About the host
Hosted by Korey Southerland
Jeremy and I (Korey) are proud locals who live right here in New Ulm, Minnesota, deeply rooted in both the community and the natural landscape of the region.
When we are not working on natural resource projects or searching for unique secondhand items to give new life to, our world revolves around our family. We are the parents of three young kids who are heavily involved in dance, gymnastics, and theater. A huge part of our time and joy comes from keeping busy supporting them in all of their activities, rehearsals, and performances! When we do get a free moment, we love exploring the trails at Flandrau State Park, biking, or checking out local community events.
We love hosting because it gives us a wonderful chance to share our passion for New Ulm with visitors from all over. Knowing how busy life can get, we take great pride in giving people a warm, comfortable, and eco-friendly home base where they can completely relax, unwind, and enjoy everything our vibrant town has to offer.
Why they chose this property
We absolutely fell in love with this location because it offers the perfect blend of small-town charm, ultimate convenience, and private comfort.
Nestled right in downtown New Ulm, Minnesota, the neighborhood strikes a unique balance that is rare to find. On one hand, you get the authentic feeling of having your own cozy, quiet home complete with a private driveway to park in. You can step outside, look down the tree-lined street, and completely unwind.
On the other hand, you are just a few steps away from the vibrant heart of the town. What we enjoy most about this neighborhood is its incredible walkability: • The Best Local Dining: You can leave your car in the driveway and take a short, easy stroll to fantastic downtown restaurants, local breweries, and cozy spots like The Coffee Keller or Lola - An American Bistro. • Front-Row Seat to Big Events: New Ulm is famous for its festivals and community celebrations, and staying here puts you right next to the action without losing your peace and privacy.
Because we also live right here in town, we are always close by and can easily support you with anything you need during your stay while completely respecting your space and privacy.
It truly gives you the best of both worlds—the independence and comfort of a standalone house, paired with the lively, walkable energy of a historic downtown. We hope you enjoy exploring these streets as much as we do!
What makes this property unique
Because of our backgrounds and interests in natural resources, we are deeply passionate about environmental stewardship and sustainability. When we set out to open this short-term rental, we wanted to prove that you can provide a beautiful, comfortable, and top-tier guest experience while keeping our footprint small and honoring the planet.
With that mission in mind, this property was intentionally designed from top to bottom around the concepts of reuse and recycling.
Here is what went into creating this space for you:
• Sourced with Care: Almost every piece of furniture and decor in the house is a unique piece that we went out of our way to source used and pre-loved. • Deeply Cleaned & Restored: Every single item was meticulously and deeply cleaned, and we partnered with fantastic local furniture refurbishers to give these beautiful pieces a brand-new life. • Where We Bought New: Your comfort and hygiene are our absolute top priorities. Because of this, the beds, bedding, linens, and towels are all completely new. For practical and safety reasons, we also stocked the kitchen with brand-new pots and pans.
We put our hearts into creating a sustainable, cozy, and happy environment that doesn't impact the earth. We hope you love the thoughtful character of this space as much as we do, and we hope you have an incredible stay!
