On the Hardt – Your Holiday Home in the Vulkaneifel – The holiday home is located in Mürlenbach within the Vulkaneifel Geopark and Nature Park, in a secluded spot on a mountain (Hardt) with spectacular views surrounded by nature. With 100 m² of space, it accommodates 4 adults and 3 to 4 children, or a maximum of 6 adults, and features a bedroom with a double bed, a bedroom with a high-quality sofa bed and a cot, a children’s room with 3 single beds, two newly renovated bathrooms, a living room with a TV, and a cosy kitchen-diner with an adjoining dining area and a fireplace.
After an eventful day, relax in the panoramic barrel sauna with a wood-burning stove, in the heated Jacuzzi, by the campfire, or simply listen to the silence and nature on the terrace. The house was built about 150 years ago and expanded after the war.
About 25 years ago, an electrical connection was installed and the heating system was set up.
After the current owners took over, a 96-meter-deep well was drilled to ensure a supply of fresh water even during dry summers.
The house has been lovingly renovated and furnished so that it has everything you need and feels like a cosy second home. With 100 m² of living space spread over two floors, it can comfortably accommodate 4 adults and 3 to 4 children. It features one bedroom with a double bed, one bedroom with a high-quality sofa bed and a cot, a children’s room with three single beds, two bathrooms, a living room, and a cosy kitchen-dining area. Toys for the children, a bookshelf for all ages, and baby equipment (cot, high chair, baby bathtub) are provided. Upon arrival, the beds are made and towels are provided.
There is NO Wi-Fi (but good cell phone reception).
The best playground in the world starts right outside the door... forests and meadows.
Here, the children (and adults, too!) can run around, ride bikes, fly kites, jump on the trampoline, go sledding, build huts in the woods, sit around a campfire and make bread on a stick, watch wild animals, and have the greatest adventures of their lives. Nature lovers will be in their element—here, foxes and hares really do say “good night” to each other (as do red deer, roe deer, wild boars, badgers, raccoons, wildcats, and, with a lot of luck, even lynx). Mushrooms sprout here in the fall, and rare orchids bloom in the summer. For hikers, the trails begin just 10 metres from the breakfast table. Bikers can choose between riding down into the valley towards the Kyll Forest or a bit further up into the heights of the Eifel. Mürlenbach is also located along the Kyll Valley Bike Trail. Anglers can fish in the Kyll at the foot of the mountain—a paradise for fly fishermen. And those who simply want to do nothing are in the perfect spot here—no matter the weather. Up here, you can feel the peace, nature, the weather, and yourself. Come up here, and you’ll find peace. Those who come to the Eifel aren’t looking for a wild time. Those who come to the Hardt are looking for peace and nature, space to roam, and great hiking and biking trails. Mürlenbach is located in the Vulkaneifel Nature and Geopark. Volcanic cones, mineral water springs, a unique concentration of natural phenomena, and especially the maars are the highlights of our stunning landscape. With the Dauner Maars and the Mosenberg-Meerfelder Maar volcanic system, the Vulkaneifel boasts two geological sites that have been designated as “Germany’s most significant geotopes.” So anyone visiting the Eifel simply can’t miss the volcanoes and maars. There are great outing destinations in the immediate vicinity especially for children, such as the Kasselburg Eagle and Wolf Park, the Daun Wildlife and Adventure Park, the Eifelpark in Gondorf, the Teufelsschlucht Dinosaur Park, and various indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
