Casa do Poço – Peaceful Western Algarve Escape

Casa do Poço is a light and airy villa with an open plan design, featuring three double sets of patio doors that fill the space with natural light and open onto the terrace and private garden. The house enjoys lovely views across fields and countryside, offering a relaxing and tranquil setting.

The private garden includes a spacious BBQ area, complete with a hammock and large barbecue, perfect for outdoor dining and unwinding in the Algarve sun.

Located at the edge of the traditional village of Figueira, the villa is within walking distance, around 2.5 km, of two quiet village beaches. Figueira itself is conveniently placed between the calm, family friendly beaches of the south coast, several within walking distance, and the wild, rugged west coast beaches, just a 15 minute drive away.

For golf enthusiasts, Santo António Golf and Leisure Resort is less than 5 minutes away, while a supermarket can be reached in under 1 km. The charming fishing village of Salema, with its variety of restaurants and bars, is also only a short drive. For lively nightlife, pavement cafés, and cosmopolitan energy, Lagos is close by, around 20 minutes away by car.

From the villa, you can enjoy beautiful country walks, with the main road only 300 meters away for easy access to surrounding attractions. Heading west, Sagres and the dramatic Cape St. Vincent, the most south westerly point of Europe, are just 15 minutes away, with countless untouched beaches waiting to be discovered along the way.

Even in the height of summer, Casa do Poço offers a peaceful retreat where you can relax in comfort or explore the Algarve’s stunning coastline.

Please note: the owner’s elderly mother occasionally accesses her home via a gate through the garden.

This was our second time staying here, and it was just as wonderful as the first. We stayed for a full week, and really enjoyed the peace and quiet and natural beauty all around. The house was very clean and comfortable for our family of 6, and we enjoyed the outside deck area, as well as the walk to Figueira beach. Thank you again for a wonderful stay, Grant!

Peace and quite with

If you are looking for peace and quiet but also some sociability around the corner, this house is the perfect place to stay.You have privacy, but a pub/restaurant is less than 5 minutes away. The beach is a bit further, but still within walking distance.The house itself is neat and tidy, and you don't really need to think about anything to bring with you yourself.

"The villa itself was perfect as was the location. We found it clean and comfortable, and all we needed for a relaxing stay. Ate a few times at Rui’s local restaurant too which offered fine value for money and had fun exploring locally as well as going to other areas of the Algarve which were within easy reach. We’re not usually the sort of people to return to the same place again but with your villa this may just be an exception as there was still so much we wanted to do and see but ran out of time. We will be heading back to Portugal again soon enough I’m sure."

Basic but good

We - couple 65+ - stayed in the house for six weeks. The house is situated on a perfect location. A fifteen minute walk will take you to the small secluded beach of Figueira. The N125 road is relatively close and the village itself has some restaurants. The house and amenities are best described as basic. Expect no luxury, but it is clean and has al the functionalities a tenant requires, including private space around the house. We came for rest, clean air, the beach and extensive walking and had a splenid holiday.

House is fine and as advertised. Close to beach. Did not have hot water for first 3 or 4 days. Property owner seems nice and very responsive. The bad new is that a large dog is 75 meters away and he literally barks all night long. Don't know how he can manage it ! I needed ear plugs and white noise music to sleep.

Apartamento limpo, a cama dos 2 quartos fazem barulho e colchões não muito bons, o pior é a cama da sala que é péssima para duas crianças. Einfache und praktische Unterkunft

Wir haben mit unseren 3 Teenagern eine sehr entspannte Zeit hier verbracht. Wobei die Wohnung tatsächlich für 4 Personen besser geeignet wäre. Unser jüngster hat sich mit der Couch im Wohnzimmer begnügt. Die Lage ist gut, Fußweg zum schönen Strand gut machbar, mit dem Auto sind dann einige Ausflüge bequem zu machen. Leider haben die Hunde im Dorf für einen nicht ganz ruhigen Schlaf gesorgt, das kann der Vermieter natürlich nicht beeinflussen. Alles andere hat gepasst. Unkomplizierte Abwicklung und der Kontakt bei Fragen war direkt und freundlich. 2 Schlafzimmer und eine Bettcouch im Wohnzimmer

Schön gelegenes und großes Haus

Das Haus liegt wunderbar zwischen zwei fußläufig erreichbaren Stränden (ca. 30 min. laufen). Es ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet und eignet sich gut für mehrere Personen, da zwei Bäder vorhanden sind. Die Ausstattung des Hauses ist gut. Schön wäre gewesen, wenn zumindest eines der vielen Messer auch scharf gewesen wäre. Die beiden Sofas fand ich ein bisschen schmuddelig und für meinen Geschmack gab es viel zu viele Kissen ;) und Deckchen.

Schönes, kleines, sauberes Haus für 5Pers in toller Lage

Wir (2Erw, 3Kinder, 6-13) haben hier eine wunderbare Woche unseres Urlaubes verbracht, wurden sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit empfangen und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Verschiedene Strände-bei unserem Aufenthalt nur einzelne andere Personen dort- sind in 4-15Fahrminuten erreichbar und lassen keine Wünsche offen. Nette, kleine Lokale fußläufig erreichbar, Supermarkt und Tankstelle in 5Fahrminuten Entfernung. Vielen Dank, wir haben es sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder!!!

Idealer Ausgangspunkt für schöne Wanderungen und Strände

Das Haus war sehr sauber, entsprach genau der Beschreibung. Die Kommunikation mit dem Besitzer war sehr gut und schnell. Grant's Mutter, die direkt nebenan wohnt, war sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich und hat uns mit frischen Handtüchern versorgt. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet, soviel Geschirr und Töpfe haben wir noch nie in einem Ferienhaus vorgefunden. Das Wasser fließt sehr reichlich und schnell sehr warm, auch etwas besonderes im Süden. Es gibt verschiedene Terrassen und ein Gartenstück. Im Wohnraum war es sehr hell, die Möbel sind vielleicht etwas zusammengewürfelt. Es ist ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen zu drei Stränden, die fußläufig erreichbar sind, ebenfalls zum Fischerpfad, der an der Südküste von Sagres bis Lagos verläuft und sehr schön ist. Mit dem Auto ist man sehr schnell an der Westküste und in Lagos. Figueira ist ein kleines, beschauliches protugiesisches Örtchen ohne irgendwelchen Massentourismus, was wir sehr geschätzt haben. Es gibt ein sehr gutes veganes Biorestaurant, eine Pizerria und noch ein Restaurant. Die N125, die vom Haus aus sichtbar verläuft, ist tagsüber nicht störend, nachts völlig ruhig. Aber wie üblich im Süden bellen in der Nacht die Hunde. Wir werden sehr gerne wiederkommen und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Proche des belles plages pour Surfer

Maison spacieuse, agréable et fraîche en été. Très fonctionnelle et très propre. Plage de figueira magnifique et accessible à pieds depuis la maison avec une portion possible en voiture . Il y a un très bon restaurant juste à côté de la maison. Typique et prix très raisonnables. Nous venions pour Surfer. Nous avons trouver l'équipe de freeride à SAGRES très professionnels Vous irez avec eux sur la plage de codoama à un quart d'heure de la maison. Le seul bémol avec cette location c'est la qualité de la literie. C'est vraiment dommage.

Disappointed

We found Casa do Poco functional but far from comfortable. The whole house is in need of updating hugely, from settees which sagged to beds that you could feel the slats of the frame through the mattress. The cooker has paint peeling off the extraction hood and the kitchen in general is very old and worn. Only two towels were provided for a 12 day stay and no change of bedding. The outside space is ok but there are no loungers or recliners for comfortable use, pretty essential as it is very much outdooor living. We were very disappointed and know we paid more than plenty for our stay. Jean, the hostess was very friendly and welcoming.

Sorry you was not happy, but we did everything to provide you with a nice holiday and feel your rating is completely unfair. 2 stars certainly does not reflect the quality of the house. We now have a smart flat screen TV connected to new fast internet. We try our best to ensure guests have everything they need. When we aske was everything ok why didnt you say these things! I think for the 715 euros you paid you had excellent value so am very surprised at your unfair comments.

Schöner Rückzugsort

Das Haus ist sehr günstig im kleinen Ort Figueira gelegen. Dort gibt es einen schönen Strand, den man nur zu Fuß erreicht. Im Ort selber gibt es zwei kleine aber sehr feine Restaurants. Grant selber haben wir nicht kennengelernt, seine Mutter managed alles vor Ort und war sehr hilfsbereit. Wir waren mit unserem KLeinkind dort und haben noch ein exra Bettchen und Bettwäsche bekommen. Die Wohnung hat alles, was man braucht- auch für einen längeren Aufenthalt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Vielen Dank für alles.

Great location at the end of the village and close to many lovely beaches south and west coast the best part of the Algarve, and best beaches in Europe.

What makes this property unique

The Villa is situated at the end of the village enjoying lovely country views to the west, and close to all amenities. A track passes to the north side where donkey and cart can be seen regulary passing next to the cottage. Even in the middle of a busy Algarve summer, you can relax and unwind at the cottage or one of the quiet local beaches. For a vibrant night life visit the close by historic port of Lagos, today a cosmopolitan town with various pavement restaurants, cafes and bars.
Figueira now by-passed by the main Lagos to Sagres road, is only 5 minutes from the Parque da Floresta Golf and Leisure resort. Salema, a typical Portuguese fishing village is also only 5 minutes away and has a nice variety of restaurants and bars. 15 mins west lies sagres and the spectacular headland of cape St Vincent, the most south westerly point of Europe. North of St Vincent you can find many wild and rugged beaches. Here you can enjoy some virtually empty beaches by exploring the many dust tracks leading to the coast! Figueira has two quiet and safe beaches within walking distance of the cottage. For the energetic enjoy the many rural and coastal walks, leading as far as the cape itself.
The old village of Figueira is still a typical example of rural Algarve life and virtually unaffected by modern day tourism. Small whitewashed houses in a maze of narrow winding cobbled streets, are now complimented by a few small restaurants, some bars and a couple of minimarkets. Here you can still purchase freshly caught fish and newly baked bread! "
