Historic Downtown Dodge City, KS. Located on Boot Hill - GUNSMOKE FANS WELCOME!!
Whether you grew up watching Gunsmoke and are Marshall Dillon’s biggest fan, or you’re just romanticized by the Old West’s history - we’re positive you will love your stay at Boot Hill Vacation Rental in Historic Dodge City!
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION If you’re coming to Dodge City on vacation, you won’t find a better location. Boot Hill Vacation Rental is centrally located in the heart of The Cowboy Capital. You’ll be walking to all of the main attractions including the world famous Boot Hill Museum, where you must spectate in a gunfight at high noon during peak season.
Our cozy vacation rental is located next to Historic Downtown Dodge City, where you’ll find great eats and shopping (our favorite is the Boot Hill Antiques).
The Santa Fe Railroad came to town in 1872 and the town grew exponentially. Dozen of train cars were loaded daily with buffalo hides and meats. You’ll be able to walk to the tracks that are still operating today! Stay and enjoy a show at the renovated Depot Theatre!
If you’re visiting during the warmer season, bring the kids to enjoy a trip to the Longbranch Lagoon - over 27,000 sq foot western themed water park!
Need to wet your whistle while exploring the the streets that Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, and Matt Dillon once walked? You’re sure to find a flavor of you choice at the Boot Hill Distillery, Dodge City Brewery, Red Beard Coffee, or even the Long Branch Saloon located in the Boot Hill Museum where they’ll serve up a tasty Sarsaparilla.
RELIVE THE WILD WEST We’re excited for your visit, but there are a few house rules you should know. There will be no gun slinging, only a hootin’ good time!
You’ll feel as if you’re reliving the legend, in our cozy home-away-from-home. Built in 1925 and recently restored, you’ll still be able to enjoy today’s luxuries and amenities. Which brings us to our next point...
AMENITIES Although this will be a disappointment to some, the streets are not dirt and we do not commute to work on horses anymore (in town anyways). You’ll be able to check in with family and work with our provided wireless internet, and be able to stay up to date on the latest news with the included cable.
PARKING There is an off street parking lot located in front of the house that borders the back side of the Boot Hill Museum.
CLEANING FEES With it being an industry standard to pass cleaning fees on to the customer, we want you to be sure that you’ll have a sparkling clean experience. We have selected the best cleaners to ensure that your stay is comfortable.

This property was the cleanest and best maintained property that we have ever stayed in through VRBO! Everything worked, the shower was wonderful and the beds were comfortable! The host was very welcoming. Overall, a wonderful experience!
Cute house in the center of Dodge City historical district. Was a halfway point on a trip and offered a break. Easy parking and getting around. Hosts were good to check in and make sure our stay was nice. It was a good value.
Wonderful home for a weekend away. We only had overnight to enjoy it due to being in town for 2A State Volleyball. This home is welcoming and has all the benefits of a home. We could relax after a day of volleyball and feel refreshed for more volleyball the next day. Besides, staying here put us a short walk away from a local brewery that not only had a variety of beers on tap to try but delious pizza too. We will definitely stay here again whenever we're in the area.
Had a great time. This neat house is in a perfect location near lots of attractions and food. Even though most events don't happen until after memorial day we still had a great time at the museum, brewery and distillery. Thanks for a great birthday getaway.
The Cottage on Boot Hill exceeded our expectations! Comfortable, cozy and the perfect place to stay when you want to wander around old Dodge City. We will definitely return...
Had a great time visiting Dodge City and the surroundinga rea
Property and the house were excellent, Tracy and Ross have strong communications skills and this was appreciated. This place in my opinion is the place to rent of you are going to Dodge City
This cottage is a pure delight.. The details made for your comfort are exceptional. Within walking distance to most anything you want to do or see. It is immaculate and has everything you need for a wonderful stay.. loved sitting on the porch in the evenings and relaxing....
Thoughtfully, comfortably and charmingly furnished and close to all the attractions. The Cottage On Boothill was perfect. Our only regret is that our trip didn’t allow a longer visit. PS - one of our party has minor mobility issues and had no problem with the few steps (good handrails) into the cottage and walk-in shower.
Tracy, the owner of with her husband, have done a great job updating and remodeling this property. It is located in such a great place we spent three days there and never started our car up. Everything is within walking distance, as they say: location, location, location!
We had a wonderful time. The cottage was spotless and so cute. The outdoor area was kind of weird (porch was perfect but side yard not so much)
Great communication from host.
Parking is across the street so loading and unloading your vehicle was a bit difficult for older guests.
I would definitely stay again. Thank you Tracy.....
The owners' love for the area is clearly on display here in this amazingly decorated home. You'll love the proximity to everything there is to do in town.
Enjoyed our comfortable stay at this little country cottage on the top of Boot Hill in Dodge City.

About the host
Hosted by Tracy & Ross
Ross & Tracy here! We're excited for you to visit Dodge City and experience Boot Hill! Dodge City is home to us. With Ross' passion for history and Tracy's creative ability to turn nothing into something. We dreamed of one day renovating a home for guests and tourists to enjoy our rich western history. The Cottage On Boot Hill is our first vacation rental that we purchased and renovated in 2019. In addition to this hobby, we adore time with our 1 year old son, and hanging out with our mastador and pug! From The Cottage you will see the Renaissance-style Church where we were married. You can walk to The Boot Hill Museum where you'll find Tracy's Grandpa was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame. A few of our favorite local hang outs are within walking distance: Bella Italia, Central Station Bar & Grill, Red Beard Coffee & Boot Hill Antiques!
Why they chose this property
It’s the most famous Cowtown of them all, some say the most wicked. Legendary lawmen like Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson and Doc Holliday are part of the lore. The infamous Santa Fe Trailhead is in this city. Travel by stagecoach and horseback was the mass transit of the day. Communication by telegraph and the U.S. Mail were the preferred means of social media. The city itself was founded in 1872. Having no equal, the syndicated television show, Gunsmoke featured this city, along with characters Matt Dillon, Miss Kitty, Doc, Festus, and Newley, in its long run, and portrayed Dodge City quite well. Accurately depicting a historically correct Wild West, the Front Street replica and Boot Hill portray life as it was. Enjoy the walking tour of the bronze statues of famous individuals after your visit to Front Street and Boot Hill. You’ll find no closer means of feeling the history of Old Dodge City, than to enjoy your stay in The Cottage on Boot Hill. The Cottage, built in 1925, and renovated in 2019, completes the feeling of how life might have been. And yes, it has air conditioning and heat, and modern day amenities on the inside. Presented by Ross and Tracy, local Dodge Citians, this cottage is sure to please.
What makes this property unique
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! You won't find a better location, than being right in the middle of it all! We're located by Downtown Dodge City on the Famous Boot Hill.
SPA LIKE EXPERIENCE In the 1880's, Dodge City was the end of the trail for many cowboys driving cattle up from Texas. With weeks of being on the cattle trail, it must have been a spa-like experience for those cowboys to take a hot bath in Dodge City. Enjoy our luxurious spa-like bathroom, with a dual rainfall shower system, plush resort towels, and lavender and aromatherapy toiletries.
COFFEE BAR We love to start our day with a good cup of coffee. Enjoy the rustic-chic coffee bar, or stroll over to Red Beard Coffee to start your day out right! The Cottage has the best front porch to enjoy that morning coffee!
