Ask a questionAbout Ethan Jordan
We first visited Big Sky in 1995. Being from Florida, we never skied before, but we wanted to give it a try. Not knowing if we would like it we decided to find a place close to Yellowstone as a back up plan in case skiing wasn't for us. Well, both were great experiences. Since that first trip to Big Sky, we'd skied about a dozen other resorts, but Big Sky is the only place we ever returned to. It's not that the other ski resorts weren't great, but Big Sky has less than half the visitors of Jackson Hole and four times fewer than Vail while at the same time offering one of North America's largest ski areas and unlimited outdoor recreational activities in both summer & winter. Big Sky is the place to be to escape the monotony and stresses of everyday life.
Ethan Jordan purchased this Townhouse in 2000
Why Ethan Jordan chose
Going up the lift one day, we asked a former European ski instructor why he moved to Big Sky. He pointed to Lone Peak. Some of the best lift served extreme terrain in the country. But, it isn't only about the steeps, you also get long wide uncrowded blue and green groomers. Imagine being the only skier on a 3 mile long half-a-football field wide slope. No wonder Warren Miller called Montana home. Some don't like the lack of a bar-hoping nightlife, but that makes it more appealing to us. In addition to a world class ski mountain, Big Sky is just an hour away from Yellowstone, America's first national park, and its about 15 minutes to the Gallatin National forest. While whitewater rafting and fly fishing is a short ride down the mountain, we are located in the heart of the resort activities (skiing, mountain biking, zip line, paintball and more...). So why Big Horn? First because it is in the Big Sky Mountain Village in the heart of the ski resort. Second, because it is only an hour from Yellowstone and the airport. Third, because it offers all of the above at a reasonable price.
What makes this Townhouse unique
While you'll probably spend most of your daytime hours skiing, rafting, hiking or doing one of the other many outdoor activities Big Sky has to offer, you'll probably spend much of the night indoors. That's why we strive to provide our place with as many in-house activities as you would have in your own home. For example, we have 4 HDTV's all with actual high definition programming and premium movie channels. Plus all of those TV's have Netflix. While most places have one hot water heater, we have two. You may say, so what, but two heaters make it much less likely you'll run out of hot water. Also, image the disaster if you stay at a place that has only one and that one breaks down. It's not like they're a hotel and can move you to another room. We upgraded our washer and dryer to large capacity so you can spend more time enjoying Big Sky and less time washing loads of clothes. We upgraded our wood burning fireplace to an EPA efficient system that burns not just wood, but also the smoke and volatile gases resulting in less pollution and more heat. With the interior surroundings, we spent a little more to theme decorate making for a more inviting and enjoyable atmosphere for your stay. We did to provide a pleasant experience for our guests, but also because we use the place ourselves for our vacation. Some other things that make our place stand out are the unobstructed lake and mountain views. And, you will really appreciate the ski/hiking boot dryers. Nothing can ruin a ski trip faster than wet cold feet.
