We had a great stay. Enjoyed very much the calm of Trelash and the Cottage itself. Everything was amazingly thought about.

Welcome to my lovingly renovated, 18th Century cottage; I am hoping I will be able to share my home with you. It is a cottage I have known all my life. I grew up on our family farm in Trelash, just a stone's throw away, and my family still live in the hamlet today. Unfortunately, as a teenager employment was difficult to come by so I had to leave North Cornwall behind. During many years working within the medical, marketing and insurance sectors in London and Bristol I was fortunate to be able to find time to travel extensively, but nowhere ever captured my heart as much as my beloved North Cornwall. Now, semi-retired, I live in mid Devon, just one-hour's drive from The Cottage and my family. Choosing to share my cottage with you has given me plenty to keep me occupied when I am not busy gardening or walking with my friends, my partner and our beautiful Hungarian Vizsla, Rubi.

Why they chose this property

Since The Cottage was renovated and equipped as my future home, it has everything I think you could possibly require to make your stay at The Cottage a truly home-from-home experience, with a good dose of luxury features scattered throughout. The Cottage certainly has a tale to tell.

Having moved away from Trelash many years ago to seek employment, I started a search in 2009 for a cottage I could call my own; somewhere I could retreat to with family close by. In 2009 I was delighted when the charming little cottage I had so loved during my childhood days, came on the market, however it was a delight short-lived when I realised the extent of the renovations required. It was the start of a four year love-hate relationship, requiring an enormous amount hard work and determination to see it through.
In the past, the cottage has been home to at least five generations of the Fry family, including a reverend. In the late 1800s the cottage served as a public house providing beverage to the local railway workers during the construction of the Launceston to Camelford railway, a 16 mile section of the North Cornwall line. One of those workers would have been my Grandfather, Granfer Bolt.
Today, I absolutely adore everything about my beautiful cottage. The renovations gave me scope to add my character to, and enhance the quirky features of the original building. I had fun sourcing interesting furniture and antiques at auction; up-cycling some and cherishing others. A selection of photoart from my portfolio brings the walls alive and little touches like creating bespoke light fittings and designing a unique staircase combine to make the cottage a comfortable and interesting home to live in; a home that I can now delight in sharing with you.

I truly hope you enjoy your stay at the cottage and relish in exploring the beauty and intrigue that North Cornwall has to offer.
Happy holidays!

What makes this property unique

The Cottage is over 300-years old and although totally refurbished to a very high standard, it retains many of the original features and quirkiness that stole my heart and which I hope will steal yours too.

The Cottage is located the sleepy Cornish hamlet of Trelash, placed aside its privately owned village green, with lawn on three sides and still plenty of room to park your vehicle. The cottage is decorated and furnished in a rustic country chic style with walls adorned by my own personal photo-art and images. Even with its stylish (large) kitchen/diner and spacious sitting room with a roaring wood burner, The Cottage is a perfect cosy-up winter retreat as well as a light and airy summer bolthole.

The Cottage is ideally placed for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer, only 60mins drive to both Truro and Plymouth and being only 10mins from the A30 Devon is also within easy reach. With such an abundance of places to visit, things to do and places to dine, from a pub meal to a Michelin 2star restaurant and with forestry walks only 5 mins away and coastal walks and beaches close by it is a great place to bring your children and dogs.
