Beautiful, clean home with plenty of space for a family. We slept comfortably and enjoyed seeing the surrounding area. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, utensils, cups, pots and pans. There's a washer and a clothesline to dry clothes. My little ones loved the classic Walt Disney books full of stories. It was nice to have space to spread out instead of being squashed in a small room.
Two small things that would have helped: bringing my own potato peeler (the one in the kitchen is ok if you only need to peel one potato, but there are 8 of us so a good peeler makes a difference!)
Also, there were only two rolls of toilet paper provided. Again, that will be enough for most parties, but our family needed more.

Paul - we are glad you enjoyed our home - it is in a lovely setting. We will make sure there is sufficient toilet paper for future guests, and we will check the potato peeler, and likely purchase another one. We hope you choose to come and visit again. Best wishes - Colin and Becci
We had a lovely couple of days staying in this perfectly located home away from home. The view of the mountains is outstanding. It was so relaxing I didn’t want to leave. The home had everything we needed and was super quiet. The beds were very comfortable. The communication with the property owners was also so easy.

A very peaceful and relaxing setting where we spent two nights. It did not feel that we were in a sterile road/travel environment but rather a home.
The decor and furniture was outdated but quaint.
The kitchen area (oven, microwave, counter tops) was not especially clean and one lazy boy armchair was definitely in need of replacement.
Property is very clean and tidy with everything you need if travelling with a family or group. We have a family of 5 (2 teenagers and a toddler) and found it perfect.
While the house is older it is very comfortable with beautiful views from the lounge room and a real homely feel. The only downside is it did get a bit cold inside but if a family from Queensland can handle it than it’s not a big problem! Note there is also no dish washer so this might be a problem for some?
Overall with 3 rooms (4beds) this is a good choice for families or groups who want a comfortable place to stay.
We had a lovely stay in this great bach. Clean and tidy and close to town. Has everything you could need and was cosy and warm with heaters and blankets. The wine and heat pump turned on before we arrived we're both super lovely bonuses. Stunning views and a great place to chill out or a base for adventures.

Very clean. Great instructions with some nice wine. Great location and good information provided. Helpful brother next door. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend or stay there again. Nice patio and view. We would like to meet the owners and thank them personally. Amazing landscape with a lot of great hikes and tours.

Would not recommend this property for more than two people. Was advertised as sleeping 8. We had 6 of us and that was a struggle. Toilet, shower, which is over bath, and washouse all in tiny one room. Double beds, not even queen size terribly uncomfortable. Lounge chairs and sofa uncomfortable. Rubbish still in kitchen bin on our arrival.

We were totally surprised to read Sally’s negative review in light of the handwritten note she left for us that said “Hello Becci and Colin. Please note your cutlery drawer has the front coming off it and needs attention. It was like this when we arrived. Many thanks for a lovely stay. Sally and Doug.“ However, the drawer was not broken when we left our home the same morning. We repaired the broken kitchen drawer at no charge to Sally. She did not mention the broken deck chair on her note, and when we asked her about it, she replied that it broke when a friend sat on it. We decided to withhold $75 of her security deposit as compensation, and it seems that as a result of our action, she decided to retaliate with a very negative and false review. Her review completely contradicts her hand-written thank you note and all other reviews of our property

Great stay with great views!
We had a great stay! The unit has great views from the doorwall and back deck. The views were ever changing with the weather including wonderful sunsets and rainbows after the rain. The unit had everything we needed. It was the only place we stayed that had a coffeemaker and not just a plunger/french press, which was nice. Very convenient for Milford sound day trips.

What a wonderful home in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Good central location for seeing Milford Sound and local hiking. The owners were so wonderful and easy to work with. Great Place to Stay in Te Anau
Very nice house, very nice people!! We had the pleasure of staying in this quaint abode while staying in Te Anau and exploring the Fjords. The place was very clean and cozy with a beautiful view off the back deck. We also were lucky enough to meet the owners who couldn't have been more welcoming. If we are every back in the area we would definitely stay here again!!

Perfect!
Wonderful location, fully equipped with everything we needed. What we really appreciated was extra towels. Not sure why but most places we have been have one hand towel in the bathroom for four people for two days. No extras. ?? Nice walk down to the lake, downtown to restaurants and perfect spot before heading to Milford Sound. Nice back deck with a great view. Highly recommend it.

A great place to come and then leave wishing you could do it all again.
Payment and arrival directions were clearly communicated and upon entering we found all we needed in the clean and cozy house with wonderful changing view of the mountains. Only wish we would have had more time to enjoy all the amenities the owners left at our disposal. Perfect place from which to make the drive to Milford sound.

Clean, nice views, close to town.
Well-stocked, fully-furnished comfortable property. Nice to come home to after a long day's sightseeing. Short walk to lakeside and downtown. Well-situated for visiting Queenstown area, Milford Sound, and more southerly Fiordland access points. This traveler appreciates the nice bottle of riesling awaiting upon check-in! Very helpful and easy-to-contact caretaker. Would stay again when visiting this area. Very pretty town with good eats and nice walks.

Why they chose this property
Mountain Vista on Matai is a place to come to if you wish to find peace and quiet. After working in various locations far from New Zealand, it is a dream come true to come “home” to the southern alps. Proximity to the wild outdoors makes this a very special place in our hearts. We hope you enjoy the comfort, peacefulness and alpine charm that Mountain Vista on Matai has to offer.
What makes this property unique
On our first visit to this home, we were immediately enchanted by the picture-perfect framed view of the mountains from the living room and deck, with the ever-changing images created by the interplay of sun and clouds. In addition, this has brought us closer to family and life-long friends.
