Macaulay Cottage is a traditional 4 bedroom stone built house set in the beautiful surroundings of the Golden Road in the village of Grosebay.
Fully furnished 2 storey house sleeping up to 7 people. Lower floor features dining room, sitting room, kitchen, one twin bedroom, one single bedroom and toilet with shower. Upper floor features 2 double bedrooms and bathroom with shower. Electric heating in most of the rooms.
Dogs are welcome at Macaulay cottage.
Only 2 minutes from the sea where otters and seals can be seen playing. Wildlife enthusiasts may be interested in eagle sightings in the area. Ideal base for hillwalking, fishing, golf or just a peaceful and relaxing holiday. A 20 minute drive from the famous sandy beaches of Harris. Local attractions include Harris Tweed, distillery, art galleries and trips to St Kilda.

Very nice and comfy house with all amenities. In lovely situation quiet but still handy for great beaches and Tarbet. Also very dog friendly.

Great stay in a wonderful house

A great house in a beautiful and quiet area at the Golden Road. It had everything you need to feel at home. Especially the kitchen is well equiped and the beds are very confy. As we stayed there with two couplés, the two bathrooms were a real bonus.

Great cottage, great location.

We loved Macaulay cottage - it’s in a great location for visiting the many wonderful beaches and bays on Harris. The cottage has everything you need and the owners are really helpful. It was a great place to return to after a day out. Some of the well known walks (Scholars path and coffin trail) start from the cottage or nearby. We enjoyed kayaking with seals in the the bay by the cottage.

What a brilliant cottage

This property has everything you will need for your stay on Harris, exceptionally well presented and equipped. The owners have done everything to ensure that aĺ needs are catered for. The location whilst being remote is extremely peaceful and within easy reach of Tarbert for supplies and the ferry.
The sun does not always shine on the Isles but this cottage is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

Peaceful and comfortable

Hebridean summer!!

Excellent accommodation with beautiful views from the cottage. It was immaculately clean with everything we needed. The beaches on Harris were amazing especially Luskentyre. We were so lucky with the weather as well so couldn’t fault the holiday at all.

A great house, brilliant location, very quiet and well equipped, everything you needed for a wonderful holiday. Lovely quiet cottage

The cottage was spotless. we arrived to find a bottle of wine and fresh eggs waiting for us. We were made very welcome by Maree's parents on her behalf. The location was ideal for us to locate our days out walking on and among the hills. We hope to stay again

Lovely host family who were most helpful to us. Large, comfortable and well furnished house with a well equipped kitchen. Good views over Grosebay and surrounding landscape. Excellent wifi and TV reception. This is an excellent base from which to explore south and north Harris. Only a short distance from shops, restaurants and petrol.

Christmas at the cottage

We looked forward to Christmas in Grosebay for almost 12 months and we were not disappointed. The hosts were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble when we asked questions in advance of our stay. The photos of the property really do not do the justice the cottage deserves. Its spotless, spacious and extremely well equipped. The location was perfect, close enough to visit everything we wanted to. We definitely intend to visit again in the warmer months but we had a christmas to remember forever.
