While check in process was easy, don’t let the pictures fool you. None of the furniture is the same as in the pictures. The hot tub does not work. There is no firepit outside. The house smells and it is evident the host is aware of this because there are odor eliminators all hidden around the house. There are water stains on the ceiling in the basement suggesting a leak, also evident the host is aware as there is a dehumidifier downstairs. If you are allergic to dogs this house used to allow dogs and there are still leashes, a dog cage and dog beds downstairs. Host was not very happy to hear what we had to say and told us she’s sorry we can’t read. The first 4 hour of my trip were spent with customer service and listening to Julie say we are running her weekend by letting her know we were unhappy. Overall will not be coming back and should report the property.
Julie is an amazing host! The house is so cute and has everything you need for a great stay. She has thought of everything that you would need but may have forgotten. We were there for a wedding so didn’t spend a lot of time relaxing there but it has everything you would need for a relaxing getaway. The location is close to everything which made it easy to get around. Definitely will book with Julie if we need to stay in Valparaiso in the future!!
This was the perfect location for a short visit to family in the area. Location was convenient, host was communicative, and the home had the amenities listed. We appreciate the host's flexibility and enjoyed our stay.
The house is so cute! There so much room for such a little house, and so many games for the kids! It was so warm and cozy we didn't notice it was snowing outside!
The house sleeps 7 comfortably - with a couple couches that could sleep 3 more if needed. Very clean, good beds, good linens on beds, good bath towels. Check in was easy and our host Julie checked in often, left us a fresh baked treat and was the best !!!
Check in, parking, everything we needed was available. Owner gave us a heads up about a local event that occurred during our stay and was otherwise available during our stay. Thanks!
We loved the great location with the park across the street and lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance! The house was very spacious with a great basement living area and lots of games! The outdoor living space and HUGE fenced in yard was a big hit for our group! We also enjoyed all the amenities for our two toddlers-strollers, high chair, toys, etc…
Host was very communicative and even left a delicious bread for us 😋
Julie was very accommodating and made sure we knew what we needed to about the property. The house and back yard are very kid friendly - Lots of children's books and toys and there's a park right next door.
My best friend and I set up shop with our games and had a weekend of moseying around downtown and playing games like we had years ago. The house was as advertised and we were able to walk everywhere. Julie, the host, was very accommodating and kind.
This was the perfect home for us while we were in town for our son’s commencement weekend at Valparaiso University! It was about a ten minute walk to the ARC, and it was really nice to be so close to campus—he and his friends could easily stop in between events and have dinner with us. There were lots of games in the basement closet for guests, as well. Our host, Julie, was wonderful and left us a sweet treat and a note of congratulations, too. So very thoughtful. All around a wonderful stay!

Cute house with plenty of beds
I have stayed at quite a few homeaway homes and have never had a complaint. We cleaned up after ourselves and left the home pretty clean but obviously not clean enough. I was asked to drive over an hour out of my way to come back to clean up some dirt off the stairs and a small mess on the floor. (Took me less than 5 minutes to clean but over an hour to make it there and back which seemed like a complete waste of my time) I understand it is someone else's home but you do pay a cleaning fee. The cleaning fee obviously doesn't cover any dirt on the stairs so if you are going to stay at this place I would suggestion hiring your own cleaning crew for when you leave so you don't have to go back. The owner made it seem as if she was doing us a favor by allowing us to stay there. She seemed burdened by the fact that she had to come clean the sheets etc. We paid a lot of money for one night in aregular sized home. When she was "yelling" at me for the mess, I seriously felt like I was back on high school getting in trouble by my mom. Everything was great until the owner showed up as we were leaving. Everything was down hill after that.

Response from VrboOwner on 24 Mar, 2020
Danielle forgot to mention why I immediately called her. There were big huge muddy paw-prints (from the 110 pound dog I met in the driveway?) and pee puddles in the home. Her reservation did NOT include pets. One of the party goers allowed this pet to enter the home and mark, everywhere. This was a major mess to clean up.
The host is great. She's very personable and highly responsive. I wish more hosts were like her. The house is baby proof which is a huge plus. Our host got out a pack and play for us, a rail for the bed, tons of board games. The drawbacks are the neighborhood. It is outside the scope of the host.
The house sits on a curve with a hill so all night we would hear cars come around the corner and give it gas to go up so it was a bit loud and kept my kids up here and there. The neighbor across he street has a loud truck and it seemed like he would come and go multiple times. Our issue was simply the road noise.
Also, the dryer is kind of hidden. There is one for sale on the right of the washer. If you unhook the drapes to the left you can see the somewhat working dryer. I get why it's kind of hidden, the host was trying to corner off the utilities the best way she could and the way the curtains hung, it had to be that way. The dryer is very sketchy and shame on me for not mentioning it to the host. Basically, it is like roulette with the knob to start. At times, it would start on the sensor setting, other times only on the timed settings, and other times somewhere within either of those settings.
Another helpful thing the host did was leave notes throughout the home. For instance, an emergency flashlight so she would put a marker for it. She would do that throughout the house to help when she's not there. She also left out candy for guests and would have some specialty bread.
This house was perfect for our family gathering in preparation for a wedding. It had everything we needed and is walking distance to the college and downtown area. Julie is an excellent host and great communicator. The house was comfy and clean and has a large backyard. We really enjoyed our visit
Great rental house. Just as pictured. Clean and comfortable. House is stocked with everything you might need and Julie is awesome!
