Great location, generous hosts!

The room was well-appointed with lovely stone accents and great classic tile work. The location is excellent, blocks from the trendy Plaza Santa Lucia and under 15 minutes’ walk from the central square. Cy and Mike are generous and knowledgeable hosts who continually checked that we had what we needed and offered many recommendations and tips. We didn’t make enough use of the shared patio and pool areas, but both are lovely and quiet. We’d absolutely stay with them again if the opportunity comes up!

Comfortable and Convenient B&B

This B&B is located in a nice area of Merida, within walking distance of Santa Lucia plaza and some nice restaurants. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is large with plenty of warm water for showers. We enjoyed our visit and my husband did get to use the cenote-like dipping pool. The refrigerator is small but we were able to keep some cheese, yogurts and a bottle of wine chilled. A continental style breakfast is brought to your room, and a coffee pot in the room means you don't have to wait long for a cup of coffee in the morning. We were always able to catch a cab within a few minutes of stepping outside the front door. The owners are accommodating yet not intrusive and recommended some good restaurants in the immediate area that became our favorites. All in all, a pleasant stay.

Wonderful Place to stay in Merida

Great B and B. The location is perfect, safe and quiet, with many restaurants nearby. Easy walk to the central plaza and main cathedral. Good breakfast, very comfortable king size bed, clean and quiet. Good A /C and fan. Very nice owners, Mike and Cy were so helpful. Was a really great place to stay in the historic centre of Merida.

Great location, nice host, expect street noise.

Location in Centro is ideal. Mike was very attentive and responded immediately to all requests. Very personable and has obviously done this roll many times before. This is a very clean hotel sized room with bath. Space is pretty tight. You have one window but not really a view as this guest room is placed next to a typical Merida street- traffic is 12 feet away from your bed in the morning so pack earplugs. The room is air conditioned but we were encouraged to limit our usage. The refrigerator did not keep items cold. Access to a pool that was not as well maintained as the listing picture. Common areas are too close to owner's living area to make use comfortable. Expect upper deck to be blazing hot in Merida daytime.

This is likely the first and only time that we will not invite guests back to our property. We purposely did not rate these tenants because of this but now feel that we would be doing other hosts a disservice by not warning them. One of our first inclinations that these tenants were trouble was when the husband shouted at our neighbor's workers to stop working on an emergency repair that they were almost finished with. He then demanded that my husband go over with him and shout at them again. My husband did go over and speak to them in calm and respectful manner as this is how we do things here. Despite this being Mexico (many people work in the am and evening because of the heat) and it being 8:30 on a Friday evening the men stopped working. We were also disappointed with the stains the tenants left on our plush linens and on the floor. All of the above could have been prevented if these tenants communicated with us from the beginning. We could have tried to remove the stains and we would not have created tension with our wonderful Mexican neighbor. Our pool is not a typical north American pool in that it is not painted a bright turquoise. It was designed to look like a cenote in it's natural state. It is cleaned daily with a pump, top skimming and with additives to keep it bacteria free. The color of the water is reflected from the sky. If it's over cast and the winter sun is low in the sky the pool will be reflect that. It will reflect the surrounding colors of the concrete walls. If they sky is bright turquoise as it is in the summer months the water will look the same. In regards to the upper deck being hot, there is a large pergola with an over head fan that one can shade themselves under but honestly you are in the tropics and there's a reason that most people here don't go out mid day looking for a cool places. The down stairs pergola is much cooler during the day. Tenants are invited to use that at anytime. I'm sorry that you didn't realize that our property was not completely private. We actually do not use the pool during the winter months so I can't imagine our presence being invasive. You may consider renting a house the next time. Best regards

Beautiful renovation of a colonial property

Our hosts were most helpful giving us tips about places to go, restaurants . The surroundings and furnishings were lovely and we did use the pool and the upper deck quite a bit. The kingsize bed was very comfortable. The only hint I would add if you are seniors like us and don't rent a car be prepared for a lot of walking. We found it easiest for us to explore on foot but grab a cab to come home. It is easy to flag a cab from most any street and the fare, only $1.50 to $2.50 USD. We had a wonderful vacation in magical, Merida and plan to return. Patti & Larry, North Port, Florida.

A B&B gem in Merida!

This B&B is located very close to the centre of Merida. We were within walking distance of many attractions and good restaurants. No matter what time of the day, we felt safe coming and going. We stayed for a week and did a couple of day trips to the Ruta Puuc and Celestun. Merida is a great base to stay and fan out from to see the many attractions around it within an easy drive or by arranged tour or even local buses. The B&B itself is very nice. The pictures are accurate depictions of where you are staying. The room is set off of the front street, is nicely decorated, has good a/c and wifi, a very comfortable king bed, coffee and mini fridge. We really liked the little sitting area provided in our room. The only negative is that you can hear the front street noise and traffic. The a/c drowns it out a bit at night and I slept with ear plugs, so we did okay none-the-less. The main thing is that at night the neighbourhood is quite aside from a bit of street traffic. The owners were easy to deal with, provided quick responses to our home away reservation, questions, instructions and deposit return. Hooking up to get the key was also easily facilitated. With the street system it is easy to find your way around and locate thie property. Parking was never an issue for us, we always got a spot right out front. Breakfasts were simple with fresh fruits, yogurt, bagels, jams, cream cheese and granola and great coffee. mAke sure you ask to try Mike's breakfast pizza one morning during your stay, as its really good. We stayed in five different places while visiting Mexico in Feb 2016 and this was our most comfortable arrangement. We would definitely return.

Awesome Guest Suite

This suite was sweet! Great location, easy walking distance to all amenities. Right in the historic district and a fantastic walkable neighbourhood. The new bedroom suite was gorgeous, spacious and comfortable with a huge walk in shower, and a fun light up shower head! Loved the pool and the patio area. Loved the in room massage especially after the many miles of touring. Breakfast was fresh and delicious! The hosts Cy & Mike were so friendly and helpful, guiding us to all kinds of sights and excursions and they even provided the transportation to and from the airport. They made everything so easy and uncomplicated. Can't wait to stay with them again and explore more of this fantastic city and next time the plan is to include some of the on site Spanish lessons!

Despite the many places Cy and Mike have traveled over the years they chose Merida as the place to finally hang their hats. They particularly enjoy the diverse culture, food, art and of course, the tropical weather in the Yucatan. They love the sweet city life that Merida has to offer.

Cy's background is interior design, nursing and para medical skin care/permanent make up. She now spends her time painting in her studio as well as offering skin care services.
Mike was a business man who turned his suits in to learn furniture making and decorative painting. You'll now find him by the pizza oven on his quest to make the best pizza in Merida.

What makes this property unique

You don't have to walk into the main part of the house to gain entry to your room. We also have a one bedroom apartment with a king bed and full kitchen on the second floor for those who need more than one room.
