Everything was wonderful with the exception of checking out. Almost impossible to wash and empty a dishwasher by 10:00

HI Sheree.. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Checkout is 10 because its such a large property and so much to clean before next guests... we certainly don't expect people to empty the dishwasher though! That would be unfair!

Only comment would be check out too early and check in too late to enjoy any part of the day at the cottage.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The water in the lake was crystal clear though a little rough in the middle at times but very calm most of the time. There were some minor details, like the shower stalls were a little narrow and the bathtub made us a little nervous as there was nothing on the bottom of the tub stop you from slipping. It would’ve been nice to have a full length mirror somewhere as we were there for a family event and no one could see how we looked before we left. Not sure about the garbage, but it looked like no one had put out the compost for quite sometime! Nobody came to bring the garbage up to the road on the days that we saw everyone else’s out. Our week there was very nice. Enjoyed the selection of games. The decorations were nice and made it cozy. The outdoor chairs for the table on the balcony need to be replaced as many of them had the seats of the chairs broken right through. The ones we used were acceptable when cushions were used. Just lucky that we didn’t have a larger group.

Hi Cathy. Im glad you enjoyed your stay.. We were unable to stay at our place last year due to the Long Lake wildfire evacuations so we hadn't seen the state of the patio chairs.. thanks for letting us know.. new chairs on the way. Sorry about the compost bin - we've spoken to our caretaker about that.. Finally the non slip mat was next to the bath.. sorry you did not see that!

Our stay at Hummingbird Cove was wonderful. The cottage was clean and well supplied. It is tastefully decorated and the addition of the separate building allow us to house all of our adult children. We loved the sunroom looking out over the lake where we could watch the hummingbirds and listen to loon calls. Of course, this is supported by the beautiful locations of Nova Scotia such as Brier Island and Peggy's Cove. The long drive to sight seeing is worth the relaxing lakefront you return to every night.

Trout Lake adventure

We had a family of eight, kids, thirty somethings and seniors. We all loved it. It was even better than the photos. The kitchen was huge, everything we needed and more. Large kitchen table & patio. We enjoyed games and evenings in the sunroom. Everywhere has great views of the lake. Wasn't far to get anything we needed. We would definitely go back again. The host was great to deal with.

A little bit of paradise

This was our second visit to Hummingbird Cove (Trout Lake). The property is well listed, clean, spacious and overlooks the most gorgeous lake. Our stay was peaceful and quiet, the perfect getaway from our busy city lives. Alex and Sam have clear, concise instructions on check-in, the garbage process, and any other questions are answered promptly. We love this rental and will be back! Bard & Erin

Beautiful Spot

Beautiful Trout Lake, a great spot for a relaxing holiday. The house is bright , spacious and fully equipped with everything you could need. Lovely garden and beach area for a refreshing swim or take out one of the kayaks to explore the lake. We very much enjoyed our stay , we loved the outdoor area for family bbq’s and early morning coffee. Total relaxation! Smooth check in and responsive owners. Took a trip whale watching at Brier Island which was fantastic! Highly recommended 😊

Great vacation

Very well appointed cottage for a group. Lots of space, great wifi, excellent kitchen for cooking lots of fantastic meals! Bbq and deck area super comfortable. Lake water very clean, shallow for small kids if that’s important to you. Enclosed sunroom very relaxing. Each bedroom has its own bathroom which is super convenient! Would absolutely stay again. Grocery stores, WalMart etc about a 20 min drive away but didn’t bother us at all. Easy drive when we needed it. Super responsive host!!

Lovely Home on Trout Lake

Spacious home facing north east with a great view of the lake. A short walk down to the beach which includes a small dock, deck chairs and kayaks. Large kitchen and large table made a family meal work well. The sun room is very nice but not heated. The landlord is very responsive and helpful. (Including being very understanding when when made a mistake about our check out day). We hope to come back again!

Perfect lakeside retreat

We had a great time as a family at hummingbird cove. Spacious and clean cottage with room for the whole family to enjoy the lake or cottage quiet. Trout Lake was amazing for for swimming especiallly for young kids (as it’s shallow for a good bit) was a beautiful lake to kayak and explore... ducks, loons, turtle came to visit, of course hummingbirds and saw a few eagles too.. We especiallly loved the beach area and outside deck that accommodated our big family at meal times. Really a perfect holiday!

Glorious Hummingbird Cottage

The house and property is absolutely wonderful. There are so many beautiful rooms in the house to enjoy the fantastic views of the lake. The kids loved being able to use the kayaks. The lake is perfect for children and adults. There was 12 of us and there was plenty of room for everyone. Just loved our stay and will return.

Beautiful summer house on the lake.

Hummingbird Cove is a large, clean well-equipped home on a lovely lake in the middle of Nova Scotia. We appreciated the central A/C in what was a very warm week. We enjoyed the kayaks and the small beach with a dock and a fire ring. The sun room was everyone's favourite space, but the huge deck off the bright kitchen was a close second. It was pleasant just to sit out and watch the hummingbirds. Loads of space for our group of five. The only consideration to keep in mind has to do with the location, in that the property is about a 20 minutes drive to Middleton, the nearest town of any size. One might or might not find that desirable. Without a doubt our best vacation rental experience in Nova Scotia.

A lovely escape

This property is a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle. The cottage offers all that you would need to rest, relax, enjoy a fantastic meal and find restoration in the peace and tranquility of the lake. The hosts were incredibly responsive and wonderful to deal with, the property was sparkling clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. There is lots to do in the area. We enjoyed a few daytrips immensely. We would recommend Annapolis Royal, a little Frenchy's run in Wilmot and coffee in Lawrencetown. Still Fired Distillery in Lequille is also a great option. Whatever you choose, you will enjoy it!!!

Absolutely Wonderful

Great location, wonderful property, and super hosts. Our vacation was so relaxing and the house came equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was so nice to wake up each morning overlooking the lake, spending the afternoons in the lake, and enjoying the fire pit in the evening. We will be back for sure! Mark and Jenn
