About this property

Two bedroom cottage, sleeps 4, light and modern decor - Gym & Pool free- no pets

Sleeping four people in two bedrooms, one double and one twin, you will find all the home comforts you need to make your holiday extra special. Situated on the holiday resort The Bay, with inclusive leisure centre pass, local pub serving food and direct beach access, the cottage offers all you need, whether you want to explore the Yorkshire coast or just enjoy a relaxing holiday any time of the year. Free parking spaces available around the property.

On entry to the cottage you will find in the hall with a place to store you coats and shoes and a down stairs toilet. The open plan living area has a TV/DVD, a selection of DVDs, board games and unlimited WIFI, leading to the dining area which looks out onto the patio with outdoor table and chairs, there are boules courts around the site that can be used anytime (boules available in the cottage). The kitchen comes with all the equipment you need to cook a Sunday roast, washing machine, microwave and dishwasher. We also provide an iron and ironing board.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a double with a walk in wardrobe and a twin with a small wardrobe. Both bedrooms have a TV/DVD and a hairdryer is also provided. In the bathroom there is a full size bath with a rainfall shower. Beds will be made for your arrival and towels provided.

Unfortunately at Ridgeway Cottage we do not allow pets.

On the site there is a pharmacy and The Jon Paul Jones Pub. The leisure centre has a swimming pool with sauna and a gym both of which can be used free of charge when staying in the property (pass provided), there are also a selection of payable activities on offer through the leisure centre.

The beach of Filey bay is accessible from the site, just a 10 minute walk away from the cottage you will find views of Filey to the left and Bempton Cliffs to the right. At low tide you can walk along the beach to Filey in about 30 to 40 minutes.

If you have not visited Filey before Filey is a small, unspoilt fishing town with a wide appeal and situated in a delightful part of the Yorkshire coast. The town is steeped in history and has earned its living from the sea for centuries. It has a wide range of bars (14 at the last count) and restaurants (booking advisable) as well as several miles of beautiful beach.

The complex is ideally situated for exploring the North Yorkshire coast and surrounding areas, with Bridlington, Scarborough and RSPB at Bempton Cliffs just a 15 minute drive away.

What a Gem!

Absolutely fabulous stay in this gorgeous house. Beautifully decorated and filled with everything you could need. The site has so much to do (the pool a particular favourite) and the beach is just spectacular. Would definitely recommend and we'll be booking in again.

My husband and I booked this immaculate beautiful cottage for a long weekend break with 2 boisterous grandchildren aged 4 and 7. We were impressed with our surroundings and the amenities. Lovely Swimming pool , and splash pool for the younger children. We had 2 great nights and meals on site and the magician went down a storm. The beach is extra special. Ridgeway Cottage has been tastefully furnished and equipped. The owners have provided all sorts of little extras that make such a difference. Maxine kept us fully informed on everything we needed to know. The duvets, sheets and towels are good quality, lots of crockery, glassware and cooking items, the lamps and decor details are tasteful and carefully chosen. The holiday site was quiet, even though it was very busy as it was half term, and just what we needed. Staff polite and friendly. The short break we enjoyed was too short, and did not want to leave... we will be back. I highly recommend Ridgeway Cottage and The Bay ~Filey.

Lovely Cottage

One negative, but very much a personal thing. The lodges immediately behind the cottage would have felt a little close for my comfort if they had been in use during our stay. This would not worry most people I suspect. The cottage itself is new build, tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable and very well equipped. It was a very pleasant base for our short break. The Bay holiday village in which it stands is pretty and has the feel of a quiet rural village. The owners communications are prompt, courteous and very considerate. I visited the leisure facilities and my wife and I used the pub, both of which are a short stroll from the cottage. Both were well run establishments with pleasant and helpful staff.

We had the best time staying at Maxines cottage in Filey. The house was even better than the photos and had everything you needed for a holiday. The communication and check in process was smooth and very organised and the facilities at the bay are fab. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful cottage, perfect break away

We had a fantastic stay in Filey. A beautiful cottage with everything we needed. So clean and comfortable, like home from home. Maxine was an excellent host, great communication and so flexible with our situation. We enjoyed evening walks down to the beach and trips to Scarborough and Whitby. Maxine has thought of everything from games for the little ones, places for wet wellies, brollies and ample wipes and cleaning equipment. We look forward to returning again.

The cottage was immaculate, we had such a lovely stay we didn’t want to leave. The kitchen was so well stocked, everything seem to have been carefully planned, even including children’s cutlery, plates and bowls. I didn’t need many of the things I packed! The cottage was only a short walk away from the park, beach, leisure facilities and pub. We pre booked some children’s activities via the Bay website and there was so much to do in the local area we needed so stay longer to enjoy everything on offer. The cottage was easily the best place we have stayed in a number of years and I’m sure we will be back.

Fabulous home from home

From the initial contact through to leaving everything was handled impeccably. This is a fantastic cottage that is in a great location for all amenities on site and the fabulous beach. Despite staying over the bank holiday period the cottage was peaceful. Lots of lovely touches within the cottage from umbrellas, (luckily we didn’t need them) dvd’s and games and a well kitted kitchen. We would definitely recommend for either a couple or family holiday.

The bay Filey is a super place for families to stay.

Ridgeway cottage is owned by Damon and Maxine from Sheffield. We have two teenage children who both enjoy spending time at the cottage.
We bought the cottage after booking a last minute short break in the summer of 2016, although the height of the season, the complex was so peaceful and relaxing. We thought we would never tire of the surroundings.

We completed our purchase just before Christmas 2016 and spent the next month furnishing the property so that our guests will have the same experience from a relaxing holiday as we did in summer 2016.

Fast foward to the current year and we still love to stay regularly at our cottage. Staying often allows us to keep it to the same high standard our guests expect. We have a wealth of regular guests that stay year after year, helping families create valuable memories.

Why they chose this property

Having never been to Filey, the quaint little town captured our hearts straight away. Our plan was to visit at weekends after a busy week at work, walk along the beach into Filey, grab fish and chips to eat in Filey gardens (we have our favourite bench) and walk back at low tide.

Now 7+ years of staying we do venture further. We love a trip to see the seals at Flamborough, Puffins at North Landing and a trip to nearby Bridlington or Scarborough but we always make time for a sit on our favourite bench, enjoying the view of the bay of Filey beach.

What makes this property unique

The heart of the home is the open-plan living area, thoughtfully laid out to bring people together. Whether you're cooking up a storm in the kitchen, sharing stories around the dining table, or lounging on the sofa with a good book, the spacious design allows families and friends to be together without feeling crowded.

Step outside, and you’ll find a patio furnished with a rustic wooden table and chairs — the perfect place for morning coffee or evening meals. It overlooks a lush communal garden where little ones can play and adults can unwind, all within view.

What makes our cottage truly special is that it’s more than just a rental — it’s our second home. As owners, we stay here often, which means we’re always looking at it with fresh eyes. If something isn’t quite right, we fix it. We’ve created a space we love, and we hope you’ll love it too.
