Castionetto, a small village in the central Valtellina, is situated on the slopes of a medieval tower, on a sunny terrace with a magnificent view of the valley and the Orobic Pre-Alps. It is surrounded by forests, vineyards, olive groves, and apple orchards. It is crossed by several trails, such as the Strada del Vino and the Via dei Terrazzamenti, and is just a few kilometres from the Sentiero Valtellina.

The village has a small supermarket and two restaurants serving typical Valtellina specialities such as pizzoccheri and sciatt; one of them is also a pizzeria.

The apartment is tastefully furnished and features a terrace with a breathtaking view. The house is surrounded by a large garden with flowers, fruit trees, majestic fir trees, and a large covered area for outdoor dining, where you can also barbecue.

The book “Inventory of Place Names” for the region describes the name Sala as follows:
Vineyards and farmland east of the settlement, in castión (Castionetto), where Via Menatti meets the scenic road to téi (Teglio).
