Bantam/Litchfield is a picturesque area steeped in history. The nation's first law school was located in downtown Litchfield. The neighborhood offers a wide range of activities, including swimming, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, hiking. There is also a vibrant culinary scene with several highly acclaimed restaurants and artisan bakeries. Many guests say the ice cream, produced by local cows, is the best they have ever tasted.

Great place for families. Well maintained, excellent dock for swimming, kayaking, fishing. Nice cabins. David is very helpful! Would come back for sure.
Lovely renovated cabins sitting on Lake Bantam. The owner was very nice and accommodating. We stayed in the smaller of the two cabins which offered 3 bedrooms with 6 beds between them all very comfortable. The kitchen and bath were cozy but the common area offers a second restroom and there are grills and plenty of big tables to eat. We enjoyed our stay and will consider it again.
The property pictures and descriptions are spot on. It is obvious how much care David takes in improving and maintaining the property. He was always accessible and provided nice suggestions also. It was a lovely and relaxing long weekend get away for us as a family! Thank you!
My fiancé (now husband) and I stayed with our Bridal Party at Camp David while getting married in Morris, CT. The accommodations were perfect for such an event! We rented 3 of David’s cottages, which all share the same property and are just steps from Bantam Lake. David was very laid back and great at communicating and accommodating several of our needs. He has all of the amenities necessary for a weekend getaway on the Lake including BBQ supplies and equipment for several different water activities. He has a personal handy man that was quick to respond to and resolve a couple of minor concerns. He also offered to help us unload any belongings. We’re so appreciative of David for providing such hospitality and the perfect accommodations for our wedding weekend! We have memories to last a lifetime. Highly recommend!
My friends and I had a blast at this location! We couldn’t get enough of the wrap-around porch, we spent almost all of our time on it! From the dock to the kayaks, fun floats and fire pits, we had a great, great time. David was an amazing host, he even stopped by a local bakery and fruit stand and brought us fresh baked bread and peaches! He was friendly and very responsive! We loved everything about our stay, we will be back for sure!
We had a short stay due to bad weather but David was magnanimous as it related to our changing schedule.
The property allowed for us to enjoy great family-time and enjoy kayaking and exploring.
We will be back.
We had a wonderful time at Camp David! We've done a weekend with friends for years now and this was easily one of the best places we've stayed. We rented several of the houses and had plenty of space for our group to spread out. We spent our entire stay lakeside - hanging out, sitting by the firepit, swimming and grilling! David was easy to reach with any questions or concerns (even reset the wifi remotely one night).
Only caveat for future guests to note is that there are multiple cottages on the property that can be rented by other guests. We had two different families stay in the unoccupied house during our stay, both were very friendly and we had no issues coexisting on the property.
Our family rented this cottage along with the larger one so that we could gather together for a vacation. Being right on the lake was the best part of our experience, and the children (and adults) spent large portions of the day swimming, kayaking, and fishing. The enclosed porch enabled us to gather in larger groups. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen and bathroom were adequately furnished. The surrounding area is full of hiking paths and great eating experiences. David made sure that we had whatever we needed. It was great - and unique - to have all of those activities in one place!
The lake is beautiful and David is a fantastic host! He is extremely responsive. Lovely view from the wraparound porch. There are also a lot of "extras" to enhance the stay such as kayaks, floats, life jackets etc. and a great outdoor area with furniture and a fire pit. He even brought us pastries from the artisan bakery up the road. The beds are comfortable. If you are truly planning to cook, the kitchen is a bit small and we had to be creative with the available equipment in the kitchen.
In June 2021, we stayed at the "Lakeview" house, which is the 2nd rental back from the lake, of David's three houses.
The green lawn, picnic tables, and dock in the lake were enjoyed by the whole family.
It was very hot that week, and one of the three small bedrooms did not have working AC, but David addressed that quickly. The main area of the home (living room and kitchen) does not have AC, and got pretty warm, but we spent most of our daylight hours outside enjoying the lake.
House was clean and well organized, and David communicated clearly.
We loved the lake. Cabin was great too. Only slight minus is that the living room coffee table and the porch chairs are too big, making the space harder to get around in. But that's minor.
We had our wedding at South Farms and were in search of a property (or properties) to accommodate us and our wedding party for the weekend. When we happened upon David's 3 properties, it was almost too good to be true. We rented all three because of their convenient location to each other and their proximity to South Farms,
which was about a 7 minute drive from the properties. It definitely made it easier to not lose certain wandering groomsmen!
It is a little bit difficult to locate the driveway to the properties. Just make sure to look for the Camp David sign above the hedges! There were a number of our guests that missed it the first time. Larger or more vibrant signage may have helped a bit. Also, note that parking can accommodate about 6 cars, so plan accordingly. And, don't be concerned by the first house you see upon arrival. This is not one of the houses for rent!
Once you walk beyond the second set of hedges, the lake view was great! The fire pit was a perfect meet up spot for everyone at the end of day. If you are planning to have a fire for more than a couple of hours, just make sure to bring extra wood. The available kayaks and floating dock provided for hours of entertainment.
The owner, David, is very eager to answer any questions you may have and is very hands-on with his properties. He will meet up with you to assist with check-in and show you around. However, it would be great if check-in / check-out / lock-up procedures were published online and in the welcome information packet because when things got a little hectic with the rehearsal and wedding prep, it would have been nice to have an easy reference to know what to do instead of having to get in contact with David.
Also, just to note, there are a number of security cameras setup on the corners of every house. It made some people a little uncomfortable and was worth noting.
Overall, a very good experience on a beautiful lakefront property. It made it very simple to have a centralized location for the day of pre-wedding prep (hair, makeup, getting ready). And, once the wedding was over, we had a day of peace and quiet to fully enjoy the lake.
Nice property with everything we needed. The kayaks were a big plus!

The property was wonderful and overlooking the lake. It was very comfortable and relaxing.
Dave, the owner was so nice and we felt like we have known him for years. He made our stay very comfortable and relaxing. The property is in a beautiful location and it comes with everything one would need while being away from home. We can't wait to go back and hopefully stay for much longer.
