Linens, towels, and kitchen basics are even included -no extra fees!

We want your family to have a great, fun beach vacation on Emerald Isle and come back next year. We've got beach chairs, a cart, and a BBQ grill for you to use.

Our comfortable beach home is 100 yards away from access to a quiet beach on a quiet cul-de-sac. Complete decks on both floors with plenty of seating and ocean views/sounds. 4 bed/3 baths in perfect shape - 2 queen bedrooms with ocean view, king bedroom with en suite bathroom, and 2 twins downstairs mean there's room for everyone. High-speed internet (30 Down/5 up) and all TVs have Roku attached.

There is a short walk to the uncrowded Emerald Isle beach. This little group of houses has its own public entrance to the beach with NO car parking - the only people that use this access are on this street. The Western Ocean Access beach is an easy walk to the right if you want a life-guarded beach, another coffee shop, a pizza place, and more.

Absolutely No Smoking or pets.
Check-in at 4 pm or after and check-out at 10 am on departure day.

Details:
The middle floor has a large open kitchen and dining area with seating for eight—two sliding doors to access the porch with a table and chairs.
The top floor has 2 queen bedrooms with access to the deck and 1 shared bathroom. The master bedroom has a king bed with a private bath.
Covered parking for 2 cars and a parking pad, plus a large driveway with ample room for cars.
Washer/dryer and propane grill are available.

Beach!
We have a collection of beach chairs, a cart, “floaty things”, some sand toys, a sit-on-top kayak, and a shade awning for everyone to share.
Access: On your right, there is public beach access – very walkable. Lifeguarded beach to the right by the Western Ocean access beach.
Fishing: The Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier is a 1.6-mile drive or a 1-mile walk on the beach to the east. Surf fishing is popular especially when the beaches are quiet.
Do keep an eye out for rip tides on any North Carolina beach.
Sand! Our cleaning team works hard, but please know that the wind and wet toes bring sand everywhere.
Kayak rentals and a surf shop are also within walking distance right near the entrance to our street.

Biking & Walking
Emerald Isle is bike-friendly with bike paths along the major roads and easy bike rental if you cannot bring your own. Bike or walk to the Emerald Plantation Shopping or Food Lion each morning to pick up a coffee or a treat. It's less than a mile away. You can walk easily to the pier via the beach (about a mile away). Emerald Isle Woods Park is also about a mile away and has a pretty view of the sound.

Family Fun Activities: Right around the corner you'll find
Fun World go-carts & amusements, Salty Pirate waterpark, Emerald Forest Mini-Golf – all very close.
Hot Wax Surf and Paddle Sports Rentals about half a mile away has rentals available.
Golfin’ Dolphin, across the bridge and down Rt 58 ( 3 ½ miles total)
Emerald Isle Woods Park – down Coast Guard Lane – disc golf, woodsy hiking trail, amazing sunsets from the intercoastal pier.
Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium is located about 15 miles away

Restaurants in the Emerald Plantation Shopping Center:
Burger place (Hwy 55 Burger, Shakes, and Fries)
Pizza place (Michelangelo’s). Saturday night is totally jammed. Call far in advance!
American-style restaurant (Rucker Johns -everyone can find something here).

Food/Grocery: Food Lion and Publix in the nearby (0.6 miles, an 11-minute walk) Emerald Plantation Shopping Center. The prices are reasonable. Note that they are swamped on Saturday when new people arrive. And all those folks can quickly empty the fresh veggies and fruit.
Lowes Foods (3.2 miles, 11 min drive) - A trip across the bridge; usually not necessary. They will shop for you and do delivery, however.
Piggly Wiggly (7 miles and 12 minutes away from the house): A convenient stop on the way in if you are coming in from Jacksonville. If you are coming in on a Saturday or Sunday it'll be much less crowded.

Shopping: There is plenty of shopping on Emerald Isle and right at the Emerald Plantation Shopping Center with beach wear, book store, jewelry, movie theater... Not to mention beach “superstores” like Waves, etc.

Closest drug store: CVS Pharmacy - Photo too (1.1 miles, 3 min drive)

Check-in/check-out: Standard Check-In time is 4 pm and check-out time is 10 am.

Beach Towels: Please bring beach towels. There isn't time to turn around the house for the next guest and clean beach towels.

Food in the House: We've tried to stock the kitchen with necessary utensils and cookware. If anything is missing, please tell us so we can address the problem. You will also find standard spices, common items (oil), and some standard fridge stuff. Thus you will find some items in the fridge. These items are left because when we have rented, we have been frustrated that cooking is hard without them and we end up doing extra runs to the grocery store. Please feel free to use anything you find. If you have food you don't want to bring home and won't spoil in the next few weeks, feel free to leave it.

Next Door: Since this is a duplex we ask that folks be respectful of the families that are renting the other side of the house and our co-owner expects the same of their families.

Great week
We’ve been coming to Emerald Isle for over 30 years and we needed more space this year. Perfect location, great views of the ocean from second row, superior communication with owners! Bigger living space than we anticipated and bedrooms had all we needed. We would definitely recommend!!

About the host

In the summer I enjoy my ocean kayak and ride the waves; on the flatwater I paddleboard, windsurf, kayak, and sail my inflatable kayak sailboat. At the beach I'm happy just sitting in the tidal pools and soaking in the pretty scene. My son Brian manages the renting (with some help). He's a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill.

In the winter I want to be close to the best powder skiing in the country - Alta and Snowbird. I enjoy the Salt Lake Valley and all it has to offer from food to soccer games and a tremendous airport to get you anywhere. I grew up in New England [back when it was cold] and enjoy the freshness that comes with cold.

I've been an enthusiastic photographer all my life. It started in the Berkshires and on Cape Code and ow my focus is NC and Utah. Emerald Isle's West-East orientation [strange for the east coast] yields unique and pretty sunrises and sunsets; it's worth getting up [really] early in the morning and trying to catch a seagull flying in front of the rising sun. I'd also recommend walking across the island to the sound at sunset. Late in the season you might get the sun setting on the beach side.

Utah's Wasatch too and the view of the Salt Lake valley provide lots of opportunity for picture taking any time of day and any season of the year. In the summer, trips to national parks from SLC are my favorite; our National Parks are true gems and an endless source of inspiring photos.

Why they chose this property

My family has spent weeks at beach throughout NC and we chose to buy a house on Emerald Isle because it is simply the best combination of a family friendly place that has "peace and quiet" and "something to do." I chose the location on Emerald Isle so I could easily bike to the local stores; for me the perfect early morning activity [after you take sunrise pictures].

We would love to share our house with you so you can have the same great experiences we have.

What makes this property unique

We want vacation to be as relaxing as possible. We've rented many houses on Emerald Isle ourselves, and we designed this 1/2 duplex to reflect what our family learned. We want folks to have a pleasant, relaxing break, not a stay that ends up so stressful that you need a vacation to recover from your vacation.

We are perfectionists about the house and want everything just right. So tell us right away if something is not right and we'll get it fixed. The salty air and sand can cause all kinds of problems; we'd rather hop on a problem quickly.
