Whether you need a holiday and want to unwind while hiking or biking in the “Green Belt” nature reserve along the former East-West German border, or are looking for a place to focus on creative work in a fully equipped, individually designed apartment in a village setting, this is the place to slow down.
If you’d like, you can also enjoy the cultural offerings here at our “BirnenhofArts” farm and in the surrounding area, relax at the Bad Rodach thermal spa, or visit one of the many sights in the “Land of Castles and Palaces.”
In the historic half-timbered house of our 18th-century four-sided farmstead, we offer a fully equipped 4-room apartment with a kitchen and bathroom, spanning 125 square metres. From solo travellers to groups of up to 6 people, everyone should be able to feel at home.
Under the motto “The countryside is wherever we are —from the affluent suburbs of the Bavarian capital to the village in Upper Franconia”—we purchased our farmstead in Bad Rodach in 2021 and have been working ever since to transform the historic farm complex into a cultural and community hub for painters, writers, and other travellers.
We love being hosts and sharing our creative lives as painters and writers with our guests.
As your hosts, we live on the farm and are here for you and your (special) requests.
Please feel free to contact us. We may be able to accommodate many requests not listed here.
In addition to the former stable building to the east—which we’ve converted into our living quarters and now call home—we offer plenty of space and ample shelter from the elements under the arcade to the west for open-air events during the summer months. We regularly host the “Bat Cinema,” readings, concerts, or simply cosy get-togethers.
The barn, with its open, historic roof truss, provides a wonderful space for exhibitions, art performances, or photo shoots. At the moment, it is still “unfinished” and is being used as an exhibition space, retaining its original charm. We’re still planning……
A 45-minute documentary about the renovation of our farm can be viewed in the “Traumhäuser” series on Bayerischer Rundfunk at 11.11.2024, or will be available in the ARD media library starting in late September 2024.
We, Cordula Utermöhlen and Roland Dierenberger, look forward to being your hosts.
