About this property

La Batterie Villa • Beautiful Boutique Island Villa with Breathtaking Views

La Batterie Villa is a COVID-19 certified property and an approved accommodation from the government of Saint Lucia. Please check with us for current protocols for the villa and for the island before booking your stay.

Tucked away in the exclusive Anse Chastanet / Jade Mountain area of Soufriere, La Batterie villa offers complete privacy. You will find your escape at this luxury villa surrounded by lush gardens, a tropical swimming pool with accompanying cabana, lily pond and spacious decks. Located 300 feet above the Caribbean Sea facing the infamous Pitons there is no shortage of breathtaking views, cool island breezes and awe.

Moving inside, the villa is constructed of native stone along with teak and mahogany woods. Built in traditional Caribbean construction, the house has louvered plantation style doors that open to take full advantage of its abundant natural and tropical landscape.

The house has three bedrooms each with king sized beds and en suite washroom to allow guests maximum privacy and can comfortably sleep a group of six. Each bedroom has its own lounging patio along with wardrobe closets. The master bedroom overlooks the Caribbean Sea while the two other bedrooms overlook the villa gardens. These two rooms can be made with single beds if requested in advance.

Additionally, the villa has a loft over the living room that can be used to sleep two however we would recommend that they be in their teenage years to allow maximum comfort. In addition to the three bedrooms, the house provides areas for group gathering and entertainment such as the elegant terra cotta living and dining rooms which face the sea. The living room opens up to a 40 foot open teak deck that highlights the beauty of the Pitons where guests can enjoy the breeze while watching the boats pass by. The dining room offers a table that seats a party of six and is a great spot for enjoying amazing Caribbean dinners that can be requested through the house cook, Stephanie, for a nominal fee. For a change of scenery, breakfast can be enjoyed down by the cabana where a table setting allows you to ease into your day while listening to the waterfall hit the pool.

The villa is fully staffed with (2) housekeepers, gardener, pool man and night time security, all of these services are also included in the rental price As for the cooking, should you choose to stay close to the villa on some nights (or all) we do have a cook that is available at the villa. Stephanie is our cook and makes amazing meals. She works with guests to set a menu based on their preferences and can make traditional St Lucian meals or American / European meals with a creole twist. Her meals are one of the things we miss most when we're not on the island. Stephanie's meal preparation fee is $12 USD for breakfast and $20 USD for lunch or dinner, plus the cost of any ingredients which again can be arranged for the staff to purchase on their way up to the villa each day. It should be noted that the meal prep fee is based per meal and not per person.

The Premises are equipped with exterior security cameras. Cameras are installed for the purposes of additional security during times the property is not occupied by guests. All cameras are located on the outside of the villa and directed at entry access points to the property (wall, front gate, side gate, pathway). No cameras are located in common areas (decks, pool) or inside the villa itself or have any view inside the villa or common areas. Cameras are not monitored during guest occupancy and recordings are only viewed for staff timekeeping verification, weather events, or reported incidents.

Words could never properly prepare you for the beauty that is Saint Lucia – come experience La Batterie and elevate your vacation to the next level!

One of the best villas in the entire Caribbean

We have stayed here on several occasions. The views are breathtaking. The villa is gorgeous. The staff is incredible. Cynthia makes fantastic food, and B.K., Terry, and Marylin are as friendly as can be. The town is great, the locals are great and it is very safe. Stay away from cruise ships and the crowds in Castries. Seasoned travelers stay in Sourfiere. In short, this is a world class villa in every sense of the word. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is one of my favorite spots on the planet.

Amazing views are worth it!!!

We were a group of 6 celebrating a 50th birthday milestone. Property was big enough for us to each find our own corners to relax, and morning and night we were repeatedly consumed by the views—esp from master bedroom. The staff was attentive and easy to work with. There were US and G plugs in bathrooms, ample closet spaces and despite the open concept felt that each room still had privacy. Order coffee from the gardener! Def recommend.

Dream Come True

This was truly a dream come true vacation for our family. My husband and I had been to St Lucia many years ago and wanted to return to share its beauty with our family. This spectacular villa provided the perfect opportunity. The views of the Pitons are stunning, and the home and grounds are just beautiful. We also really appreciated the staff at La Batterie. They were warm and welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful, never obtrusive, always professional. Our family enjoyed Stephanie and Bibi's delicious meals, Terry’s coffee and rain forest hike, diving, snorkeling, birding and other fun tours Clavie took us to on the island. Mike and Jennifer also did an excellent job providing information and answering all our questions in advance of the trip. We are truly grateful for the wonderful time we shared here and we all hope to return one day!

Return Trip-Living in a Postcard!

We stayed in this home for our 25th anniversary & again for our 51st! So many great memories from the past & wonderful new ones from this visit. The location & surroundings are awesome! The staff was friendly & knowledgeable-we looked forward to seeing them each day. They made our stay very pleasant & seamless. Food was great & fresh-thank you Stephanie! Beds were comfortable & well made each day- thank you Bibi! It was wonderful to wake up to the Pitons each morning & to sit on the deck at night to see the stars highlighting the shadows of the Pitons. We swam in the well maintained pool twice each day. Afternoons we could be found on the deck or in the hammock for a nap. So much to see & do in the area-Clavie’s taxi service was available & treated us well. We won’t forget our Fantastic return visit!

Views! Views! Views!..Exceptional Everything

We had an amazing time....the villa is very special, the saltwater pool is amazing and you are surrounded by beauty everywhere and the views from the villa were like looking at a postcard but only better! Your staff were very welcoming and were determined to make our visit special...the arrangements worked very well and we got to know them very well. For us it worked well as there was a lot to do within 30 mins of the villa, and Clavie was always on hand to take us to where we needed to go. I have already recommend the villa to a couple of my colleagues who I would think enjoy staying in 5* accommodation which is not part of a hotel complex. The property and the gardens are just amazing and you should be very proud of your parents for creating it and proud of yourself for adding to their legacy. Thank you for an amazing holiday and we hope to come back in the future.

Stunning views and wonderful service

My wife and I stayed here in July of 2023. It's a wonderful property. The views are even more amazing than the pictures show. With all of the staff available, it's like staying at a 5 star resort dedicated to just you. Stephanie cooking amazing meals and scheduling massages. Clavie driving you where ever you need to go. Bibi cleaning every day. Terry roasting coffee and BK watching over the property at night. All wonderful and very accommodating. We did walk down the hill to Anse Chastanet to enjoy the beach. We ran into Simon from Simon Says tours and did ziplining, the volcano mud baths and snorkeling through him, which was a great experience as well. Could we have done it all ourselves, yes. But Simon and Simon Jr were great tour guides. We would love to visit this property during the winter time and enjoy a cooler climate. Summertime can be a bit warmish, but there are plenty of fans to help keep you cool. I doubt you can find a nicer rental experience on St Lucia. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Relaxing++++

La Batterie is everything promised and more. The view is incredible and we wish we were back right now enjoying coffee or a cocktail on the porch! The weather was a constant and wonderful temperature with a breeze that kept away bugs and kept the air pleasant. The beach was an easy walk down the hill one way and town an easy walk the other way. Be sure to check out Orlando's Restaurant in town; we had a fantastic meal there. The staff excelled in all aspects--driving, meals, cleaning, care taking, etc. They were pleasant and professional and willing to accommodate all of our requests. We had a minor problem with the shower and it was fixed that day. Would definitely recommend using Clavie for driving as the roads are hilly and winding. The roads would be difficult to navigate at any time, but especially while driving on the "wrong" side of the road! One thing to know is that the house is quite open and therefore affords little privacy from conversation in the bedrooms or elsewhere in the house. We had a wonderful stay and hope to be back soon!

Breathtaking Views & Great Location

We really enjoyed our stay at La Batterie. The Villa has one of the best views on the island. It was awesome to wake up every morning and see the Pitons out our bedroom window. There is a great deck off of the living room to sit and take in the views as well. My 2 teenage sons appreciated that they each had their own bedroom and bathroom. The staff was very helpful and nice. Terry brought us freshly roasted coffee that his grandparents grow and Cynthia had some great stories about her family and about the history of the villa. Clavie was a great resource and provided us with friendly and reliable transportation. He gave us some great recommendations on restaurants and activities. The villa is an easy walk to Anse Chastanet and Anse Mamin. The walk home is uphill so a cab ride is probably better although we did walk home from the beach one afternoon. There is a ton to do in Soufriere. The Tet Paul Nature Walk, Zip Line, Gros Piton hike, sulpher baths and beaches were all a lot of fun. There is great snorkling at Anse Chastanet too. The Villa was very comfortable and open. The pool area was great too. I would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy some time in St. Lucia.

Absolutely amazing vacation!

From the moment we started planning this trip to the very end of the trip it was spectacular and exceeded all of our expectations! We had never been to St Lucia so we had lots of questions before we booked La Batterie. All of our questions were answered promptly with great enthusiasm! We were greeted by Clavie, the driver when we landed and he was so knowledgeable about the island and so friendly. He drove us on all of our adventures and was amazing and very punctual. The views driving to the property were breathtaking! Once we arrived at La Batterie we were greeted by Stephanie and her team and they were so friendly and made us wonderful meals for the week. The views from the balcony are unbelievable. It is picture perfect and we have been asked by friends if the pictures we posted are " real"- the views are that magnificent! The grounds are beautiful on the property and the pool provided many hours of entertainment for our kids after we got home from the beach. The snorkeling is the best we have ever experienced and even saw a sea turtle! BK was the night guard of the property and such a nice guy and always checked in on us. The entire staff was amazing. La Batterie is a vacation our family will remember for years to come! It was outstanding!

Amazing View with the most amazing staff.

The view and home is even better than pictured, it's a dream destination with award winning beaches close by for snorkeling/diving and beach bars, a wonderful pool for the afternoon heat and great rooms with their own bathrooms. The Cabana is a great addition...so beautiful! We shopped in the capital city, zipline'd, Botanical garden & mineral bath, enjoyed breakfast one day at Hotel Chocolat, Visited Sugar Beach and ate a fancy dinner at Caille Blanc Villa Hotel (Next door) and yet, nothing compares to this private home & staff. This is our 2nd time staying and it was great to re-connect with the house staff, they are as impressive as this view. We absolutely love Stephanie & BB, who everyday kept the rooms so clean & cooked the best food on the island!!! plus Terry the gardner has worked for this family for over 40 years, grows & roast his own coffee and such a joy to talk to. We drive in lots of other countries but NOT here. You really need 4 wheel drive and more extensive knowledge of the area and streets, So this house has a driver to pay as taxi service, Clavie who we just loved his services and he is way more skilled to drive these roads. It is always hard to say goodbye to the staff, so we say "We will see you again". Thank you Michael for allowing this amazing home to be rented and taking such great care of your staff who just made us all feel so welcome & Thank you for the Champagne to celebrate my Sister & Brother-in Laws 50th Anniversary, this trip was absolutely a dream trip for them with lots of fun photos & videos to cherish for years.

Incredible Stay at La Batterie

Previous reviews are on the money – the view of the Pitons while relaxing on the deck is truly an amazing site. Our family of 7 stayed at La Batterie for four nights and we had a fabulous time. Jennifer and Michael (the owners) and the amazing staff made us feel extremely welcomed right from the start. They definitely went above and beyond! La Batterie is truly a beautiful home; the rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Our family spent a lot of time in the gorgeous pool (and surrounding lush gardens) and loved every minute of it. The “open air” concept is new to us so it took some time getting used to it. The only issue that we had to deal with were some bug bites, but we were there during the rainy season and slept comfortably in our mosquito nets. The staff were incredibly helpful in accommodating us and addressing any of our concerns or inquiries. La Batterie is also very close to several beautiful beaches and resorts; we rented a 4x4 which certainly came in handy as the roads and hills can be challenging to maneuver. A special shout-out to all of the staff – and in particular to Stephanie who did an incredible overall job and cooked us some amazing meals, as well as to Terry who was so knowledgeable and helpful and guided us through a wonderful hike through the rain forest. Absolutely no regrets staying at the La Batterie, we will cherish the special treatment that we received as well as the views and the memories that will last us a lifetime. The Ingalls

Out of this World

La Batterie holds a special place in my heart. There are so many factors that contribute to the originality and beauty of this villa. This was my second stay and yet again, amazing. The view is unforgettable and cannot be described in words. Every morning I would wake up to the Piton Mountains and glistening Caribbean Sea with a nice cup of Saint Lucian coffee - pure bliss. La Batterie has the best view on the island, hands-down. The gardens are exquisite and unique. During my stay, I noticed a new flower, plant or tree every single day. The pool is spectacular. There is a waterfall feature that creates a beautiful backdrop for reading and relaxing. I spent a lot of time by the pool and loved every minute. The bedrooms at La Batterie are charming and spacious. They also each have a private balcony. The deck off of the living room is my favorite spot inside the house. During my stay we started and ended the day on the deck. Last but not least, the staff at La Batterie make the experience one-of-a-kind. They are wonderful, hospitable and courteous. They ensure everything is perfect and take care of everything from washing linens to cooking home made dinners - highly recommend! It is evident that the owners and staff put their heart into this villa. As always, I am deeply grateful for my time at La Batterie and I look forward to another visit in the future. This villa truly is my version of paradise.

Absolutely stunning!

I have looked so forward to writing this review of La Batterie Villa. My only concern is that others will discover this jewel, and we won't be able to rent it in the future! From beginning to end, Michael Keane was an incredibly approachable, affable, and gracious host. The house itself is fantastic, and just what one would expect of an island getaway. Open and breezy, comfortable and darling, I can't say enough about the accommodations. And the staff!! They are all perfect examples of the St. Lucian people. We were made to feel right at home, welcome and every little thing we asked for, was answered and more. Miss Cynthia's cooking was great and much appreciated; Miss Marilyn and Miss Stephanie bright and shiny; Terry the gardener roasted fresh coffee beans for our mornings and brought us many different local spices to bring home; and BK the night watchman made us feel safe and secure every single night. And Clavie, well, he is beyond wonderful. Wherever, whenever, we wanted to go somewhere, he was right there. The beach at Anse Chastanet was our favorite spot with the "huts" on the beach, yummy food and cold drinks and wait staff that we got to know and vice versa. We have traveled all over the Carribean and used VRBO all over the world and U.S. Never, have we had this kind of positive experience. Don't hesitate to rent La Batterie if you ever get the chance to go to St. Lucia. I promise you, you will come home and begin planning your next trip there. Because, when you leave, you will have left a part of your heart there. Thank you Michael and Jennifer for sharing your retreat with others. It's a trip we will never forget.

A charming retreat w/amazing staff&stunning views

Our group of seven arrived on the island for 10 days to celebrate my husband's 50th Birthday in early November. We were greeted at La Batterie with breathtaking views of the Pitons and a gorgeous villa that had all the Caribbean charm we had hoped for. After our tour, it seemed a little overwhelming and but we quickly found our way around. The pool area was beautiful and wonderfully private. The kitchen was well equipped, although we mostly opted for Stephanie to prepare some local favourites for us. We highly recommend her Spicy Beef Roti! All the staff were very welcoming and helpful in any way that we needed. If you ask, Terry will bring you fresh papaya and grapefruit. ...I have never had white grapefruit that was as sweet and juicy as what he brought for us. For the adventurous, the villa is close enough to walk the twenty minutes into the town of Soufriere, just be prepared to get your exercise back up the hill to the villa! You may want to try dinner at Orlando's in town. It was probably one of the best meals we have ever had, although it was a little pricier than other restos on town. The Petit Peak and Pier 28 were also good. Clavie gave us a tour that included zip lining, the waterfall, drive in volcano and mud baths...so much fun!! We also went to the fish fry in Anse La Raye which was very tasty. Hiking the Pitons was a very challenging but the views at the top were worth the effort. Be fore warned, it is not a hike for the weak kneed or faint of heart! La Batterie is the perfect home away from home and we hope to get back again very soon. Whether it's sipping your morning coffee or a rum punch while watching the sunset, you will never cease to be spellbound by the views from the main deck. We are still dreaming of it!

Honeymoon in Paradise!

“La Batterie has one of the most amazing views we have ever experienced! The house is big and open, feeling like its part of nature, sitting on what feels like an acre or more of land to explore. There is plenty of space for a big group to enjoy each other's company, inside and out, especially on the deck and by the pool. Each bedroom is large with plenty of closet space and updated bathrooms. The house is also quite secure with keyed locks on every door. It is also packed with all sorts of accessories including pool toys, games, speakers, bug spray, sunscreen and tons of other goodies. The house is on the side of a mountain in the jungle, with a big drop down of the balcony overlooking the pitons. Being in the jungle, there are all sorts of critters and sounds that made it feel very exotic, which was a fun and unique experience. The staff was amazing and friendly, letting you know that they were there but still offering lots of privacy. Stephanie is a great cook, especially the beef roti and curry chicken with coconut rice, while Bibi and Marylin kept the house looking great every day. Terry does a great job caring for the jungle-like outdoor area with what feels like thousands of plants. BK was great as well, being very helpful when we had any issues after hours. Clavie was an excellent driver and tour guide, sharing lots of local knowledge and recommendations. Host Michael was very responsive, the quickest responding host we have engage. He gave us so many suggestions and was amazing to work with. The walk to the beach is quite steep, so comfortable shoes would be recommended. Also, plan and pack for the day (lunch, drinks, etc) so you don't have to make multiple trips. For dinner, we would highly recommend Dasheene at Ladera. We would also recommend a sunset cruise from Soufriere to meet other tourists in the area.” We would highly recommend this villa to anyone traveling to St. Lucia.

Best family vacation

Thank you so much for the follow up email and sorry for the delay in responding. It has been difficult for all of us to adjust back to the real world here in the states! We had an absolute wonderful time at your home on St Lucia. Words and even pictures don't do it justice - the villa and views and accommodations are absolutely amazing. We often had to pinch ourselves each time we looked out over the blue water towards the Pitons as it truly is picture perfect! Each staff member was amazinf and made us feel very welcome and taken care of. Stephanie cooked several Lucian inspired dinners for us and wow were they phenomenal. Our only regret is not having her cook more meals for us - it was very relaxing to come home from a day's outing and have a delicious meal in the oven waiting on us. Clavie did a great job getting us around the island and was available anytime we needed him. Being in an unknown location Clavie made us feel very safe and comfortable and I truly believe he knows everyone on the island! I am very glad we didn't rent a car as Clavie made all of excursions that much better. He is a great person and we really enjoyed getting to know him better. Terry does a great job tending to the property and we really enjoyed getting to know him...he is a great man and one of the hardest working men we've met in quite some time. He took us on a fantastic guided tour of the rainforest and waterfall. Marilyn was very kind and was always a joy to be around. We never felt unsafe on the island or at the villa...everyone we met on the island was very friendly and welcoming. It was a nice added benefit to have BK at the house every night. Being a father of two young daughters that was comforting to know he was there. The walk down the hill to Anse Chastenet beach was very doable and like most other reviewers mentioned the walk up was a bit more challenging. But having the pool to jump into upon our return was perfect. The beach at Anse Chastanet was more than we could have hoped for! The snorkeling was amazing - best snorkeling I've ever experienced! You have a wonderful home and we had an amazing vacation - thank you so much for opening it up and allowing others to experience it. We cannot wait to come back!!!

Beautiful Villa with Magnificent View of Pitons

Our experience in St. Lucia was fantastic from beginning to end. We spent spring vacation with our two teenagers who love to hike and snorkel. The villa was just as described and better with lush gardens, a beautiful deck, and comfortable window seats for reading all with the Pitons and the peaceful bay in view. The villa is a short walk to the beach, snorkeling, and some restaurants, and a short car ride Soufriere for hiking and sites. The staff were friendly, helpful, and in tune with our needs. They took good care of us, but we never felt they were in the way because of the good layout of the house. The driver, Clavie, met us at the airport and made us feel welcome right away. Stephanie, Marilyn, and Frances kept the house spotlessly clean and washed clothes when we needed. Terry kept the gardens looking beautiful and brought us coffee, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and mace from his family farm. BK welcomed us back after our evening outings. Stephanie made our delicious welcome dinner and cooked for us a few other times during the week. Our favorite dishes were chicken curry, beef roti, and a surprise chocolate birthday cake! The owner, Michael, was very helpful in helping us organize our vacation, answering our questions about the island, and making sure we were well taken care of during our stay. He has gathered a wonderful group of people to take care of the villa and guests. On three of the days, we walked down the hill with our snorkel gear to Anse Chastenet. It worked well for us to rent chairs and an umbrella near the Marine Reserve so we could get out of the sun when needed. The beach restaurant was great for lunch on those days. The highlight was hiking the Gros Piton and we also loved Tet Paul Nature Trail and Diamond Botanical Garden with mineral baths and waterfall. Visiting the volcano and hot springs was also memorable. For dinners out, we enjoyed Boucan at Hotel Chocolat, Dasheen at Ladera, Orlando's, and Hummingbird Hotel (on Wednesday night with the reggae band.) And we loved Martha's Tables and Martha's sister's restaurant Fedo's for lunch. It worked well to go out later for dinner after we enjoyed the sunset and magical views from the villa deck, except when we ate at Ladera with it's unique view. Probably, the best part of the island were the people. They were very open and friendly, and took pride in everything they did. We would recommend this villa to our family and friends and we hope to return to climb Le Petit Piton!

We spent a glorious week at La Batterie. There were 5 of us ranging in age from 37 to 70 and everyone found their happy place. For starters the owners Michael and Jeniffer were a pleasure to work with. They are friendly, responsive, helpful and trustworthy. Michael answered all of my questions and put to rest any concerns I had. The Villa is exactly as you see in the photo's - only better because now you are there. I would describe it as Authentic Plantation Style, Open-Air, Rustic, Sprawling and Inviting. You have a million dollar view of the Pitons and the sea from the front deck. The grounds are Lush and Tropical. There are hidden stone steps and paths all around. Take time to explore the property. The Salt Water Pool and Cabana were our favorite hangout. Always sparkling and refreshing. Sun or Shade available throughout the day. Your choice. Plenty of seating for everyone. This Villa is located on the road to Anse Chastanet Resort. Yes. The road is steep and bumpy, but with Clavie behind the wheel we hardly noticed....not only is Clavie the best driver on the island, he is friendly and reliable. I swear he knows everyone in St. Lucia. He assisted us with everything from dinner reservations at Ladera and Anse Chastanet to Zip Lining and Dolphin Watching. He even managed to get a "birthday shout out" on the local radio station for one of us and had Stephanie bake a nice big birthday cake. Stephanie also cooked for us. We enjoyed beef rolls, pizza, and bakes. She also shopped for fresh fish, cleaned it and marinated it for us. Upon request she restocked our supplies and kept all of us happy and content. Marilyn and Frances made sure the villa was clean and our beds were prepared for the night. Always smiling and willing to help. Terry has worked for the Villa for more than 20 years and takes great care of the plant life. He was our source for Fresh Coffee Beans, Spices and Clay Pots. We were able to purchase these items for home. How nice to return home with a bit of the island in your suitcase. BK - the night watchman must have done a good job. We seldom ran into him as we were sleeping like babies in our beds. Safe and Sound. We loved the Villa and enjoyed each and every staff member. Look forward to seeing them next year as we plan to return.
