About this property
Hang out with Moose! Log Cabin near RMNP/Columbine Lake
Our log cabin has a great private location nestled in an aspen grove just minutes from Grand Lake. We are just steps away from Columbine Lake, a private 45 acre natural lake just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. This is the perfect getaway for a family vacation, romantic getaway, or reunion with friends. Our location backs up to private wooded land, allowing for lots of privacy and an abundance of wildlife to come near the cabin including Moose, Deer, Fox, and Elk. We are located on a dead end street with neighbors on one side only. Rocky Mountain National Park is 1 mile away and the Village of Grand Lake is just a couple minutes drive.
The interior of the cabin offers an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings in the great room. Natural log beams support the loft upstairs and a log railing follows the stairs up and across the loft, giving it that rustic touch. On the main floor is the 2nd bedroom with queen bed, full bath with shower and laundry, fully stocked kitchen, dining area, great room, and a bar area. Upstairs you will find a full bath with shower / tub, large master bedroom with a king sized log bed and twin bunk beds, and the loft with a trundle bed that serves as the third bedroom. The loft offers privacy from the rest of the cabin and opens up to the balcony outside.
In the evening, have a fire in the fire pit outside and gaze at the stars up above. Rustic log benches surround the fire pit along with adirondack chairs. Please note, firewood may not be available at the cabin and can be purchased in town. If you are planning to bring your dog, well behaved pets will be considered and a pet fee would be applied to your reservation if approved.
Grand Lake is a year round destination. During the summer you can enjoy boating on the 3 lakes (Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Lake Granby), hiking, mountain biking, ATVs, 4th of July fireworks, and the list goes on. During the winter months this area is the snowmobiling capital of Colorado with over 100 miles of groomed trails. Skiing choices are plentiful between Ski Granby Ranch nearby, Winter Park and the legendary champagne powder of Steamboat Springs. Perhaps the greatest year round draw of the area is Rocky Mountain National Park with it amazing scenery and abundance of wildlife.

We were so pleased with this cabin. The location is perfect with close access to the park and lots of options for hiking. We saw two momma moose with her calf’s outside our window during our stay
The cabin is clean and orderly. It was very easy to find what we were looking for. The location is convenient, just a 10 min drive into Grand Lake and about 15 minutes to entrance of RMNP. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We even got to see a mother and baby moose right before we left! Scott was super helpful and promptly responded to our questions. We highly recommend this property!
Beautiful large cabin. Everything we needed was there. Every moring and most afternoons, we had moose and deer in the yard. Such a beautiful area. Close to yown and entrance to the park. Definitely recommend!
Loved the cabin. Loved the location which was a five minute drive to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Cabin was very clean. Host was great to us.
This place was easily accessible, close to town but far enough away. The cabin was clean and comfortable and the host was very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks for everything!
Perfect location, close to the national park. Grand Lake is an awesome little town. Scott was a great host and the cabin is in perfect condition. We saw moose and baby moose every day. The fire pit and stars were incredible. Can’t go wrong with this place!
We thoroughly enjoyed our wintertime stay at this cozy cabin, including skiing at Winter Park, exploring Grand Lake village, and snowshoeing in RMNP. The cabin is perfect - beautiful setting, clean, spacious, and great amenities. It had everything we needed. Communication with Scott was great as well. 5 stars all around!
The cabin was everything we thought it would be and more. The cabin was well stocked with everything you could think of. Very clean and the host kept in contact throughout our stay. If we go back to Grand Lake again we will definitely stay at this cabin.

Everything was perfect. We saw moose every day by the cabin and at the nearby lake. Cabin was cozy and host was helpful. A great girls getaway!
Wonderful cabin, great location, lots of wildlife ! Could not have asked for a better place to spend ten days in the Rocky Mountains. Would highly recommend
The property is just as advertised. We were lucky to see moose twice, but the ither wildlife is just as nice. House is comfortable and in a great location.
Grrat.
Scott’s cabin was PERFECT! The weather turned on us and the snow was so beautiful! The wood stove kept us perfectly warm! When Berthoud Pass was closed down the day we were to leave, Scott graciously allowed us to stay one more night! Although we didn’t see any Moose this time, we’re already making plans to come back!
Booking and communication with owner was easy and straight forward. The cabin is awesome, near Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. Great vacation!
We are a young family originally from Michigan currently residing in Castle Rock. We have missed the water until we came to Grand Lake! On our first vacation here we immediately fell in love with the area. The wildlife, lakes, and small town feel is what truly makes this area unique. We wanted a place for our family to spend time outdoors and experience all the benefits Colorado has to offer. Owning a log cabin has always been a dream of ours. Happy to say that dream has come true and we would like to share the experience with you and your family!
Why they chose this property
It has always been a dream of ours to own a log cabin in the mountains. The hard part for us was finding a cabin with the right location. I can not say enough good things about the location of this cabin. It is close to everything that you may want to do year round in Colorado. Whether you like to get out on the water, hike, take the ATV out, snowmobile, ski / snowboard, view wildlife, photography, or enjoy hunting this area offers it all. Perhaps the greatest year round draw of the area is Rocky Mountain National Park with its amazing scenery and abundance of wildlife.
The property itself backs up to a large piece of private land, this offers more privacy than most cabins in the Columbine Lake area and provides the opportunity to view lots of wildlife including moose, bear, deer, fox, and elk. There is a balcony off the second level that allows you to look out and hopefully see a moose wondering. On the interior of the cabin you will find an open and bright floor plan, vaulted ceilings, and wood finish throughout giving it that true log cabin feel.
What makes this property unique
Private location in the trees with lots of wildlife encounters almost daily (mainly Moose, Deer, and Fox)! Columbine lake is just across the street
