We really enjoyed our vacation- walking the beach, kayaking, and playing cards while relaxing in the very clean cottage. Had all the amenities and the nearby food mart was handy as well. We will come back for sure!

Cozy cottage by the sea
The cottage was 1 of 3 houses we rented from the owner. They are all right next to each other and share a huge property/ garden right along the Puget sound shore.
The cottage was perfect quiet getaway from the rest of the family staying in the big house and the apartment, while still having a killer view of the beach and water. We were here for a family reunion but took advantage of the bbq to grill some steaks while the rest of the kids had sloppy joes over at the wisteria house.
All around great atmosphere in lakebay Wa. Quiet community of beautiful old houses.

Fun Place
For being the cottage on the property is was just fine for our family of 4. The inside of the cottage was nicely appointed and the outside decks, especially the upstairs deck was great for viewing the stars. The entertainment systems was nice as well since we could use the HDMI cable to connect to our laptop.
A few items to be aware of:
1. We had gotten lucky that the main house was not being rented as the coordination with kayaks and general grounds may have been a bit akward. Also only two of the kayaks didn't leak, which was okay with us since we only used two.
2. Kitchen ware is a bit sparse. For plates I would recommend bringing paper plates. Limited spices and cookingware in general is at a minimum.
3. Bring your own paper towels, toliet paper and kitchen size garbage bags (something that is requested of you).
Had a great time playing in the grass, water and beach area.

Nick,
Thanks for bringing your family out to beautiful Lakebay Washington. Thanks for the heads up on the Kayaks. They have been repaired. Always nice to get this kind of feedback. The best remedy to having to share the kayaks is to book all 3 houses :) Really though it is amazing how friendly everyone we've hosted is.

Maintenance needed on this beautiful property
Let me start by saying that the main house and the cottage are in a beautiful setting. The cottage is roomy and well furnished. However, upon arrival, when I went to turn on the heat, there was a note on the thermostat that said "Sorry for the inconvenience, the heater and fireplace in the cottage are out of order. Please use space heaters provided. Thank you, The Management." It was about 40F outside and raining, and the space heaters had not been turned on in anticipation of our arrival, so it was VERY cold in there. We were able to warm the upstairs bedroom fairly quickly because it was a smaller, enclosed area, but it took a full day before the downstairs was even mildly comfortable. If we tried to use more than one space heater downstairs, it would trip the breaker. Furthermore, there wasn't a smoke detector downstairs (it had been removed), so I was a bit nervous about having three space heaters, two children, and no smoke detector. There was a detector upstairs.
Also, the first night we were there my daughter turned on the water to take a shower, and the tub wouldn't drain at all. I spent a few minutes using a wire hanger to pull other peoples' hair out of the drain. I didn't call maintenance due to the time of night it was, and it was something I could do myself.
Lastly, the rental agreement mentions that the water has an off smell. Let me be clear: it is a very strong rotten egg smell. I'm not sure what causes it, and the owner indicates it's safe to drink, but it is strong, and every time the toilet is flushed, or the sinks or shower are turned on, the smell is released into the air. I've stayed at several beach properties (although not in this area), and this is the first time I've encountered this smell.
I admit that I didn't notify the property owner of these issues while I was there, however, the note on the thermostat indicated their awareness of the heat issue and the rental agreement indicated an awareness of the water smell.

Sorry for the inconvenience. The heater was supposed to be repaired earlier in the day before you arrived but the heating company failed to get the new part in time. We left the space heaters as a last resort just in case. I'll check with the handyman on the smoke detector.
The water is part of a well that serves several homes in the area. It is safe to drink and use and is tested frequently by the local water co-op. It is mineral rich though so bottled water or charcoal filters are a plus.
This lovely cottage is wonderful for a quiet retreat. It's warm and cozy with charming decor and a fireplace; perfect for cold, rainy days. We enjoyed kayaking on the serene water and watching the seals and sea birds. It feels tucked away and remote, but it has internet and cell service and a couple of small markets within a 10-minute drive. Our stay was amazing and we hope to return someday during a warmer season to enjoy the back porch!
This was a beautiful location. Just far enough from metropolitan area. We saw the seals every day.
Loved the location. Quiet and peaceful, which we were looking forward to. We saw the seals every day we were there. Wineries, breweries, and chocolatiers were within a reasonable driving distance. We will definitely be back
The beautiful bay was accessible right at the base of the property and we saw seals and a doe and fawns! Very tranquil setting. The cottage was everything it promised to be. Very clean and charming and thoughtfully planned out and decorated. Well organized with thorough instructions. Nice quality linens and beds. Fluffy and plentiful towels. Country French vibe!
My girlfriend and I had an amazing time at this property. We rented the Cottage for the weekend. We were able to kayak and see dozens of seals, sit by the fire and watch Netflix, and wake up every morning and drink coffee with a beautiful view from the back porch. Everything was clean and the house and property were both beautiful!
Cozy cottage right on the beach. Awesome shells and views. Kayaking was the best - multiple doubles to use. We kayaked daily and saw seals every time we paddled; they seem to live in the inlet right outside the home. AT low tide you can spot multiple seals on a rock a bit north of the home. Quiet area. Inside was cozy - we especially loved eating dinner on the back porch as the sun was setting. Would definitely return!
We really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage was the perfect place to de-stress. The grounds were beautiful and the accommodations charming. The view of the cove was lovely. Overall the highlight of our Pacific Northwest trek!
We loved this property! This one bedroom cottage has been nicely updated and was perfect for a short getaway for my wife and I. We enjoyed the deck which overlooks the bay and took advantage of the nice new BBQ for making our meals at home. The kitchen is nicely appointed with all the utensils we needed. We also took advantage of walks on the beach. We would strongly recommend the cottage!
The house is so clean and comfy. Beautiful views from the upstairs bedroom and living room. The house was even better in person compared to the photos. We really enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the water (one did have a hole in it so be careful) and drinking coffee on the covered porch in the morning. The area is very peaceful.
Lakebay Marina and Resort is a great spot for fish and chips. Casual, with a special charm and pretty views from the outdoor tables.
Penrose state park is very close and great for walks on the beach.
The host is very responsive and friendly.
The cottage is adorable, cozy, and well equipped. Comfy beds. Beautiful views. Quiet at night, so we could hear the chorus of frogs as we fell asleep. A great find!
The cottage was great - clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The beach access, kayas for paddling, and views were also amazing. We cooked the whole time, and the small kitchen has nearly everything you'd need to prepare meals for two (but no salt - bring your own!). Would stay here again
We very much enjoyed our stay in The Cottage. It was perfect for our family - 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We had a very relaxing visit and loved being on the water and the ability to go kayaking.
We wanted a nice get away not too far from home and this cottage worked out perfect for the two of us. It was a good size for us and the bedroom upstairs was quite spacious. It has a king bed and a daybed in the room with a nice view. The kitchen worked ok but not very big. We spent a fair amount of time on the back deck but the view was obstructed by a couple of trees. It would be so much nicer with an unobstructed view. Loved the beach and a perfect place to kayak! We would stay there again.
