We greatly enjoyed our time here in the peaceful outdoors. Cabin is beautiful and kid-friendly. The Shoemaker Nature Preserve and Chalet Nivale were the perfect hikes for young kids.
This place is perfect if you’re wanting peace & quiet away from the hustle & bustle. We loved sitting on the porch listening to the storms come in and fishing at the pond catching fish after fish. We played games on the porch and in the lawn and grilled dinner each night. It was like camping with a really nice place to sleep & shower in. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get away from people. It was the perfect get-away for our family!
Enjoy the great outdoors in a modern barn. Great fishing and awesome fire pit. Close to many attractions and food. Excellent hosts on top of it all, will be back for sure.
The cabin was more than we could have asked for Excellent accommodations! The setting was perfect for our hunting camp very close to the public hunting areas and to town. The Cabin spoiled us, I would highly recommend this Vacation rental for Hunters, Hikers or any Outdoor enthusiast.

Very nice property that is quiet and peaceful. Good value for the money. A great place to get away to if you want some downtime to recharge. Owners communicated well and we had no issues.
The property was very clean and the kitchen was fully stocked. We enjoyed the patio and fire pit in the evenings while relaxing from a long day of work. Beautiful cabin!!
Originally from Peebles, so this cabin tucked away in the woods was PERFECT for our return for the holidays. The cabin had everything you need and more (ie toiletries). The gas fireplace was a nice touch and was much needed for the snowy weekend in Southern Ohio.

We love this place!
wow! what a great place! it has everything! Grills, fire pit, awesome porch., incredible bathroom! very comfortable and private. love it!
This place was beautiful. Very peaceful. Town was cute. We ate at Abbies for breakfast. We seen a couple deer. Fished the pond unfortunately we didnt catch any bass. We did catch a lot of bluegills. This is a place we talked of returning to. Btw the bathroom is gorgeous.
Our family had a wonderful vacation at the red barn !! It had everything we needed and more . Relaxing evenings on the porch and by the firepit . Fishing in the pond was perfect for the kids they caught lots of bluegill. We made delicious dinners on the grill and smores by the fire . The privacy/secluded area was perfect for our family to get some quality time together . Even our youngest had a blast playing on her playpin on the front porch . The weather was perfect and the hosts were wonderful 😊 would definitely return & recommend to others .
This barn would best be described as rustic luxury. Super clean, super secluded, super decorated, super comfortable. Porch was so nice. We had two nights and a day of almost solid rain. But it did not spoil our fun. Great coffee house cafe in town, Greene Beanery. Cool antiques barn- Barn Sale Antiques. Great hiking at Buzzardroost Trailhead and also at the nature preserve a stone's throw from the barn. Bathtub super relaxing. We will certainly be back. Thank you for sharing your barn with us.

We had a wonderful relaxing time at the Red Barn. It is very quiet.
This was just the place my husband and I were looking for. With no cell service our grown children couldn’t bug us. We did have WiFi so they could leave us messages and we could answer in our own time.
The cabin has everything except a cookie sheet but we made do. The fireplace in the cabin took the chill off every morning. I was able to get a couple of craft projects done and my husband read a book.
Hope to come back some day.

We're so glad you had a nice relaxing stay!! We do offer free long distance because cell service is spotty but it's nice you could go off grid!! We thought we had a cookie sheet out there. We'll be sure to put one out there right away. Thank you for the great review!
We chose this place because of its proximity to serpent mounds and because it is beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. The barn is beautiful. It was the largest master bedroom we have stayed in and the alcove for our son to sleep in was perfect. The pond was frozen over from the recent blizzard but ironically enough it was almost 70 degrees. So we were able to sit outside on the porch, have a bonfire, lay in the hammock and explore the woods. Next time we will try to fish:) It was a great trip all around and the host sends very clear directions on how to enter the place prior which was helpful do to the spotty cell service.

All the comforts of home in an amazingly peaceful setting!
My husband, 2 granddaughters and I were fortunate to spend a couple wonderful nights at this beautiful property! The owners, Deb and Lee, went out of their way to book our stay on short notice and kept us notified when severe weather temporarily caused a small problem for our stay. The red barn was cozy and comfortable and the surrounding acreage, wooded with pond and creek, made for the perfect wilderness getaway. The girls enjoyed exploring the woods and creek, resting under the trees in the hammock and our nightly campfires. My husband was thrilled to enjoy the outdoors by day and keep up with sports and entertainment on t.v. in the evening. The beautiful stand of pines where I was able to photograph tiny little Golden-crown Kinglets as they flew between the trees was my favorite part of our stay. Though Adams County has many spots worth visiting, we all agreed that enjoying the beauty and solitude of this rental was the best part of our trip.

The beauty and solitude of the area is the reason we bought this property. It's wonderful to hear from someone who takes notice of that. Not many people realize that Adams County is home to hundreds of species of rare plants and birds. We're so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for taking the time to submit your review!
We’ve been to many cabins but the Red Barn is by far the most well stocked rental we have ever been to. Anything you could need was already made available. We brought our own metal sticks for the fire pit to make marshmallows for s’mores but that was really the only thing that was needed. The furniture and beds were very comfortable and there was enough seating for our family of four.
The surrounding nature was beautiful. We woke one morning to a family of deer by the pond, multiple bunnies and birds, and even saw a blue tailed skink. We fished in the pond multiple times and managed to catch quite a few bluegill.
There are nearby attractions as well such as Serpent Mound and Family Traditions Animal Adventures which our kids loved.
Deb was very communicative and responsive to any questions we had. Thanks so much for a lovely long weekend!

About the host
Hosted by Deb & Lee Giles
We wanted to offer people the experience of a unique, relaxing retreat in the country, so we built this place in one of the most beautiful places in Ohio! Located in Adams County, at the base of Tener Mountain! We wanted something different, so my husband came up with the idea to build "The Red Barn!" Amish-built in 2015.
Why they chose this property
We love to travel, and so we wanted to offer a unique experience to vacationers, and came up with the idea of a barn vacation rental. Looks like a barn on the outside, but has brand-new full amenities on the inside!! You don't have to be "born in a barn" to vacation in one!
What makes this property unique
Situated in a private setting in the forest, overlooking a pond - what more could you ask for??? Sit back and relax on the covered front porch; enjoy cozy evenings by the gas fireplace in the living room (seasonal: November - April). Build a campfire, and fish in your own acreage--catfish, bass and bluegill are ready. Play corn hole or go for a hike in beautiful Brush Creek Forest. Stargaze by the firepit. It's your private retreat! Or there's plenty to go and do if you so desire. Enjoy!!
