We had a thoroughly relaxing stay at this beautiful gite. It is very spacious and well laid out and is also very well equipped. We loved sitting outside in the garden, wandering through the woodland and using the bikes to explore the area.

Many thanks for your comments and so glad that you enjoyed your stay in my property.
A very lovely, authentic, spacious, cosy and calm place that is very suitable for a family with kids. We really appreciated the nice little extra things the owner provided and we noticed the owners attention to detail. We are certainly tempted to come back!

A very comfortable stay. Main bedroom has a large double with ensuite. Third bedroom reached by further set of stairs. Very clean throughout. Didn't manage to use BBQ as weather mixed. Fantastic Pizzeria in Medrignac (approx 5miles) along with Supermarket and good butcher and other small French restaurant, Courtil. lovely friendly boulangerie in nearby Meneac. Everything is a drive as property in a very peaceful location;Josselin, Rochefort-en-terre, Vannes all reached within 30 to 60 mins.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your positive feedback
The property is beautiful and very spacious as per the photos. The location is somewhat quieter than we expected as the village of Meneac is a little less busy than we thought it might be. The property is boutique like upstairs with quality bedding, towels and finishing touches. However the downstairs we found rather more difficult to utilise as we were immediately hit by a damp/musty smell on entering the property which sadly did not dissipate, despite us leaving doors open. Being fortunate with the weather we were able to eat and sit outside and then use the upstairs for bed time. Appreciate it is an old property. Can recommend this as a beautiful place to stay if you are looking for a relaxing and switch off style break.
We loved our 10 days here - August 2022. A beautiful, old, large house which is very comfortable. Lovely beds and showers, well-stocked kitchen with all you could ever need. Added bonus was the use of bikes (including an electric one - which 17 year old enjoyed) - ideal for the morning run to pick up bread. Lovely countryside all around, about 45 mins to the north coast and several interesting towns around 30 mins away. Loved the house and hope to be back in this part of Britany again soon.

I am so glad that you had an enjoyable stay in the house and got to experience some of what Brittany has to offer. I have bought another electric bike to make it easier to enjoy the surrounding area.
The property is perfect. A real treat. Home from home. Large open rooms full of both traditional and modern touches. Quality fittings and fixtures. This property offers everything and more. Beautiful large gardens in a peaceful location. Electric bikes are provided and its just a mile to the village of Meneac. I totally recommend this property. The owner Sarah Jayne is the perfect host.

Thanks so much for your positive feedback and so glad that you enjoyed your stay over Christmas at Les Chataigniers!
Best wishes

The house is enormous, has all the mod cons you would need. 3 big bedrooms and great beds. Visiting the tourist locations in the north and the south of Bretagne takes some driving effort but we knew that when booking. ( you will need to drive a minimum of 45 minutes either way to reach your destinations ). unfortunately for us the weather was terrible so we were nog able to enjoy the amazing exteriour. Would highly recommend this place

I am so glad that you enjoyed the property however sorry that you did not experience good weather .
The second time here after 5 years but only for three nights. I was amazed how quiet it is no white noise. The weather was awful so didn't need the barbie but did use both wood fires and even cooked on the one in the kitchen. Lots of wildlife even saw squirrels from the lounge. Nice clean and tidy. Hopefully back soon. #loveit

Second time staying here and certainly won't be the last. The property is perfect in every way. Plenty of space, immaculately kept. Everything and more than you need to be comfortable. Wonderful gardens, BBQ. Quality furniture and fixtures and fittings. Very good quality towels and bedding. TV, Sky channels and DVDs in property. Good speed WiFi. 2 bars in village, one serving pizza and a small shop/bakery. Restaurant too. Plenty of areas to visit nearby.

Beautiful & relaxing, a true wow factor holiday
The whole family is missing Brittany already. Wish we could have stayed longer!
We have had a lovely time staying near Ménéac, chilling out and relaxing in the countryside after our stay in Paris. Discovering each part of the Longere was one “oh wow” moment after another! It is such a pretty property and a beautiful location. Very well equipped, clean and spacious rooms. Our girls loved the Longere and were very happy staying in as much as enjoying the local delights around Brittany. Great quiet roads for our local cycle rides. We loved the organic products you use and the local farm recommendation. A great holiday for us all. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your comments. I am so glad that your family had such an enjoyable stay in the property. I aim to make it a home away from home and very much appreciate the feedback.
Kind regards
Damp was the first thing you could smell when you opened the door. There was a dehumidifier in the living room that was full and had cut out. There was damp/mould in all the downstairs rooms. The Gite manager admitted this was an ongoing problem. The place itself was filthy, the dining room table was sticky, there was mould in the cooker and every corner and crevice had not seen a cloth in a longtime. VRBO Did not help us and don’t deem damp as a health issue and are still not helping us. We had to book alternative accommodation ourselves which they said they would reimburse us for, the email we have to reply to is not monitored anymore. The guestbook has pages ripped out take from that what you want. All in all the property was a major disappointment. VRBO Threatened that if we left the property no further help would be offered. We had to send photo evidence to prove the state of things. We sent the evidence and they accepted the issues. Then the next day they said it wasn’t enough. I told them I had video footage and could send it to them. They said no. VRBO BWC GUARANTEE ISNT WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITTEN ON. Sarah Jayne, thanks for ruining our holiday.

It is extremely disappointing to have received such a review which is contrary to all guests experience who have actually stayed in the property and enjoyed the peaceful charm of the farmhouse. I dispute all these issues. The guest did not stay at the property and received a full refund on change of their plans. Furthermore when the property manager tried to call to discuss their issues, they never responded.
The house is really great. It is very clean, with very nice decoration and enough place for more people. You can find in the kitchen everything you need. The surrounding area is the best if you want to recover and want to have silence. You hear nothing around, we enjoyed this very much. Of course the next supermarket and restaurants are a little bit far away, but this should not be a problem, a bakery and butcher with a small market is in Meneac. Thanks to Sarah for the uncomplicated and reliable procedure before our journey, and for the hints we found in your booklet.
Best regards from Germany

Nice and comfortable house with excellent facilities. Perfect place for the fans of tranquillity. There are 4 bikes which are really useful if you like to discover the surroundings. We spent 9 unforgettable days here and shall definitely return soon.

I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay and the cycling is definitely a good way to explore the surrounding area.
Thank you for your comments .
The property is perfect. It is a true home from home. Everything is of a very high quality. Beautiful gardens. Perfect location, I felt so relaxed when the holiday was over. I will certainly be back.
Bedding and towels are of a high quality. Fixtures and fittings were excellent. Whatever we needed was at the property.
Great BBQ, loungers and garden furniture were great.

About the host
Your host
I have my late father to thank for introducing me and my sister to the French lifestyle and we enjoyed many family holidays in France and have continued to travel to France annually enjoying the relaxed lifestyle and slower pace of life, which makes a welcome change to my daily working life which can be very frantic!
I finally purchased my property in 2016, and am happy to share this lovely house with like-minded individuals who enjoy the laid back rural French life.
Why they chose this property
The Morbihan has always appealed to me, due to the contrast of lovely countryside, quaint villages and fantastic coastline, added to which the area is full of history and culture and is ideal for cycling and walking. Added to which it is only a short 1 hour 15 minute drive from the port of Saint Malo, or from the airport at Dinard or Rennes
The property offered everything I was looking for, full of character, however with all the modern comforts, which I hope future guests will appreciate.
What makes this property unique
Relaxing on the back terrace, listening to the birds and feeling the sense of peace, whilst enjoying a glass of local wine or cider is very special and certainly is an excellent way to re-charge the batteries! Added to which I can escape for a long weekend due to the ease of access and it really is my home away from home!!
