Centrally located in Cumberland, the black bear capital of Kentucky. You’ll find many of the luxuries of a fine home here, but in a smaller home more suitable for a solo traveler, a couple, or small family. Enjoy two large living rooms, one of which is the newly added “log room”, cozied up in front of the gas fireplace for games, movies, or just to relax with a good book and a hot cup of coffee.
Six-week home of Frances Fisher during the filming of “Rust Belt Ruby”, most notably known as Rose’s mother in Titanic, this home is located in the foothills of eastern Kentucky, only minutes away from Kingdom Come State Park, Portal 31, the Kentucky Coal Museum, ATV trails, and Black Mountain, the highest point in Kentucky. You’ll feel like you’re in a lodge in the “log room” cuddled up in front of the gas fireplace. With two bedrooms and 1.5 baths, two living rooms, and a dedicated workspace, you’ll have plenty of space for yourself and your family. A fully stocked kitchen with everything you could need for preparing meals, as well as an outdoor grill and firepit to enjoy the Mountain View as you relax in the evenings, you’ll be right at home in this cozy home.
You’ll enjoy access to the entire home with the exception of a few owners closets.
As your host, I will always strive to be attentive and prompt with any of your needs. I also understand that you may want peace and quiet and to not have much interaction with me at all. With that said, I will follow your lead and only reach out to you if I must, but you will always be welcome to reach out to me for anything at all and as often as you’d like.
I am a native of Harlan County and will strive my absolute best to ensure your visit is as wonderful and memorable as it can possibly be. If you have any questions at all, or if you’d like a recommendation for dining, entertainment, sight seeing, or anything else, I will gladly help you any way I can. Hard Rules to Reiterate - We want everyone who books with us to enjoy their stay here. Most things are common sense and we ask that if you wouldn’t do it at your own home, you don’t do it here, but due to some past guest behavior, we are listing some rules that must be followed.
*Absolutely no parties or event hosting. If you’ve booked this home to host a party or any event, you will be asked to leave with no right to a refund for unused rent. By all means, enjoy yourself, enjoy some drinks if you wish, but please be respectful of the home and of the neighbors. This is a quiet, family oriented neighborhood. Excessive volumes outside during quiet hours (10pm-8am) or profanities that can be heard by neighbors at any hour will not be tolerated. Please be kind and courteous!
*Absolutely no smoking of anything inside the home. If you smoke, please do so outside, just please dispose of your garbage (cigarette butts) safely and properly and don’t throw butts or any other debris on the porches, ground, or yard.
* Any neglectful behavior resulting in the requirement of additional cleaning that is not common or typical or normal cleaning will be billed at the rate of $75.00 per hour. This includes but is not limited to picking up cigarette butts or other trash from the yard or premises, shampooing carpets from not removing shoes or dirty clothing at the entrance, cleaning of the grill, repositioning interior or exterior furniture back to its original location, remediation of smoking in the home plus the daily rate in lost revenue for the number of days required to fully mitigate the smoke removal.
*Please don’t steal! It has taken a lot to make this home suitable and perfect for for all guest. If you see something sitting around that you like, please enjoy it here, but leave it here. Taking anything will only deprive future guest from enjoying whatever it is. Whether it be a decorative item, bedding item, kitchen item, or anything else, please don’t steal.
*By proceeding with this booking, you agree to abide by these rules and to any additional charges that may be incurred for violating these rules or the subsequent cleaning charges that may ensue.
