This mountain home in Turrialba has been in Karla's family for three generations, surrounded by coffee fields with views of Turrialba Volcano. The two bedrooms sleep up to 7 guests: the main room has a king bed, two twin beds, and a sofa bed; the second room has a queen bed and a twin bed.
Outside you'll find a private pool, a grill, and a fire pit set on open green grounds — a good spot for morning coffee or an evening around the fire. The house has WiFi and fans (no A/C), free parking on the property, and works well for remote work. Kids are welcome with adult supervision; we're not able to accommodate pets.
We're Karla and Marcelo, and we'll personally welcome you when you arrive. Ask us about rafting on the Pacuare River, coffee tours, or other things to do around Turrialba — we're happy to help you plan your stay.

Karla has over 10 years of experience in communication for development and the environment, and Marcelo has more than 15 years in adventure tourism — he's guided rafting trips on the Pacuare River for years before we started hosting here. Between the two of us, we know this region well and enjoy sharing it with guests, from the best local spots to eat to which tour operators we trust for rafting or hiking.
We meet every guest in person when you arrive, walk you through the property, and stay reachable by WhatsApp during your stay. Hosting here means keeping alive a house that's been in Karla's family for three generations — we like doing that by making sure people actually enjoy their time on it.

Why they chose this property
This isn't a neighborhood we picked — it's Karla's family land, passed down through three generations, since her great-grandfather, a coffee exporter, first worked this ground. What made us want to open it up to guests is what we grew up seeing every day: coffee fields right outside the door, views of Turrialba Volcano, and a cool mountain climate that's a relief after San Jose's heat.
Turrialba itself is still a working agricultural town rather than a touristy one, which we like — real local restaurants, a farmers market, and CATIE's gardens nearby. It's also close to some of the best whitewater in the country: the Pacuare River is a short drive away, and Marcelo's rafting background means we can point you to operators we actually trust.

The biggest thing is that it's a real family home, not a property built for rental — Karla's mother inherited it from her grandfather, who inherited it from his father, a coffee exporter, three generations back. You get the whole finca to yourselves: two bedrooms sleeping up to 7, a private pool, a grill, and a fire pit set on open grounds surrounded by coffee fields, with Turrialba Volcano in view.
