Farmhouse Near The Bastide Village Of Monflanquin, Lot-et-Garonne, Aquitaine
Welcome to Peyre Blanc! Peyre Blanc means white stone in French. This farmhouse which dates back to 1836 and was once used as a smithery, is an excellent example of the beautiful white stone that enriches the local region. The farmhouse is set on one acre of land in a scenic rural setting. It is five kilometres from the enchanting medieval bastide village of Monflanquin. The farmhouse has been refurbished and the beautiful stone work restored. The smithery has been converted to a living room and retains many of its original features with large arched windows, solid oak work benches and forged iron tools.

A month to remember
I'm sorry that I haven't reviewed this property before now but I must say that I have stayed in many places in Europe and this one is a standout . I give it 9 out of 10 and the only reason I can't give it a 10 is there is only one bathroom, however we had 7 persons staying for a week during our stay and it didn't really bother anybody. The location is ideal, must have a car though with lots too see and do visiting all the small towns and sights. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. A quiet location even it is not too far from the main road to Villeneuve sur Lot. The appointments and furnishings are fantastic with a great kitchen with all the utensils you need. There is also a rustic outdoor area where we ate mostly and a large lounge room with cable TV. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our months stay and would not only go back but recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant place to stay while in France. Many thanks to Bart and Monica for having us in their holiday home.

About the host

I now live in Australia (after meeting my wife in London)with my wife and 2 kids, but I am originally from Belgium. We come back every year to Monflanquin and just can't get enough of this region. Every year we discover other things to do!
Why they chose this property
We came to this region first in 2003, when my mother had moved from Belgium to not too far from here, so we now had to visit her in another country. But luckily she had chosen well and we fell so much in love with this part of the world that we just had to have our own little retreat here. And so we did: multiple years of working holidays and with the help of my mother and her husband managing when we were overseas, we are very pleased with the end result.
What makes this property unique
The property is just a few kilomters out of the centre of Monflanquin and is also not too far from Villeneuve-sur-Lot (about 15km), which makes it very convenient from a shopping perspective. Apart from that, everything that one could need is close at hand: good food, markets, wineries of the Bergerac area, castles (ruins and intact ones), bastide villages, ancient caves, treewalks, plenty of other walks, nice pools in Monflanquin and Pujols (15km), water sports including kajaking and canoeing, even golf is not that far.
