HYDRANGEA HILL - [2027 WINTER SPECIAL RATES: January-April; 7+ nights; $185/night; 32+ nights - $140/ night.Scheduled prices will be reduced prior to confirmed reservation.] It doesn't get much better than this for style and proximity. Hydrangea Hill (circa, 1898) is located on a quiet street less than a half-mile walking distance to downtown Lenox, and only two miles to Tanglewood's main entrance. The yard offers a garden atmosphere with a lightly wooded wetland area on the back and side. You'll recognize it immediately by the white picket fence curving around the front as the brick walkway leads you to the front door. The house features three bedrooms, each with quality linens and mattresses; one with twin beds, one with a queen bed, and a master suite with a king bed. You'll love the master bathroom, which features a Carrara marble top, double vanity, and large walk-in glass and tile shower with a spa bench. Without a doubt, the best feature in the house is the large open living space and fully equipped modern kitchen with all you need for a family gathering or for cooking an intimate gourmet meal. The farmhouse style table is 10 feet long and easily seats ten-twelve individuals. For movies at home or sports followers, you'll love the Samsung 65” Crystal Ultra High Definition TV and of course, WiFi throughout the house. On chilly winter nights, get cozy in front of an electric fireplace that offers both heat and ambiance. Other amenities include, a guest bath upstairs near bedrooms, a half bath on the main floor with laundry facilities, and an enlarged paved patio with (weather permitting) comfortable wicker outdoor seating, propane fire pit, and propane grill. You'll love the Berkshires and all that Hydrangea Hill has to offer. If Hydrangea Hill had a motto, it would be "Veni, Relaxant, Fruere", Latin for "Come, Relax, Enjoy" ** Located nearby, The Mount, the historic home of author Edith Wharton, was mentioned in USA Today’s Ten Best Readers’ Choice travel awards for holiday historic home tours!
I invite you to immerse yourself in a Berkshire winter wonderland like no other. Picture cozy nights inside with an electric fireplace, outside snow-covered trails perfect for skiing, and the enchanting glow of holiday lights against the crisp night air. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or prefer a more tranquil winter experience, Lenox has it all. About the host
Hosted by Alan G Billingsley
For nearly twenty-five years I worked for the State Legislature (Assembly) in Albany, NY. Every chance I had I would visit the beautiful Berkshires and participate in all the area had to offer. After moving to Florida twenty years ago, and spending portions of each summer in the Berkshires, my wife and I agreed how lovely it would be to own a home there and both use it ourselves and share it with people who also loved the area.
Why they chose this property
My wife spent a week in April 2013 looking at every house for sale in the area, and after seeing Hydrangea Hill, knew this was the house she wanted. Most of the end of that year and a good portion of 2014 was spent transforming the house into the home she envisioned. Hydrangea Hill was born. Unfortunately due to a catastrophic illness, she passed away not actually getting to spend a summer and fall in the house, but she did see it completed and for a brief period, participated in very happy gatherings of friends and family at the house. I want to fulfill her wish to share our good fortune by offering the premises to individuals, couples and families where they could feel like our guests, not renters. If I had a motto for Hydrangea Hill, it would be...”Come, Relax, Enjoy!” P.S. All the animal pictures downstairs and bird pictures in one of the guest bedrooms, were taken by my wife while on an African safari in 2008.
What makes this property unique
Travel & Leisure magazine featured 21 best places in the country to see fall foliage. Coming in at #9 is Lenox. Yankee Magazine's article, "15 Prettiest Winter Villages in New England" begins with Lenox. "Set in the bucolic Berkshire hills, this walking village is renowned for it's architecturally-diverse churches, farm-to-table restaurants, and high-end boutiques selling art, antiques, clothing, jewelry, and crafts." Hydrangea Hill is a short walking distance to downtown Lenox;, five minute car ride to Tanglewood Music Festival and Shakespeare & Company; easily accessible to Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, Berkshire Bach Society, Berkshire Theater Group, Mac-Haydn Theater, Mass MoCA, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Arrowhead, the home of Herman Melville, Chesterwood, home of sculpture artist Daniel Chester French, Norman Rockwell Museum, The Mount, home to Edith Wharton, poet William Cullen Bryant's Homestead, the Berkshire Botanical Garden, The Clark Art Institute, Susan B Anthony Birthplace Museum, and the annual Norman Rockwell Festival in Stockbridge and tree lighting ceremony in Lenox the first weekend of every December .
