Rent a charming castle at the heart of the Bourbonnais

At the heart of the bourbonnais, 25 km from moulins, the Paray-le-Frésil castle, built under Louis XIII' reign, was for Georges Simenon the source of inspiration of one of his most famous works, l'Affaire Saint-Fiacre .

The castle can comfortably house up to 14 people (cots for babies are at your disposal).

The ground floor of the castle:
- The kitchen and laundry room are completely equipped.

- The TV room (flat screen TV, DVD, Canal sat, international channels and cartoons).

- The dining room, the small and large lounges are decorated in the style of the time, each of the rooms has its own chimney, as well as wainscoting and family portraits. The large living room is usually reserved for entertainment: table for playing cards, foosball, music, dancing.

- Wireless internet is available throughout the castle.


The castle's park:
The castle opens onto an English park of 10 hectares, a pond and wood in which you may walk as much as you please. In order to take advantage of this magnificent view, a garden lounge has been placed in front of the house, an ideal place to enjoy apéritifs or your meals. The vegetable garden allows you to enjoy the flowers and vegetables of the season.

The swimming pool (5m/10) is located 100 m from the house. Its location is ideal as it gives onto the castle, as well as the park and pond.

A peaceful stay at the chateau

Accommodation in a quiet location in an area with plenty of sights and leisure activities. Pleasant evenings by the fireplace alternated with breakfast on the terrace. The owner is very helpful and friendly.

It was fantastic to stay at the chateau. Very Nice tranquil environment, perfect to destress. A Nice swimming pool to get refreshed during hot summer days. Good comfortabel beds. Everything you need on the kitchen to cook. Very friendly castle owner who helps every time you need her. In short: perfect!

Lovely stay and view in historical surroundings

We enjoyed the stay in Paray and the castle very much. The property, with a nice view on the horses and a small lake,including the birds voices makes you awake in a good mood. There is all you need for a nice stay but don't expect perfection in luxus; it is an historical property and you have to respect that! The people who live on the estate, inclusive the owners, are friendly and interesting. We recommend a stay

Amazing stay

Don't go into Chateau Paray-Le-Fresil expecting all the mod cons and luxury but embrace the history and character it provide. Fishing lakes on site provided days of entertainment. The pool was checked daily and is a welcome relief from the heat. The lovely owner lives on site and is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The village is very pretty and quiet, no shops or pubs walkable (maybe bikeable if you bring one with you) but plenty to do and visit in local towns and villages. Would absolutely recommend for getting away and staying in some genuine French history

Accueil chaleureux, et très attentionné tout au long de la semaine. Confort. calme ,espace, piscine très bien entretenue, ménage à la demande. Esmeralda, la propriétaire a été très prévenante, y compris dans son aide pour la gestion d' une panne de véhicule juste à la fin di séjour. La semaine a été vraiment superbe. Fantastische hide away

We hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad in het kasteel. Verwacht geen grootse luxe, maar wel charme, geschiedenis en vooral een waanzinnig mooi domein waar de rust onbetaalbaar is.

Une idée du bonheur

Esmeralda nous a très bien accueilli dans son superbe château chargé d'histoire. Le lieu est magnifique, un grand parc pour se promener entre les étangs, admirer les chevaux en profitant de la grande table en terrasse. Les chambres sont grandes et presque toute équipée de salle de bains, La cuisine est grande et très bien équipée, vous aurez le privilège d'utiliser l'argenterie blasonnée du chateau, vous profiterez de grandes cheminées pour faire durer vos tablées jusqu'à très tard dans la nuit. Alors soyons clair, tout n'est pas neuf, tout n'est pas parfait mais ce chateau vit et vous parle, il ne manque rien et vous prenez place dans l'Histoire au milieu des photos des chatelains. Un immense merci encore à Esmeralda pour son accueil, sa bonne humeur et son humour ravageur. Elle faisait partie de notre groupe d'amis.

Merveilleux séjour bourbonnais

Nous avons eu le plaisir de séjourner au Château pour 3 jours et nous en garderons un excellent souvenirs. Le château a été le 15 ème membre de notre famille ! Le cadre est idyllique, le calme et la quiètude du lieu ont été très appréciés, le chant des oiseaux vous bercent et le parc vous permet aisement de faire une promenade. C'est l'endroit idéal pour des week-end en famille. Les chambres sont spacieuses, la literie confortable, la grande cuisine est très bien équipée, les pièces de réception suffisamment grandes pour être très à l'aise quand on est nombreux. Ce week-end sera pour nous tous inoubliable. Je recommande vivement. Un grand merci à Esmeralda de Tracy pour son accueil chaleureux et fort sympathique

Excellent - but don't expect perfection!

Wonderful chateau in glorious surroundings, excellent pool, very welcoming owners (marquis and wife living nearby). Don't book it if you want everything to be perfect: some of the building and its contents are in urgent need of renovation, the electrics are antique, the Wifi's erratic and there are bats and pigeons in the attics. But if (like us) you can live with this, you'll have a great and unforgettable holiday. Un beau domaine et un château our se détendre.

Le château avec ses chambres spacieuses et le domaine avec de grands arbres sont un endroit merveilleux pour être. Les propriétaires et le personnel sont sympathiques et serviables. Ce fut une joie de rentrer à la maison après un voyage.

The chateau is beautiful - in need of some renovations but has an old world charm. Great grounds.

As with all things who you are with matters most. There were 10 of us and 4 kids - the amenities were great. Adults enjoyed cooking and eating outside with a view of the property and the pool. Do not expect luxury but do expect space with character and lots of charm. Hosts were great. Nice options for day trips.

Beautiful chateau

Beautiful chateau in original state, with period decoration and atmosphere. Wonderful and extensive grounds, in a tranquil location. Owners (direct descendants of the original 17th Century family who built the chateau) are delightful and made their entire chateau available to us, including use of their herb garden. Our only reservation is that some of the beds are French size and hence too short for some of our tall Northern European family members.

Beau château et domaine, mais il devrait y avoir qq rénovations

On s'est bien amusé ! Les enfants et nous ont bien aimé prendre vacances dans un château. Des balades sur la domaine, cache cache dans le jardin et le chateau. Les gens du château étaient très gentils. Tout était nettoyé, il y avait une grande équipe pour nettoyer, mais rien n'était vraiment propre. C'est plutôt une question de renouveler que de nettoyer je crains. La cuisine devrait être renouvelé au plus vite possible et après ça il rest plein d'autres choses sur la liste. Après tout c'étaient des superbes vacances parce qu'on n'est pas des gens qui se plaignent en vacances, mais je ne pense pas que tout les autres visiteurs sont autant optimiste que notre groupe.

Charme de l'ancien.

Tout est authentique, magnifique et chargé d'histoire, tout est charmant mais toutefois assez vétuste. Les propriétaires et leurs chiens habitent tout près dans les communs et passent tous les jours, ce qui fait que l'on s"y sent plutôt comme dans une maison d'hôte. Tant les armoires, penderies et tiroirs sont pleins de leurs affaires personnelles que l'on a l'impression qu'ils quittés les lieux la veille ! Les literies sont en bon état. L'office est bien équipé pour cuisiner, et contient une vaisselle généreuse. Le système de maintenance de la piscine est fatigué et le factotum intervient tous les jours. Les arbres du parc sont magnifiques et invitent à la promenade en forêt immédiate. Nous y avons passé un bon séjour en famille.

Morbide - aber schön

Mir zehn Erwachsenen waren wir eine Woche im Schloss. Der Eindruck am Anfang ist schon etwas seltsam. Ein Schloss, das an vielen Stellen schon ziemlich morbide wirkt. Und dennoch fühlt man sich bald wohl. Große Schlafzimmer, viele Räume, Platz ohne Ende und - Atmosphäre! Wir haben uns zunehmend wohl gefühlt in diesem Haus. Vieles ist nicht auf dem neuesten Stand, aber vielleicht dient gerade dies dem Wohlfühlen. Der Pool ist schön, der Ausblick toll, das Dorf liebenswert und die Betreuung absolut in Ordnung. Wir hatten eine wunderbare Woche. Ach ja, den Empfehlungen zu den Restaurants sollte man unbedingt folgen.

" un havre idéal pour une famille avec trois générations "

Notre séjour avec nos enfants et petits-enfants a pleinement répondu à nos attentes. La maison vit de son histoire, qui nous raconte l'histoire de France dans ses racines profondes. La maison est spacieuse, confortable, fraîche en périodes de grosses chaleurs, bien adaptée pour des couples avec de jeunes enfants. Les pelouses permettent aux grands comme aux petits de s'ébattre à volonté ; les grands arbres offrent une ombre bienfaisante, la piscine, de bonne dimension, donne une belle valeur ajoutée à la qualité du séjour.Le cadre est magnifique avec son étang et les chevaux autour. Nous soulignons la qualité du service quotidien, tant pour l'entretien de la maison que des extérieurs. Enfin, on se saurait assez vanter l'hospitalité de nos hôtes, charmants, avenants, soucieux de nous faire connaître et aimer cette belle région du Bourbonnais. Nous les remercions encore et espérons avoir la joie d'y retourner un jour.

Magnifique demeure de charme située dans un parc non moins sublime!

Le château de Paray Le Fresil est l'endroit parfait pour passer un agréable séjour en famille ou entre amis. Niché dans un parc anglais de plusieurs hectares, il offre toutes les commodités dont vous avez besoin. Le coin piscine est agréable et bien exposé. Et la région gagne réellement à être connue, avec beaucoup d'activités "nature" à proximité. Enfin, les hôtes, Esmeralda et Victoire, sont d'une grande gentillesse.

A Birthday Treat

We had the most marvellous time at the Chateau. I had too many friends decide at last minute to join me on my birthday adventure, that we also had to rent another cottage on the property. With friends from all over the world descending, the Marquess and the Marquis were wonderful host, always available when needed, yet leaving us alone when not. A kitchen large enough to cook grand family meals, grounds big enough to walk, a beautiful pool to swim and lounge by, we all had a wonderful times celebrating my birthday at the Chateau. In the family room the fascinating history of the Chateau is documented in books. With something for everyone, and a large outdoors to entertain I definitely recommend this chateau for anyone who wants a place to celebrate. What lacks in new fittings makes up for in personality authenticity and ease.

Avons été merveilleusement reçus à chacun de nos séjours passés dans ce lieu idyllique où, accueil, gentillesse et disponibilité sont les maîtres mots, et reviendrons cette année avec le plus grand plaisir ! Le site est on ne peut plus calme et ressourçant, les gîtes sont très plaisants , joliment agencés et très bien entretenus, la cuisine est excellente et raffinée. Vous recherchez une location en Bourbonnais pour un week-end , pour des vacances ? nous vous recommandons vivement cet endroit de charme !
