St Rémy de Provence - Charming family house with large garden and pool

Le Mas des Roseaux is a charming 5 bedroom vacation rental set in 3000m2 of beautiful landscaped grounds, all enclosed by reeds ('roseaux') and cypress trees. The property offers complete privacy and is not overlooked by others, whether swimming in the pool, playing croquet on the lawn or dining under the pergola. The pool is at the end of the garden with a lovely view towards the house, and if required for small children can be safely separated by a discreet barrier (removable).
It is a warm and comfortable holiday home for up to 8 adults and 2 children, perfect for a holiday with friends or a family get-together.

The owners often stay at the house which is therefore equipped for a family and maintained to a high level of comfort with all modern amenities. This makes for a welcoming and cosy house, highly recommended by previous renters.

The house has 5 bedrooms, one downstairs and 4 upstairs (all of them with AC), all with views of the garden. The master bedroom has en suite bathroom with bath and shower and there are 2 other bathrooms upstairs, each with shower and toilet. The downstairs bedroom has its own shower room and toilet next door.

Downstairs you will find a spacious living area with comfortable couches, fireplace, office corner and a separate library area full of English books (and also a handy corner for children to play in!) The sitting rooms have AC .
There is Wifi, satellite TV, video player, a Bose sound system as well as a printer.
This area opens onto a charming vine-covered terrace overlooking the garden with a table that can sit 14 as well as a small BBQ house.
As the owners love to cook the kitchen is extremely well equipped including a large Lacanche stove, and has a table for up to 10 for eating inside on a cool night.

The pool area has 10 lounge chairs and 1 hammock. You can choose to sit in the shade of the trees or in the sun as you prefer. There are also plenty of pool toys for kids. Ping pong table, badminton and other games for playing outside.
Near the house there are deck chairs, benches and other comfortable chairs for the aperitif with a view of the garden.

The house has an extensive Guidebook not only to the house but to all activities in the area, places to visit, restaurants, markets, sports … , much appreciated by our guests.

Wonderful vacation

We had a fabulous time in this beautiful home. It was welcoming, comfortable and very well stocked. The pool was enjoyed by everyone and was a huge relief during the hot temperatures. We had all our meals outside and loved the BBQ hut. The house was very nicely located close to Saint Remy. We also had fun with the provided bikes and ping pong table. Angéline was very nice and greeted us warmly. Thank you Bente for inviting us into your lovely home.

The Best Holiday!

This was the perfect choice for our family. The house is beautifully situated near St.Remy with everything you could possibly need. Kitchen is well stocked games lovely swimming pool. The owners were very helpful and check in was made easy. Would love to return!

Opportunity to stay in a beautiful setting in a wonderful house

So much to love about this large home just outside the destination stop of St Remy. I cannot praise sufficiently the private setting, swimming pool we all enjoyed, convenient markets and ease of dining in nearby restaurants or at the house. We utilized the outdoor table under the pergola as often as we could. The comfort throughout the house amplified our stay. Bravo!

Family vacation

Every 5 years we try and bring our family (6 of us) to a special place. This was the best yet! The house is located 10 minutes from St Remy and in the country and is beautiful The grounds and pool were perfectly kept and the house was perfect for us. The kitchen is very well supplied and we ate all our meals on the beautiful veranda. Wonderful, couldn't recommend it more highly.

Perfect Provence Home

The pictures of the property do not do the house justice. The garden is stunning, and all of the rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen is set up to cook, which we did (a lot). We had 8 adults, and we all had plenty of room. The homeowners have tons of information around to make the stay easy. St Remy is very centrally located, and there were many options for day trips from there. There are wineries all around, and the market in St Remy is something to behold. Our only regret is only staying for a week. The home is beautiful, and we would happily book there again.

Close to town. Very peaceful & beautiful surroundings. Fantastic pool. Was great to be able to lounge around the pool on nice days. Was able to easily prepare wonderful meals in the well equpped kitchen. However, need a new drip coffee maker. Great beds and linens. Lots of privacy. I could go on and on. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back. Angeline was very gracious. THANK YOU!

Wonderful villa & location

I had carefully read the reviews before booking the villa and it did not disappoint! Inside was charming, comfortable and very well-equipped. We only had 4 people but the villa is spacious and could easily accommodate several more. The grounds, as others have mentioned, are simply unbelievable. We've rented many homes in the U.S. and abroad and this was probably our favorite. Angeline was so helpful and friendly and check-in was effortless. The owner, Bente, was also great to work with throughout the process and was flexible about a late check in as we trained from Paris. We also loved Saint Remy and were so glad we chose this town as our base as it was large enough to offer choice in restaurants (as well as shopping) but easy to navigate in terms of driving and walking. The people were also incredibly helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend everything about the villa and hope to return soon! Thanks for a wonderful stay! Jill Heinrich Iowa City, IA

Our week in Heaven

My husband, and our two boys (age 3 & 6) decided to rent the fabulous villa with our respective parents and had a fantastic time. There is so much to see and explore in that region and I feel -despite daily excursions- that we're only explored a tiny part of Provence. The whole property was MAGNIFIQUE. Bedrooms are comfortable, A/C in all but one, with a lot of light. Pool is beyond-belief wonderful We worried about the pool being not hot enough without a heater but the pool temperature was always perfect. The summer sun is so strong in Provence so it's a non-issue. Kitchen is perfectly equipped, we cooked and ate outside every single night. Everything in this house was impeccable, and we plan to be back, if not yearly, several more times.

Traumhaftes Anwesen mit persönlicher Note

Absolut empfehlenswertes Haus und Anwesen für eine grössere Gruppe, wie wir es waren, die gerne die schönen Seiten des Lebens geniesst: Zusammen kochen, essen, trinken, gemeinsame Ausflüge in die Umgebung (Arles, Les Baux, St. Rémy usw.) oder einfach nur am und im Pool entspannen - das wundervolle Haus war ein idealer Standort und Ausgangspunkt. Ganz besonders gefallen hat uns der gedeckte Sitzplatz, der uns vor Hitze aber auch vor Mistral geschützt hat und so lauschige Abende im Freien erlaubt hat. Äusserst fürsorgliches und sympathisches Besitzerehepaar!

Un sejour de toute beauté

Une fois le portail de la propriete refermé nos yeux se tournent vers le parc somptueux ombragé magnifiquement entretenu de pins et de plantes de toutes sortes d'oliviers de cyprès et de fleurs la piscine est parfaite et l'habitation : le mas aux aspects typiques regionaux est extrêmement confortable décoré de 1000 attentions, un sejour parfait s'il en est, un accueil et disponibilité de tout instant de la part d'Angeline que nous remercions.

A perfect Provençal stay

Everything about this villa was wonderful. Bente was exceptionally easy to deal with and Angeline got us settled in on our arrival. The villa is beautiful, well-equipped and convenient for exploring the surrounding villages. The pool was welcome during this late-season warm spell. The kitchen was ideal for creating our evening meals with the food we had gathered from the nearby markets , and we made good use of the barbecue. Eating our dishes al-fresco was such a delight on the patio, overlooking the forested landscape. I can’t say enough about what a wonderful place this is.

Exceptional provincial family home - we absolutely loved every second of our stay !!!

This stunning and traditional provincial property felt like home straight away. We had rented this property on the basis that my husband and I would get married in Provence. Bente the owner was so incredibly helpful with anything we needed in establishing contacts within the area to make our planning easier. She really went above and beyond to help and ensure we had an enjoyable time in st Remy. Even organised a wedding cake for us at the local Pattisserie! The home itself is very comfortable. It is set up for the owners family and children and grandchildren so there are lots of games to play on the grounds - we especially enjoyed the table tennis and croquet but there are lots of pool equipment and other things too. We really enjoyed having dinner and drinks in the garden with our family most evenings and we also hired the suggested local chef to cook for us one evening - Yvan ! He was amazing!!! St remy is a beautiful village and this location is very close to town but feels like you are in the middle of the country. The gardens are very well maintained and cared for. We absolutely loved our stay and will defiantly be back.

A perfect week in Provence

We stayed at Mas des Roseaux for one week with another couple and had a relaxing, fun time. The house and grounds are just as pictured and described, except possibly better. The house is very comfortable, and the kitchen very well equipped. That came in handy when Angeline, the wonderful property manager, arranged for a chef from the area to come in to prepare a traditional Provencal meal for us. The evening was a highlight of the week. We enjoyed going to nearby towns and to local markets, but we also enjoyed hanging around the house for leisurely meals under the loggia, and reading and swimming in the afternoon. The air conditioning was more than sufficient, even in August. We also followed local custom and closed the shutters to the doors against the hot afternoon sun, which kept the house quite cool. It was convenient to be close to town, and peaceful to be outside town in a quiet neighborhood. We would love to come back!

Our review of a terrific stay

This is a magnificent property that exceeded all expectations for our family of ten, including 3 young children. In recent years, we have rented homes in the Dordogne, Alsace, and Seaside (FL), and this will be our favorite. The villa, the pool, and its grounds are meticulously maintained. The property is surrounded by lush gardens and high trees which gave a sense of isolation. We never heard any noise from the road or nearby residences. The owner and local manager were instantly available for any and all concerns. For example, the mechanical front gate broke, and the manager was on-site in 5 minutes, with the gate repaired promptly the next morning. The owners’ book for renters outlines everything about the property and area. It provides extensive and meaningful information about resources and things to do. It’s the best that I’ve seen. While the entire house is not air conditioned, every bedroom as well as one of the living rooms had individual quite units. We often kept the downstairs doors open to take advantage of the wind. Even though there area had unusually hot temperatures during our stay, the entire house was very comfortable. We took advantage of in-villa dining one evening, which proved to be the favorite dining experience for the week. On another evening, we used the propane grill to cook steaks and vegetables. Supermarket, wine, and specialty food stores are within 6 minutes of the villa. The principle Luberon hill towns and Pont du Gard are 45-60 minutes away, creating several full days of targeted sightseeing, shopping, canoeing, and hiking. But, there’s plenty to do in the immediate area. There are nearby quaint towns with excellent small restaurants that are also kid-friendly (Millane, Fontvielle, Maussane, and Paradou). Arles and Avignon are quick 25 minute drives (just plan your public parking lots in advance). The nearby Avignon TGV station is a large and modern facility sitting on the southern outskirts of Avignon. All major rental cars are located on site. You don’t travel within the city and its associated traffic. In summary, our family highly recommends this property without any reservation.

Two Weeks at Mas Des Roseaux

We booked Mas Des Roseaux in early 2021 while searching for a post-Covid vacation home in Provence for ourselves and two adult daughters and their spouses. Upon our arrival a year later, we were delighted to discover that this lovely country home was even more wonderful than the photos and description. The house, gardens and pool were exceptionally beautiful and peaceful, and the owners, Bente and Paul most gracious and accommodating.. Being very close to St Remy, and centrally located in southern France, we were able to spend our days exploring towns and villages, markets, restaurants and antiquities, and still be home for an early evening swim and dinner on the patio. The house and rooms were well-appointed, the kitchen well-equipped and of special note was the "Blue Binder" compiled by Bente and Paul with an incredible list of recommendations of things to see and do, places to eat, which we used as our bible during our visit. Parfaite maison de vacances pour adultes et enfants

Nous avons passé deux semaines d'août au Mas des Roseaux, d'abord en famille puis entre amis. Beaucoup d'avantages à cette maison: le jardin est magnifique avec ses grands arbres qui donnent de l'ombre à toute heure du jour, et protègent aussi du vent en cas de mistral. Le coin piscine - très agréable - est séparé du reste du jardin par une clôture, ce que nous avons apprécié, ayant de jeunes enfants. L'ensemble est extrêmement calme, pas de voisinage immédiat. Nous nous sommes immédiatement sentis chez nous dans cette maison. Elle est très confortable et plein de charme. La cuisine est grande et très bien équipée, et donne directement sur la terrasse ombragée par la tonnelle. Les chambres sont charmantes et les salles de bain sont nickel. A noter aussi dehors un barbecue au gaz facile d'utilisation bien pratique pour les soirées brochettes. Les propriétaires sont charmants. Le jardin est soigneusement entretenu par un jardinier qui vient régulièrement. Les commerces sont à Saint Rémy à 5 minutes de voiture. Enfin la région est superbe entre les villages typiques des alentours (St Rémy, Eygalières, les Baux) et le massif des Alpilles.

We come down to the sun regularly as do our daughters with their children (from Rome and Brussels).

Why they chose this property

it has everything except the sea - and even that is only an hour away : Provence life and apparently the sunniest place in France, world-class music/dance/theatre/photography festivals in the surrounding area, possibilities for hiking and biking not to forget the good food and wine.
The proximity to an airport and a TGV station both for us and our children was an important aspect.

What makes this property unique

We spent 10 years looking for a property in the south of France and Italy and ended up deciding on St Rémy. Why? Because of the sun, a great region with numerous and excellent cultural activities (music, theatre, photo etc) and also its outdoor life : hiking in les Alpilles and biking (many bike paths near our house). The Avignon theatre Festival is a fantastic experience as is the Arles Photo Exhibition.
This is a place that you can visit all year round which was essential for us.
