Oceanfront Vacation Rental with Magnificent View

The apartment is located in Villas de Playa I in the town of Dorado, readily accesible via expressway from the San Juan Airport. Dorado maintains the blend of a small town with all the ameinities of a large city, since it has become a bedroom community of San Juan.

The apartment is a three bedroom, three level walkup apartment, whose interior has been recently redone, next to the beach with an ocean view. The first level has the living and dining areas, a modern kitchen and a full bathroom, which is convenient since there is a sleeper sofa that converts into a queen sized bed in the living room. In addition to having air conditioning in every room, the living room/kitchen area is also air conditioned.

The second floor has two bedrooms, each with a private full bath. One of the bedrooms has a queen sized bed and faces the ocean; the other has bunk beds which sleeps three persons.Each room is air conditioned. The top floor holds the Master bedroomed,, which is also air conditioned, has a king sized bed, a full bath and a sitting area.

Among other facilities, there is a children's playground as well as two controlled access swimming pools, one of them a wading pool.

The property is next to the Embassy Suites and the Dorado del Mar Golf Club, both less than 5 minutes walking distance. From the apartment you can walk west along Sardinera beach ( beach in the Dorado Beach Hotel ) or exercise along the beach following the Rockefeller nature trail. The Dorado fishing village is next to the compound and you can buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen as they return from the sea around noon each day.

There are several fine restaurants in the area, including the award winning El Ladrillo, which is also an art gallery, as well as other delicious seafood restaurants next to the Dorado beach. If you are into trying typical Puerto Rican fritters, there are also kiosks along the beach to enjoy them.

You are close to three of the most visited tourist locations in Puerto Rico: the Bacardi Rum distillery, the Camuy caves and the Arecibo radiotelescope. The first is located to the east, reachable following route 165, which runs next to the ocean. The other two are to the west, near the town of Lares.

Great Value in Paradise

This was our 2nd stay. The home was just as we remembered. It was clean, roomy and check in was a breeze. I love how Jorge and his wife are there to greet you in person. There is a pool and you are right on the beach. Its not the best beach however, your on the coast and in PR with many beautiful beaches near. I am looking forward to our next visit.

Immediately book this place! It was the perfect get away for my family of 5 and there was still so much room left. We were immediately greeted with cold water bottles, AC, and my dad even got a beer! The beach is just a short walk from the back porch and we were allowed to use the Embassy Suites beach as well (as beaches in PR are not private). It's centrally located which was great to be able to be a 30min drive from everything we wanted to see. I cannot wait to come back again and visit

Spacious and Comfortable

This was our second time staying in this unit. We really enjoyed being back! This is such a great location, with the beach just across the grass on the other side of the gate! Unfortunately, it was cloudy every evening we were there this trip, but we know from our previous stay that it’s a great location to enjoy the sunsets! The unit itself has been recently redecorated, and we love how much space there was for our family to spread out and relax. We had everything we needed for a great vacation. Thanks so much!

Everything was wonderful! We arrived so late, past midnight, the guard was incredibly helpful in taking us directly to our unit. Upon entering, everything was clean and organized, beach towels and chairs, patio furniture. The very best part was having four full bathrooms and air conditioning in every room!!! Thank you Jorge! Beautiful!

This was a very pleasant experience! Jorge was very helpful with the entire process and sent clear instructions on how to get there! The place is large and is not even 30 seconds from the beach and pool area! Just a short walk and you’re there! Once you exit the private gated community the plaza right next to you has everything you need from pizza, McDonald’s, Chinese food, clothing shopping and a supermarket! Definitely will be staying again. I also loved that the master had an additional sofa bed!! Great help when traveling with small children.

Great location, tough for “outsiders”

We enjoyed our stay at Jorge’s place. When we arrived, we were lucky that someone on the outside had the clicker to let us in because the guard never answered the phone. And, we didn’t know that anytime we got Uber Eats or DoorDash, the delivery drivers couldn’t call the guard to get in. We had to leave the villa each time, walk down the block to the gate, and use the clicker to let the deliveries in. That was VERY inconvenient, especially at night. Other than that, the villa was nice, the view was incredible, and it was as described.

Wish we could have stayed longer

Stayed 1 month (awesome discount fyi). The view of the waves, the ocean breeze, access to the beach steps away, pool nearby - wish we could stay longer. It was very quiet, being in the gated Dorado Del Mar neighborhood and the complex has its own gate. We hardly used the whole space, 3 bd/4 bath is a lot! There was good AC in every bedroom plus the 1st floor (main living space). Had some typical critters and some very friendly cats. We locked ourselves out once ( the sea breeze slammed the door!) and the owner called maintenance who got us back inside very quickly. We are just so happy with our stay! Our family will be reminiscing for years.

Beachfront in a gated community

Villas de Playa 1 is a gated condo complex inside a very large gated community. The condo is very spacious with 3 large bedrooms, each with their own, private bathrooms, plus another full bathroom on the main level. Each bedroom has its own A/C unit, which was nice. The condo itself needs some updating and a more thorough cleaning, but the location, only ~100 feet from a beach and the ocean is amazing. The beds were very firm and could use updating. The appliances were newer and worked well. The large lanai facing the ocean was very nice too. Having our own washer/dryer was a nice plus. The owners are very responsive and own the unit next door. They supplied 6 beach towels, 4 chairs, a cooler and an umbrella. The complex has a large pool area which was barely used when we were there in January. We stayed 3 weeks. Puerto Rico has so many things to do and we really enjoyed our time there. Thanks Jorge!

Wonderful stay in Dorado

We stayed in Dorado for 10 days in April 2013, and visted many places on the island. This townhouse served as an excellent base of operations for my wife and I, and our four kids (boys 8 and 10, and girls 12 and 14) for our first trip to Puerto Rico. The unit is a three story townhouse that is more spacious that it appears in the pictures, and both the unit itself and the villa grounds are well maintained. The entryway has a lockable closet containing the washer and dryer, beach chairs, toys, etc. The first floor has a full bath, a kitchen with an island and stools, the dining area, a living area, and a large patio that opens up onto a wide lawn and the ocean. The second floor has two bedrooms, one with three twin beds (a bunk bed with a trundle underneath, and a second with two twin beds that can be combined into a larged bed. Each bedroom has a full bathroom attached. The second bedroom also has a view of the ocean. The third floor has the master bedroom with a king bed, sitting area, full bathroom, and large, lovely patio with a commanding view of the ocean. CONS: I can think of only two: 1) The unit has no dishwasher - not a problem for us, but be aware if you are expecting one. 2) The villa pool was closed when we were there, and is expected to be closed until mid-June 2013, I think. Not an issue when it's easy enough to use the much larger pool at the Embassy Suites next door. PROS: 1) The owners, Jorge and Cristy, are just wonderful - very helpful with advice and suggestions. They own the adjacent unit as well, and are there most weekends - never intruding, but available if needed. 2) The size of the unit worked very well for us - each bedroom having an attached bathroom was very helpful. 3) The location: Farjardo is about 75 minutes away (assuming no rush hour); Rio Camuy and Arecibo are about an hour. The AcuaExpreso ferry to Old San Juan in Catano is about 25 minutes. Supermarket is right down the road, and Walmart is 15 minutes away 4) The community is gated and security patrols regularly - we felt very safe there. 5) Well-stocked kitchen, and a gas grill on the patio - we saved some money by not eating out for every meal (but try mofongo at the local restaurants!) 6) reserved parking space close to the unit - very convenient. 7) The view - the unit looks out towards the west, and we got some great sunset pictures over the ocean.

Cocernings the CONS, we were sorry that the pool was under repair at the time of their stay. The pool is about 40 years old and had develpod leaks; it was decided to upgrade the facility to more modern one. The work will end by late June 2013. Together with this work, a gym is being constructed next to the pool, which will be available to owners and guest.

Best Villa I've Seen in the Area

Our group of 19 rented a total of 4 villas in Villas de Playas 1 and 2 and stayed for 7 nights. This villa was by far the best and nicest one of all! Perfect location with amazing ocean views from all floors, beds were comfortable, villa was clean, has a washer/dryer, has everything you could need for a fun day at the beach, and within a couple of feet from a usable/swimmable beach! The beach has a barrier("rompe olas"), which made it very fun to be in with younger children and not worry about waves crashing on the shore. With 4 full bathrooms (1 in each bedroom) we had no issues getting our group of 6 plus an infant ready in the mornings. There is plenty of parking and we were never more than a few feet from our pedestrian gate. The owner was SUPER responsive, attentive, and accommodating!

Family of 3: 2 adults 1 4yrs old. Nice property, spacious, great working ACs and water heater. Ocean views from all the floors and direct access to the beach. Swimming pool also nice. Kitchen needs to be updated. Cabinets have this musty odor that takes over the first floor. Unit was clean and we could tell they sprayed for bugs before we got there by the dead roaches found on the first floor. No big deal for us since we understand from living in the Caribbean but another reason to change the cabinets. Owner super responsive and accomodating. Great dealing with him. Location was great with walk in access to beach. Easy to drive to grocery stores, restaurants and to the highway.

Exceeded expectations

This property was ,overall , the best place you could stay when compared to what we seen around there. It’s one of the few 3 level properties that have a covered deck on the top with master bedroom. When we first looked out of 3 rd level room, we felt like we didn’t want to go down. Every bedroom had it’s own bathroom. Plus 1 more bathroom on first level. The owners were friendly and answered any questions we had. Access to beach felt like it was steps away. Easy walking distance to multiple places to eat by beach. Definitely will stay here again if circumstances allow it .

I am retired chemical engineer. My wife's name is Cristy. We live in the near-by town of Guaynabo,but we come to the area frequently , normally every week-end since we own another unit.We are basically available all the time to answer questions.

Why they chose this property

We first bought in 2002 because of the proximity of Dorado to San Juan, so it only takes us 25 minutes to get home. At the same time, we were looking for a beach house directly on the beach, where you could walk and not have to take a car to the beach. We had several friends who also owned villas here, we had visited many times and knew of the well-kept grounds and peacefullness of the site.

What makes this property unique

When we first bought the apartmnent, I was stil working and this place provided the ideal site for decompressing during week-ends. Once we are here, we normally walk on the beach or along the golf courses, which provides a very enjoyable execise time.I enjoy listening to the sound of the waves as they reach the beach and read a book. We enjoy the beach and I have learned to cook for family and friends during the week end.
