"Michael" is Amazing Apartment on the Sea !!!

Made, pronounced "Mathvay" is a tiny village by the sea, about twenty kilometres from the centre of Heraklion. A few notable people live here year round, most keep summer homes.
Swimming is good here - the bay is partly protected from the open sea. At the end of the beach bar scuba diving, jet-skis and other water sports are offered.
Relax and sunbathe, paint, write and enjoy the beach bar!
Made is one of those hidden places, generally quieter than beach areas close to Heraklion, but with the facilities (if you include Lygaria and Agia Pelagia) that make spending days here a pleasure. You can rent a car (recommended) and explore from a pleasing base camp.
The beach is kept clean and free of debris during the April-October season.

Relaxing stay by the ocean

Wonderful apartment overlooking a small, clear water, wonderful beach. The hostess Vivi is absolutely charming. Car is best to have, there are several restraunts and a Mini-mart not to far away.

quiet and comfortable

Lovely peaceful bay. Apartment spotless and everything you need. Bed was rather extra firm for me though. Vivi was a gracious host. Thank you for stocking the basics! Much appreciated. We arrived in the dark- Vasilis had said he would meet us at the "top of the road"-he was not there. Also said he was available by phone- his line was busy for 45 minutes and we could not get thru. DO NOTarrive in the dark! Other than the "miscommunication" everything was perfect.

Wonderful place to stay!

My husband and I recently (April) stayed at this great 1 bedroom apartment in Made beach. We arrived very late, but Vivi was there waiting for us. She had even kindly left us coffee, fruit, juice, water and sandwich makings for the next day. Vasilis her son is the contact person for the booking because his mother doesn't speak a lot of English, but she is very sweet. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed hiking up and down the hills surrounding the area. There is a large resort on the opposite side of the beach and we walked up there for some amazing views. The apartment itself was extremely clean and cutely decorated. It was obvious that the owner took pride in her apartment that she rents. We came right before the tourist season starts in full swing so the beach and the area was pretty quiet. I would imagine that during the summer months there will be many more people there. In the evenings we could sit on the balcony and enjoy the view of the beach and the beautiful blue green water! I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a beach-side vacation on the beautiful island of Crete!

lovely vivi

We arrived really late due to flight delay and hired a car with caravel local rental, we were really glad things were still open at 1.30 am so we didn't arrive until 2am and the lovely Vivi was waiting for us, she was kind and the flat was clean and inviting and had everything we needed for our stay, with a lovely sea breeze on the balcony, we spent many evenings hypnotised by the sound of the waves sitting on the balcony after swimming on the nearby beach a few metres away or at the Agia pelagia or lygaria beach which had some nice restaurants...our favourite one was Sirocco in Lygaria. Vasilis and his mother Vivi are really generous people and treated us like special guests, we were so happy to find this place so near the beach with a dreamy view of the sea..and the promise of king Minos to Zeus runs deep with all cretans, this was the promise of hospitality to all visitors that King Minos vowed to uphold and in my experience, Crete delivers on this promise. We also drove to the east of the island to Istron and beyond where we were also met with wonderful food and hospitality. We had a great time and will definitely plan to go back next year, The Cretans are wonderful people and Crete is very special to us because of this warm and wonderful experience.

Gorgeous view

The balcony overlooking the beach was our favorite part. We really enjoyed sitting there while eating or just relaxing in between laying on the beach. The host was very helpful with communication and supplying the vrbo.

Tolle Wohnung in ruhiger Lage

wir wurden sehr freundlich und unkompliziert empfangen. Die Wohnung ist sauber und mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Sehr nett fanden wir auch das Willkommenspaket im Kühlschrank vom Vermieter:) Die Ferienwohnung direkt in einer kleinen ,gemütlichen Bucht in15 min. Entfernung von Iraclio, ist sehr gut geeignet für Ruhesuchende und um Ausflüge mit Mietwagen zu unternehmen. Das Frühstück auf dem Balkon mit direktem Meerblick und die Abendruhe in einer schönen, ,ruhigen Bucht mit den Füßen im Sand und nur Meeresrauchen im Ohr haben wir sehr genossen.

The apartment has a very nice location right on the sea. The decor is lovingly designed and functional. A disturbing little thing is the shower curtain of the shower. The landlady is very helpful, friendly and accommodating. She cooked even for us Cretan. The apartment is recommended for a stay in Crete. We felt very comfortable. 19.09.2019 Family Tieding

ALMOST PERFECT

The place is nice and the ambiance . It is a nice location. The owner is very accommodating. Only the wi fi connection were among the problem and the shower room. Better isf they will put some glass or whatever to prevent water spreading on the floor. And a bigger size for more convenience. But that was an awesome Vacation !

Sensation beach and apartment

The beach is One of the nicest places in Crete near to Herlion .Just 50 meters to the apartment. There apartment was spotless and has all the amenities needed for a stay The owner Vivi is next door and always happy to assist with ideas and localities information. The bedroom ioY Air conditioned but the whole ll unit gets lovely sea breezes. You need car to. get to the many local tavernas. Mades Beachiis very tough to find , particularly if you arrive at night so do your homework before you go Tip: head for Ligaria Beach between Hereklion and Rethymno. And Mades beach is next door to it .

La casa é bellissima, proprio come descritto in riva al mare con balconi che si affacciano direttamente in laguna, é tutto pulito e in ordine. La mamma del proprietario il primo giorno é arrivata 5 minuti in ritardo perché ci aveva fatto la spesa, GENTILISSIMA. splendida vacanza e splendida casa

Lovely apartment

The apartment was very clean and the landlord had thought of everything. Vasilis’s mother met us and was so lovely. They even stocked the essentials for us. The location is very quiet and peaceful and the beach was very clean. A car is an essential as the you have to travel for shop and restaurants/bars etc. I would also like to add that if you struggle with walking, this place is very steep. There is a hotel at the top of the hill which has a minibus that picks you up from the beach at regular intervals. I was told you can have a meal and drink for £15 there. We travelled 10 mins to the next bay where there was some lovely restaurants and bars. If your looking for a tranquil, beautiful bay then this is it. Vasilis even let us stay in the apartment until late as our flight wasn’t till 11pm. Really enjoyed our stay here, maybe a little too quiet for us but I would still highly recommend if you need a good rest away from it all

Great Getaway

This flat is situated at the end of a steep hill beside a secluded beach and has all the amenities for a couple to escape from the hustle and bustle. Vivi met us and ensured we had all we needed to start our relaxing. As with most of Crete, a car is a must and allows you to explore the area thoroughly. Keep it small. Small well stocked supermarkets can be found in nearby villages. Satnav is a must for finding your way around. We”d stay here again.

A beautiful place to spend your holidays

We were very satisfied with the appartment. It was directly at the beach and from the balkony you could see the bay. Everything was clean and for two people it was absolutely big enough. Vivi and Vasilis were very kind. They were always there when we needed help. Vivi even waited for us to arrive, even though we came very late at night and she even brought us something for breakfast for the first day. In the appartment there were towels and beach mats we could use and a bunch of other things. All in all we were very happy that we chose this appartment. We'd love to go on vacation there again one day!

Amazing property close to Heraklion

We were so happy to have found this amazing place to stay. It is right beside Made Beach. It was difficult for us to find though as there was no real street address, but to make it easy you just google Made beach and head all the way to the beach and it's the last condominium building on the left. Rent a small car to navigate the roads which are basically very narrow as in the case in most of Greece on the side roads. This condo is well appointed, clean and best of all a 1 minute walk to the beach. It is only a short drive to most sites, 1/2 hour to airport, less than 1/2 hour to Knossos Palace and less than that to the Venetian Port as it is close to a major highway. It's very much as others say, a hidden gem and very inexpensive for what you are getting. I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone wanting to go to Heraklion.

Basic but good value accommodation in a charming spot

We enjoyed our stay at the Mades apartment. The little bay is beautiful and we were met and made very welcome with a basket of local food items. A car was essential to get to shops and restaurants although we can recommend getting the bus to Heraklion. Going out of season meant many of the tavernas were not open but all the main archaeological sites, (Knossos, Phaistos, Gortyn) were. The Islanders are very friendly and breakfast on the balcony in the sun at the end of March was wonderful.

Clean,lovely family. What’s not to like

This was a lovely apartment for 2/3 people. It was clean, in a lovely village with a really lovely family who we were very fortunate to spend time with. The beach was blue flagged but the supermarkets were hard to find. (Vasilis maybe draw a map?). Need a car if want to leave the beach and/ or eat. Would firmly recommend this accommodation if you want to get away from it all. We did. Thank You to the Vivi family. Xxxx

straordinaria vacanza

è stata una meravigliosa vacanza sopratutto grazie a Vasilis e la sua gentilissima mamma. l'appartamento si trova davanti alla spiaggia di Made, un'incantevole spiaggettina nella costa nord di creta a 20 minuti dall'aeroporto di Eraclion. l'appartamento è un piccolo gioellino nuovissimo, pulitissimo e molto bene attrezzato. Aria condizionata e un ottimo balconcino per colazione e aperitivi con vista mozzafiato. Vi consigliamo di affittare una macchina in quanto Creta è un'isola meravigliosa che vale la pena di scoprire il più possibile. consiglieremo questo appartamento ai nostri amici e parenti e speriamo di poterci tornare prestissimo!!

Hidden gem

This house was excellent and perfect for two people. It was well equipped with everything you need. The view and local beach were stunning and it is away from the crowds . We did have a car which made it easier I think than relying on public transport. Basilis was really easy to deal with and responded promptly at all times, and the lady who met us , who we saw again several more times was very friendly and helpful. The house was extremely clean and we had fresh linen after three days. I can highly recommend it as a delightful and good value place for a very relaxed holiday.
