Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta Riviera Nayarit

The property is beautiful, well maintained and convenient. Luxurious pools and lounging areas. Beaches are clean and within walking distance. Excellent choices of restaurants, variety of cuisine. The resort is huge, and can be explored by foliage covered pedestrian walking paths or golf carts that come by frequently. Daily shows and entertainment at the Santuario. Staff is gregarious, friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, complete with kitchen and living space. Resort will pick you up from the airport. Adventure tours can be booked from your home location or from the resort, and there are many activities to choose from. Adam is friendly and responsive, he made booking the property easy and provided all the necessary information we needed for our stay. One recommendation is that when he books the property is to request ocean views, if the owner requests ocean views, they said that they try to always accommodate the request when possible. We had an excellent vacation and I hope to be able to go back soon!

Great family friendly resort

This was truly the best resort I have been to. The pictures online don't adequately describe how nice this resort is. The resort is very very large consisting of multiple hotel buildings connected by jungle like walkways or large electric carts. Everywhere is very well manicured gardens and water features. Upon entering the resort by uber it takes 5 minutes just to get to the resort taxi station. Then an electric cart takes you and others to your designated hotel. Not only do they have large hotels but they also have a center plaza where you can buy some groceries and small dining. Everywhere you can see how well built this place is kind of like an amusement park. There are many pools to choose from with pool side dining and bars. There is also an entertainment center which is very grand and has shows every night. In all the beauty of the construction of all the building is breath taking.

beautiful resort

We had a wonderful experience at the Grand Mayan. The condo was lovely and very spacious. The grounds and pools were fabulous and being near the beach was an added factor. Would have given a 5 star if not for the day of check in. That had nothing to do with Adams condo but the resort needs to improve on their process on that first day. Would recommend this property

Beautiful property and sitting

This is our fourth visit to a Vidanta location and second time to PVR. The grounds are beautiful, beach ocean everything is wonderful setting. The staff is very accommodating very friendly goes out of their way to make you feel happy. There were lots more food choices than last time we were here so you don’t really need to leave the resort. Food was good and generally priced OK unless you’re gonna order expensive drinks or Big meals. It would be helpful to have at least one other place for a simple small breakfast. About the only thing available is the huge breakfast buffets. The downside of course is the hideous sales pressure. Everything about this place is geared towards selling you a membership or getting you to attend the high pressure, rubber hose sales presentation they claim is “only 90 minutes” but in reality 4-6 hours. Would you do succumb and buy membership every time you come here there’s huge pressure to upgrade and buy more or buy into more expensive part of their program. It’s easy to see that they are putting most of their effort and money into making the more expensive portions of the program like Grand Bliss and Luxxe look nice, while letting the older parts like Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan age and nit be so inviting. The object of course is to make one feel that they must upgrade and pay more.

Fantastic resort, staff, and location!

Booked with Adam. Was shocked at the deal he gave...and we were prepared for a low level parking lot view. Nope - 9th floor - looking at the mountains and the ocean. WOW! They asked us if we'd like a free breakfast to learn about the timeshare during checkin. We politely declined and then had lunch by the pool until our room was ready. We had one more call inviting us, we said "we would rather hang out with family" and that was it. :-) The resort is HUGE. It is walkable everywhere. They have shuttles and we waited at most 3 minutes for one. We brought ponchos for our two kids (6 & 8) - which worked great! The lazy river and slide were fun. There are so many pools that they were never too busy. The wait staff comes by often and are so pleasant. There is a little market onsite where we painted pottery. That was fun for a rainy day (we had many). We also made good use of the plunge pool. Kids club has fun activities for an afternoon or night out. The food onsite is amazing....and they celebrated my daughter's birthday THREE times. That made her feel awesome. The crepe place has gluten free options. Havana has a beautiful view and you can get pizza for the kids from next door. We went to the Sancutario nightly and loved the mariachi band and sand art. It is kid friendly! The mexican fiesta was a bit cheesy. The workout facility is nice. I used the spinning room a couple of times. I watched a class on my iPad using the wifi that was included. It worked great. They came by and gave a cool towel which was a nice touch. They have trails to run too with signs to follow. I got a nice 3 mile run in while touring the grounds. The beach was nice. Not too many people selling items. What was awesome was the turtle sanctuary. Turtles nest on the beach and they relocate the eggs to an enclosed area. If you check it out before 9 am, you will likely see baby turtles! We saw a turtle nest on the beach - and the staff was sure to keep people away and answer questions. Loved it. Also - get a fruity drink from the stand...good price. We got a coconut and they chopped it up to eat and an awesome pineapple drink. It is only 10 minutes from the airport and there is a free shuttle. If you book this place - walk past ALL of the reps that have "vidanta" shirts and signs and go OUTSIDE to where the taxis are. Take a left and walk to where you see the real vidanta people. Ignore the concierge people offering to help. That was our only hiccup on our trip!

Grand Mayan is great

Had a great time and the way they cater to the kids is amazing. A few things could use some minor maintenance but didn't effect our holiday. Definitely coming back

Spectacular

Everything was perfect from the start, Adam was so easy to communicate with. The property is enormous, we have 2 small children who enjoyed all the swim features for kids. Lots of activities, nice gym, fireworks, pool parties, Zumba every morning poolside. A great family resort. The staff was friendly and helpful. We felt very safe and are planning to return after they open the theme park. Immaculate room & grounds.

Gorgeous family resort if you don't explore much

The most beautiful grounds/landscaping I have ever seen. Magical in early morning and at night. Good but pricey restaurants and extremely difficult to leave the I resort to get to other restaurants that are 200 m away as crow flies. Unfortunately a timeshare presentation to get oceanview room and it was the worst high pressure situation of my life. Distracted from the whole experience. If you have a family and just want to stay at the resort it has a huge amount to offer. We just wanted a quiet adult only pool but there wasn't one.

Amazing Resort and great VRBO service by Adam

Adam was an excellent VRBO host and everything came together perfectly. Once you get past the ridiculous check-in process, everything at the resort is fabulous. The wait at check-in is all about getting you on a Timeshare tour; and since we didn't want to do the timeshare tour, we ended up waiting for three hours to get our room. (Frustrating after nine hours of travel.) Now that I know that no one gets a room before 5pm, I wish we had just done the Timeshare tour - at least it would have given us a chance to get a room with an ocean view. That's the only negative thing I have to say about this resort, and once you've checked in, you won't hear about timeshares ever again. I recommend you go speak to the Concierge when you arrive. They have meal-plan tickets for sale and beach party tickets that you won't hear about unless you visit with them. Ask them lots of questions and find out let them tell you all about the resort. If you are from Canada, just bring Peso's - there is no reason to exchange to USD and then Pesos. Everyone at the resort is hard-working and the place is run like a Swiss watch. It's quite amazing, beautiful, impeccably clean and well maintained. The food prices are typical of what you would pay at an American resort hotel - it's not cheap, but it's not ridiculously expensive either. We bought a breakfast / dinner meal plan book (one book for the two of us) and that lasted us for the week. We walked to Cafe Del Lago for a late breakfast / early lunch using our breakfast meal plan tickets / then we used the meal-plan dinner tickets for the fabulous restaurants at dinner. We also bought the party package dinner tickets for a beach party dinner on Monday and Thursday evenings, with free open bar. They were well worth the price paid - good food, great entertainment and waitered service for the open bar. You can also walk along the beach to the Marina and take a water taxi to other areas in Nayarit for a nice change in scenery and a some shopping in a mall. Vidanta's Grand Mayan is a great resort. I loved it and would highly recommend it to any discerning traveler that is hoping for a 4 1/2 or 5-star experience.

Beautiful Resort!

The Grand Mayan was amazing! The staff is so sweet and friendly. They do an excellent job of making you feel welcome and pampered. The resort itself is beautiful and I ve been to some pretty nice places. The beach is sandy but nothing compared to Hawaiis beaches. Still the resort has everything you need and the resturants where great too. Lots of walking, since everything is very spread out, which might not be good for some people but it was ok for us. We will definitely be taking our kids back to this place. Great place for kids with a huge area just for the little ones and no need to leave the resort. We ate out for almost every meal and had lots of drinks and only spent about 650.00 for two people. I thought that was pretty reasonable considering the service and food was great! The one bedroom suite had more then enough room to accommodate up to 6 people. Definitely recommend this resort!
