We were a party of ten adults traveling to the area for hiking and fishing activities. This was an excellent property far from the city life. Lots of deer and other wildlife. Easy access to Groundhog Lake for fishing and extensive hiking opportunities. We enjoyed our stay!
It's absolutely beautiful place to stay, we had 19 people in this house. And it fit us well. The only thing I can say is the beds are not comfortable. I would highly recommend this place.
Other than getting lost (my fault) this was an amazing trip. Property was gorgeous, clean and well prepared for our arrival. Becky and Ebony were awesome with communication and helpfulness. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a true getaway from the city hustle and bustle and just escape to enjoy some peace! Views are breathtaking along the way. Thanks again for the opportunity to enjoy your property and hospitality! 10 out of 10 !
This property is substantially better than it shows in the listing. It is a beautiful area and the cabin exceeded our expectations. It would get a full 5 star except the lack of internet and phone service. The host was working hard to try and get our Internet going, but not able to until the night before we left. The cabin is roomy and everyone had their own bedrooms with extended family and stocked with what you needed. It is located further than we understood from Delores, and we had several activities in Durango so a pretty long commute each day. However, the drive was beautiful and a lot of wild animals to look for along the route which made it really fun for all the kids and adults. On the property there are other cabins and camping spots, one occupied camp spot was a little closer than we would like, but it worked out fine because we were gone during the day most days. Beds were comfortable, it was exciting and a little scary to have bears on the property! Definitely cautious when we went outdoors at night. In summary, I highly recommend the laughing coyote lodge, just be aware of the distance from town.
50 members from Grandma and pa to 4 mo old great grandson and 2 month old grandson and every age in between had a wonderful time . Everything was perfect.
The pictures do NOT do this place justice. The setting is majestic - the view of Lone Cone from the front porch, the groves of aspen whispering in the wind on all sides, the multitudes of deer, the myriad of wildflowers in every direction...and that's just outside! The house is perfectly set up to accommodate large groups with ease - plenty of space, beds, bathrooms and amenities. Our group was 3 families with a combined 16 children, and there was even a bed left over! Becky & Tonya have considered everything - down to the laundry detergent, bedding, toys, books, pantry basics (and then some!) plus a welcoming bottle of Colorado wine... The long drive getting there merely assured that we would savor the solitude and beauty of nature. We built log cabins in the aspen groves, traipsed through mountain creeks, played "Dirty Toes" (aka Horseshoes) as long as the sun was visible, ate S'mores at night, gawked at the night sky and searched for shooting stars. It was absolutely perfect in every regard. Thank you, Becky & Tonya, for everything!
We had a great week at the lodge. We had two large families and there was plenty of room for all.
Sunsets and view were perfect!

Reunion at Laughing Coyote
The Laughing Coyote was the perfect size for our group of 20. The house layout worked great since we had 4 families that each got their own wing of the house. The house was clean, well stocked, and had several areas for different groups to sit. Becky was amazing at answering all my questions before we arrived. The listing suggested this home was very remote and that we would hardly notice the others staying on the property. That was not the case. Because the house is located at the front of the property, there was almost constant traffic right next to the house with all the other renters coming and going. I also wish we would have been informed that the home was on a well and that we should bring extra water (the provided water ran out quickly with 20 people). I'd suggest updating the listing on VBRO to reflect the actual number of rooms (the listing says only 4), to remove the paragraph that talks about there being no maid service and that renters have to clean before they leave, and to suggest renters bring bottled water. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay.
The property exceeded all expectations! The setting was stunning, the cabin was perfect for our big group, and was well equipped with everything we needed!
We had such a good time. There was 33 of us from 10mo to 77. Everything was as I expected. Kevin and Paulette were there to greet us and show us around. Everyone commented on how clean everything was. I would recommend this Lodge to anyone and I have done so. Wonderful experience.
