Getting Around:
Guests will need to make sure they have their own vehicle. Summer months are fine with a small car but four wheel drive is a must in the winter!
Other Things to Note:
What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

Great accomodations for our family reunion in Yellowstone Country! Place was well thought out for a larger group for a comfortable stay. Kids loved the hot tub- Parents loved the double washer/dryer setup!
This was a great house for us. We had 14 people. 4 families. The hot tub was an added bonus. We actually saw a mother moose and her baby close to the property. It was well stocked. Great location.
This home was perfect for all of our family. We thoroughly enjoyed the private unit and the many outdoor activities.
Our only complaint was the fact that local businesses and surrounding amenities closed at 9pm. The unit was awesome!
We stayed here with family and friends. The place was easy to find and very clean when we arrived. There was a little construction next door, but it wasn’t loud. We did notice the lid to the crockpot was not the correct one. The children enjoyed the bunkbed rooms down stairs as well as the built in bunk bed in the upstairs king room.

Nice Home Away from Home.
Very clean. New BBQ. Accommodated our family of 22 (10 adults, 12 children) very well. Office staff was very helpful with questions and needs (before and during). Had a fun water balloon fight in grassy picnic area. Distance to Yellowstone was farther than we thought. Mosquitoes were a problem for outside activities. Great family vacation destination
The property was wonderful, clean, spacious, large, and comfortable. There are 6 total bedrooms, 3 in the basement. At times, the basement bathroom was a bit crowded, especially when the children were going to bed. That meant that 6 adults and 4 children were using a single bathroom. Of course, on the main floor, there was a bathroom that could be used, with only one adjacent bedroom (the master). So, it all worked out for us very well, with this one exception. Not insurmountable.
Very nice and accommodating cabin. Had a cow and calf moose one morning. Roomy and was great for our group. We would definitely stay at this property again.
Easily held all 13 of us. We all had privacy and would gather on the main floor for meals and games. Could not figure out how to turn off the fireplace heater on the main floor. Would highly recommend. Only about 1/2 hour to West Yellowstone!
We had ten adults and eight children (9 months - 10 years old) and it fit us all easily with room to spare. The cabin had one pack n play already in it, but we had three set up total and although some rooms were pretty tight with one set up, it worked out alright. It’s in a perfect location and very easy to find. It’s not too far off of a main highway so even though we got a lot of snow the night before we checked out, we were still able to fairly easily get two mini vans back to the main road. Great stay and highly recommend!

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
Could have been a 5 star
Five Star if it was cleaner and cautionary statements about water were explained sooner.
1. Cleanliness: Kitchen cabinets were sticky to the touch. Dirty pans were left in the oven. Pantry cupboards have crumbs all over in them. Dried on boogers behind a bedroom bed. Window screens were missing in some bedrooms (could not open windows for cool air at night). It seems they do as little cleaning as possible. We sent an email to let them know of our concerns but have not heard back yet. Not super prompt.
2. We were given notice two days before our trip that there were reports of Ecoli in the water throughout Island park and that we should bring our own drinking water with us. This would not have been a strike against this property, until after further investigation, I found that this has been a common problem in Island Park long before our two day notice (we are talking years). The company should advertise that Island Park frequently struggles to have Ecoli free water. The company should also list their last water test date and results of that test in their online advertisement so that people can make an educated choice to whether or not hauling water constitutes a vacation. This company ought to be testing their water source between each reservation. If I could see they were doing everything they could for me, it would have made a big difference. Was not with the nightly fee we paid for the week.
Other than that, the cabin is spacious, well decorated and really could/should be an easy 5 star rating.
We loved our stay here! We had a large family group and there was plenty of room for everyone! The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of towels for our whole group. It was a great location, not too far from Yellowstone and a bunch of other activities! We loved that there was a downstairs living room that gave the kids a hang out space. The bedrooms upstairs were really warm, so if you have adults staying up there, make sure you bring fans!
We were pleased overall with our experience using Tanglewood Lodge as our vacation getaway. It was clean and there was plenty of room for our large family. We would consider it again. Just two comments: we called because the hot tub would not maintain the jetted action. Prompt response from the manager, who reset it every time but the same problem continued. We thought perhaps the filters needed to be cleaned,????? The other problem was that some previous renter had left a pot full of cooking oil in one of the cupboards. We wanted to use the pot to make soup and when we pulled it out , what a surprise!!! We cleaned up the problem and were able to use the pot. Just thought someone who had stayed there must have been to lazy or careless not to take care of their own oil. Nevertheless, we had a great time and would work with you again.
