Charming Gateway to Tuscany - The scenic House of the Lamps in Val d'Orcia

This cosy and quiet home dating back to 1300, recently equipped with a strong Wi-Fi connection, has an infinite view on the valley, in San Quirico d’Orcia, and is a charming gateway to Tuscany, along the ancient Via Francigena, the path travelled for centuries by pilgrims of all times. You’ll be staying in the historic center of one of the most typical villages in Val D'Orcia, whose landscapes are declared to be part of the World Heritage by UNESCO for their beauty. You will enjoy a dive into the quiet country life while appreciating a lively village with many towns to visit in the surroundings as well. The apartment and town centre are always very calm and quiet all year round, even when there are small fairs, markets and local historical events and pageants. It will be pleasant to relax at home after wandering about all day. As you can see from the photos, the apartment has been furnished with particular care. Along with some modern elements, it has various interesting pieces of furniture and antiques that contribute to creating it's charm with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, playing between history and the contemporary. There are also elements like the lamps that were specially designed by the previous owner, and some works of art (sculptures and paintings) to complement and enrich the atmosphere. You will realize for yourself that each object has been carefully thought out to coontribute to the overall effect.
The apartment has a strong Wi-Fi connection to the internet and you can also launch films or other from the computer or your devices directly to the TV with Chromecast. If you have an Italian Sky subscription, you can use your card in the Sky decoder to watch Sky.
You will find plenty of tourist info in the flat, and tourist guides for San Quirico and surroundings and cards for good restaurants. You can also use the CDs and DVDs etc. Please put everything back at the end of your stay.
From 15 April to 15 October the rates do not include heating and cooling which, if requested, will have an extra cost of 10 € per day, payable on site. In any case the apartment is very cool and airy even during the summer so you will probably not need any air conditioning, but let us know if you prefer having it.

CASA FANTASTICA

L'appartamento di Margherita è stato un vero e proprio colpo di fulmine. Arredato con gusto e attenzione ai dettagli, era dotato di TUTTO il necessario per cucinare, compresi olio, sale grosso, spezie, aceto, utensili e pentole. La posizione è strategica, nel cuore del centro storico, a due passi da tutte le attrazioni. La casa è un gioiello d'epoca, risalente al XIV secolo. Le strutture portanti sono solide, le travi di legno in vista sono un tocco di fascino, e le mura sono in pietra e mattoni, come si usava un tempo Il parcheggio gratuito è comodo e a 2/3 minuti di distanza. il panorama è mozzafiato. È stato bellissimo pranzare ammirando Pienza, e scoprire che dalla finestra della camera si vede anche la Chiesetta della Madonna di Vitaleta. Margherita è una persona fantastica, squisita, gentile e sempre disponibile. Ci ha fatto sentire come a casa, con i suoi modi di fare cordiali e accoglienti. Torneremo sicuramente a soggiornare da Margherita, perché è stato tutto perfetto. Lo consigliamo a tutti coloro che cercano un luogo dove trascorrere vacanze in pieno relax.

Casa stupenda

Siamo stati veramente benissimo. Casa con tutti i confort, cucina molto ben servita e ottima posizione. Vista spettacolare sulle colline della Val d’Orcia. Un altro punto a favore è il silenzio in questa dimora. Consigliatissima.

Casa meravigliosa e vista mozzafiato

Abbiamo soggiornato una settimana in questa splendida casetta in pieno centro. L'impressione alla vista della vallata è stata da subito impattante. La casa inoltre é provvista di tutti i confort ad eccezione della connessione wifi che non é ideale nella ricezione del segnale (ma in un posto così è meglio essere connessi con la natura) e il parcheggio un po' scomodo allo scarico bagagli. Ad ogni modo la pulizia e l'atmosfera presenti al suo interno hanno compensato questi piccoli dettagli. Torneremo sicuramente a soggiornare alla casa delle lampade. Grazie mille ragazzi. Sí, la connessione wifi è sicuramente debole, essendo frutto di accordo con la vicina perché non c'è in casa una linea telefonica fissa. Diciamo che ho fatto l'accordo perché era possibile, ma se non lo avessi potuto fare non avrei modificato nulla. Come sottolineate voi, non è nella filosofia della casa. Comunque io, e normalmente anche tutti gli ospiti con sim italiana, in casa ho linea telefonica più che accettabile con i principali operatori. Mi spiace che per voi non sia stato così. Il parcheggio è molto vicino direi 1-2 minuti max a piedi ed occorre salire una ventina di gradini per arrivare poi al portone. È però lo scotto da pagare per stare in pieno centro storico senza auto circolanti. Anche io nonostante da proprietario possa accedere per pochi minuti e solo con la mia auto per carico/scarico non lo faccio mai nemmeno quando ho dei pesi. Vi ringrazio delle belle parole della recensione che mi ha anche offerto l'opportunità di chiarire la situazione su wifi e parcheggio. Siete i benvenuti se avrete voglia di ritornare. Un saluto. Great location in a nice town.

Great apartment in a great location. You can easily visit other towns in the area such as Pienza, Montepulciano etc.The apartment has an equipped kitchen, nice bathroom and is very well decorated.

A great place to stay

This is a great apartment right in the historic centre of San Quirico. Having said that it is very quiet as the windows face away from the street. The decor has clearly been put together with a lot of thought and the apartment is very well equipped - much better than most rental apartments we have stayed in. All the towns facilities are within a few minutes walk including an excellent restaurant, the Trattoria Osenna recommended by the owner and a great bakery. We had no difficulty getting a parking place in the car park that is just a few minutes away from the apartment. San Quirico is a great place to stay for visiting the Val d'Orcia area - big enough to provide everthing you need close at hand but small enough that it is easy to get in and out of.

Una settimana da sogno!!

Abbiamo trascorso una settimana meravigliosa in Val d'Orcia. L'appartamento provvisto di ogni confort non ci ha fatto mancare nemmeno il superfluo. A fantastic place in a beautiful valley

A charming and welcoming apartment with a great view on the valley. A lot of thought has gone into its decor and there are interesting art pieces in every room. The apartment is spotless. The kitchen is well-equipped and functional; both the living area and the bedroom are cozy and comfortable. The apartment even has screens on the windows to keep flies and mosquitos out. The location, in the centre of town, is exceptional, but very quiet and only a few minutes walk to the parking lot. There are great restaurants and a well-stocked supermarket in town. San Quirico is in the heart of one of the most attractive areas of Tuscany. Pienza and Montalcino are nearby. Compared to them, San Quirico has more of a homely feel. We enjoyed our walks in the surrounding countryside. If you like nature, wine, and art, this place is for you. Elizabeth and John

FANTASTICO!

Un appartamento perfetto se si vuole visitare la splendida Val d'Orcia! Bellissimi luoghi come Pienza, Monticchiello, Montalcino, Montepulciano o Bagno Vignoni sono a brevissima distanza, raggiungibili in pochi minuti d'auto. Posizionato in pieno centro storico a San Quirico è dotato di ogni comfort, vicinissimo a negozi, ristoranti e ad un comodo parcheggio gratuito. Sarebbe bello tornarci nel periodo aprile-maggio! Il proprietario e la signora Mimma sono gentilissimi.

Un'appartamento delizioso

Un'appartamento delizioso, confortevole e fornito di tutto quello che può servire per trascorrere una bella vacanza in un contesto meraviglioso. La casa si trova nel centro storico ma a poca distanza da un comodo parcheggio. San Quirico è strategica per esplorazioni nei paesi vicini e per rilassanti passeggiate. Ci piacerebbe tanto tornare, magari in autunno...

"L’appartamento è situato...

"L’appartamento è situato in pieno centro storico, facilmente raggiungibile a piedi dal parcheggio gratuito all’ingresso del paese, salendo pochi gradini. Si trova al secondo piano (ci sono due rampe di scale da percorrere, un po’ strette) e, appena entrati, colpisce per l’arredamento curato, rustico e moderno al tempo stesso, per la pulizia impeccabile e il calore dei colori scelti, che rendono l’ambiente accogliente e piacevole. Il soggiorno, con divano, televisore, decoder Sky e altro.. è separato dalla cucina da due gradini e una tenda di stoffa; il bagno, accanto alla camera da letto, è confortevole, comodo e non manca nulla (la doccia è rilassante, dotata anche di shampoo e bagnoschiuma). Ciò che colpisce di più, oltre allo splendido panorama sulla valle circostante e sui tetti di San Quirico (abitati da due bei micioni, appartenenti alla proprietaria dell’appartamento sottostante) è la praticità e cura dei proprietari nel non far mancare davvero nulla, dagli elettrodomestici agli attrezzi da cucina, ai detersivi, zucchero, sale, olio, spezie per cucinare, the, caffè, acqua e succhi di frutta.. pc portatile, decoder Sky, lettore dvd e diversi film e cd musicali. C’è inoltre, un’approfondita guida della Toscana a disposizione. La camera da letto è un po’ piccolina, ma anch’essa accogliente e calda. Abbiamo soggiornato spesso in appartamento ma è la prima volta che ne troviamo uno così fornito di tutto. Molto gentile e preciso il proprietario, altrettanto cordiale e disponibile la signora che ci ha consegnato le chiavi al nostro arrivo. Consigliatissimo come base per visitare la Val d’Orcia con i suoi bellissimi panorami e paesi (Monticchiello, Bagno Vignoni, Pienza, Montalcino.. non distano più di mezz’ora da San Quirico). "

"L''appartamento è stato ristrutturato di recente, con ottimo gusto e delicatezza, i colori caldi e il rispetto della struttura si inseriscono nel contesto storico dell''interno mura del paese di San Quirico e sono in armonia con il gusto toscano della tradizione. I tocchi di modernità e i comfort contemporanei si inseriscono nel contesto abitativo tradizionale senza invaderlo, anzi volorizzandolo e rendendolo accogliente e al passo con le esigenze moderne. L''arredamento è di gusto e unisce arredi tradizionali e moderni in una sintesi apprezzabilissima, con elettrodomestici di ogni tipo, pc, lavatrice, tv lcd, stereo, ... l''appartamento è silenziosissimo, nella ZTL del centro storico, e dalle finestre si gode di un panorama sulle crete senesi e sul borgo alto. L''accoglienza è di una gentilezza rara, la presenza discreta ma puntuale alla necessità, la pulizia perfetta, gli oggetti d''arte e d''epoca molto gradevoli senza essere invadenti. Da tenere conto che si tratta di un secondo piano, con accesso da una sola scala, comodamente praticabile per i normodotati ma potrebbe essere piu'' difficoltoso l''accesso per i disabili. Il parcheggio è all''esterno della ZTL, a un minuto dall''edificio. Il paese geograficamente è ottimo punto di partenza per escursioni a Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Abbazia di S. Antimo, Montalcino, Castiglione d''Orcia, Radicofani, Terme di San Filippo, Montepulciano, e un numero di borghi toscani indefinibile e magici, come tutta la Val d''Orcia. L''appartamento ti culla di notte, ti accarezza al risveglio e ti accoglie con calore quando vi ritorni..."

"Una bellissima casa in un magnifico contesto. Piccola ma confortevole, la casa delle lampade è l''ideale per chi vuole godere delle bellezze della Val d''Orcia. L''appartamento, curato nel dettaglio e molto pulito, regala un bel colpo d''occhio: l''arredamento è scelto con cura, ed i toni caldi degli ambienti richiamano il paesaggio circostante. I proprietari si sono impegnati a non far mancare nulla a chi vi soggiorni: oltre ad essere forniti lenzuola ed asciugamani, sono presenti lavatrice, ventilatori, microonde, frullatore, piastra elettrica per cucinare. In salotto troneggia un televisore di grandi dimensioni, corredato da amplificatore, decoder sky e giradischi. Sono a disposizione un gran numero di dvd (la scelta è varia, e spazia da Kubrick a Sergio Leone, passando per Harry Potter ed il Meraviglioso mondo di Amélie) e qualche cd musicale (Doors, Jethro Tull, Buena Vista Social Club, ma anche Haydn, Bach, Mozart). Su di una vetrinetta vicina all''entrata, chiudono la lista un buon numero di vinili. A beautiful house in a beautiful context Small but comfortable, the ''House of Lamps'' is the ideal choice for who wants to fully enjoy his stay in Val d''Orcia. The apartment - very well-kept and clean - reminds, with his warm tones, the Tuscan landscapes. The owners had provided all sorts of extras: sheets and towels, a washing machine, a fan, a liquidizer, a microwave oven et cetera. A big television in the living room comes equipped with an amplification system, a MySky decoder and a record player. There''s a good number of dvds to choose from (Kubrick and Sergio Leone, but also the Harry Potter saga and Amélie, to name a few) and some music cd''s (Doors, Jethro Tull, Buena Vista Social Club, but also Haydn, Bach, Mozart). Finally, there are a few vinyls on a cupboard near the entrance. San Quirico is a small town with big charm and, despite the apartment being in the city center, the area is VERY quiet."
