The guest house was super cute and a joy to stay in during my work trip. I loved being able to come home at night and read a book from the little collection in the living room or to cook myself an actual dinner (instead of a sad microwave dinner in a hotel). Would definitely stay here again!
We loved our stay, with plenty of space, but a homey/cozy feel, with plenty of character in an old but well loved and clean home - with easy access to stores/shops/coffee/groceriesThank you

Wonderful house for large groups! Plenty of room and everything you need for cooking and preparing food. Great porch for relaxing!
All spaces and equipment for a pleasant and comfortable stay. Loved the porch swing, garden and fire pit, and lovely living room, upstairs family room.
The house is great - built in 1889, but has all the conveniences one would want in a vacation rental. It was cozy and comfortable. Although it has a 4 bedrooms, there are only 2 bathrooms, so it works well for 2 families. The host has thought of all the amenities to make your stay relaxing and welcoming.
Enjoyed our stay very much. Wonderful old house. Modernized kitchen. Great hosts, very friendly and accomodating.
Thanks, Jannet and Dave

Thank you Prairie City! Comfortable, well-equipped, and location location location!
We spent the All-American Total Solar Eclipse weekend at the Prairie Rose, and we were SO incredibly lucky to do so. Our stay was centered around the once-in-a-lifetime event, which exceeded expectations. As did the house! It is roomy yet cozy, with a well-equipped kitchen full of great tools to cook--we didn't eat out once (except at the special beer garden, staged by our hosts in town), and wanted for nothing. There were eight of us in our party, and there was plenty of space for everyone to sprawl out, especially on the beautiful wrap-around porch with brand new porch swing. We had many a cup of coffee and happy hour out there. Wifi was easy to connect to and fast. Lots of other common spaces to share for meals and general hanging out, inside and outdoors. Beds were clean and comfortable, in themed bedrooms thoughtfully decorated. The house is close to town (a block or so), so that we could watch all the goings on, and feel like part of the neighborhood. Everyone we met in Prairie City was warm and friendly, and excited for the eclipse. Hostess Jannet and her family were wonderfully hospitable and responsive, and it was amazing to be here for this singular event. All eight of us had a memorable stay, and we couldn't recommend this home more enthusiastically. Thank you, Jannet, and thank you, Prairie City!

Barbara & Crew,
So glad you found the Guesthouse to be everything you needed. It was great to meet you and Jerry and visit with you. I'm also glad you won the eclipse stay 'lottery' for the Guesthouse. Thank you for leaving everything so neat & tidy as well. Jannet
I was very pleasantly surprised . I loved the decor and all the books. I was unfortunate to accidently break a beautiful picture in the bathroom, I felt so bad about it, I instantly called and let them know what happened, told them I would be more than happy to pay for it. Was so suprised was told not to worry about it. I love this place and would deffinatly recomend it to anyone who looks into i.
The Prairie Rose exceeded our expectations. The wonderful 1887 historic house had modern kitchen and bathrooms plus air conditioning. It was perfectly located for our activities of visiting the John Day Monuments and exploring the area. We loved our stay!
We had a wonderful time at the Prairie Rose! It’s a great place to hang out with dear friends!

My review
The house is large and has all the amenities but it wasn’t as clean as should be expected. I wasn’t crazy about having to change the sheets because I feel like I am depending on the prior renters to change their sheets as well so it was a little weird for me. But all in all it was a good trip and and it was comfortable.
There was lots of space for us to spread out and this home was very well stocked. The owner was very communicative and even told us about a fireworks display happening while we were there. We had a great time!
This was the second time our family has stayed in the Prairie Rose. It’s a beautiful, historic 19th century home, well equipped and organized. Jannet and her husband have owned the property for 27 years, and they obviously have put a lot of love and work into maintaining it. They are both very gracious and great communicators.
Large, clean house with plenty of living and dinning space, as well as various bedroom options. The kitchen is fully stocked with baking and cookware if you wish to prepare your own food. A full-sized fridge with freezer is also available. Our family of eight had a very refreshing stay on our travels across Oregon.
This house was amazing. We loved the old fashioned charm and attention to detail with the decor. It's also very close to the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, which is what we came to explore. We'd love to return soon!
We are three friends of over 50 years who get together annually. The Prairie Rose fit our needs very nicely. Jannet has done a wonderful job decorating the house and providing lots of thoughtful touches that made us feel at home.🏡 Highly recommend!
