About this property
Cozy log cabin set along Jesse creek within walking distance to downtown Salmon
The cabin is built in the style of a traditional trapper cabin that were common in the area when the west was settled. It has 600 square feet and contains one bedroom and one bathroom. The cabin sleeps 3 comfortably. The bedroom has queen bed and one of the love seats converts to a single hide a bed. The cabin has a living area with dining table seating for six. There is a full kitchen with all the essentials to cook up a western style or any other type meal. The cabin has a nice front covered porch with Amish built gliders for relaxing and enjoying your morning coffee. The large side deck overlooks Jesse Creek and the fire pit area. There is outside seating on this deck with a full-sized grill for outdoor cooking and eating. The cabin is about 3/4 of a mile from downtown Salmon. Ample parking is available if you have a boat, four-wheeler or other pull behind. Salmon is an active river town. There are many options for floating the Salmon River form our cabin. Let us know and we can help direct you to the right person. The firepit area down by the creek offers a relaxing setting for enjoying a cold beverage and viewing the stars.

About the host
Hosted by Ralph and Debra Swift
We are a retired couple who lived in Salmon for 18 years prior to moving to Wyoming for a job opportunity. We purchased the property in 2006 with plan for a retirement home. We decided instead to move to the Boise area to be nearer to the kids and grandkids. We still love the Salmon area and have many friends there. We wanted a place, beyond our camp trailer, to stay when we visit the area and friends. We had an opportunity to buy a log shell from a log home builder in Salmon. We bought it and moved it to the property as our home away from home. We use it mainly in the early spring and late fall.
We both grew up in small towns in Eastern Colorado and still enjoy the small town feeling that Salmon offers but yet it has the amenities of most large towns. Salmon has many outdoor recreation activities that we enjoy as well as restaurants. It has a challenging 9-hole golf course, many scenic areas, parks, river walks, mtn. bike trails and other. We feel Salmon is an undiscovered area that can use a boost from tourism. We decided to open our cabin for visitors to enjoy this beautiful valley and friendly people.

Why they chose this property
Looking for a base for an outdoor vacation without camping? This cabin takes you back to an earlier time but still offers many comforts of home. It provides a place to relax on the deck or sit by a cozy fire. It provides a place to view nature and to dream of how it might have been back in pioneer days. The cabin sleeps 3 comfortably but has areas for young children with a bit of adventure.
What makes this property unique
There is nothing like sitting on the front deck with a cup of coffee or a beer looking out at the Bitteroot Mtns. The large side deck offers a place to gather, grill a burger or steak, and look out over the landscaping and vegetation along the creek. We have used native plants for the most part to landscape in front and off the deck. This is challenging as the deer also like this area and can often be seen along the creek; along with many birds and humming birds feeding on the flowers. It is a great weekend get away or a home base for a week vacation.
