About this property
Padstow, walk to the beach, family & pet friendly, open fire, coastal footpath
Bloomfield is a very traditional Cornish cottage, with original features, that has recently gone through a very sympathetic renovation. A secluded, completely enclosed garden in the back is a sun trap and the perfect setting for a relaxing summer's evening. Trevone Bay is not only famous for its beach, loved by surfers and families alike, but also for its proximity to great walks around the cliffs. The cottage is situated in the heart of the small village of Trevone, a few miles from Padstow, and very close to all the other excellent beaches of the North coast of Cornwall. Fantastic stay at Bloomfield. Everything was as described. The gift of scones and milk was much appreciated. Property was clean and had everything we needed. Outside shower was useful. It’s a 10 minute walk to beach (slightly uphill on way back). Parking is on street outside the property which involved some nifty parallel parking into a tight space. As others have mentioned, the steps up to the property may be tricky for elderly or more infirm guests.Farm shop directly opposite property and Padstow is only 5 minute drive.
Enjoyed 4 fabulous days in Trevone. Location is amazing and cottage very cosy. Would recommend

Nice quiet property. Awkward parking. Nowhere near the property to eat out until after 4:30.
Property was clean, showering was very awkward. Tiny electric one in the bath was dangerous. One in the leantoo (not a conservatory) was was almost an outside shower. We were lucky the weather was warm or the shower would have been in a very cold place.
We still enjoyed the stay as the bed was good.
Everything as listed. The shower in the conservatory was handy for washing the sand off, rather than getting it in the house. All kitchen equipment you could ever need for a self-catering stay. Only comment to others is no "essentials" that are often in self-catering accommodation (salt/pepper, oil, sugar etc), but not a problem if you know in advance.Property is a good location, and we walked to/from Padstow, to Padstow via the coast and back across the fields.
The house had everything we needed and it’s in a great situation for coastal walks or exploring locally especially Trevose head.
There are quite a few steep steps up to the property.
We had a great time in this lovely cottage. It had all you could ask for, comfortable quiet and cosy. Well equipped and best of all sea views from some of the rooms. Adriana left welcome gifts and has been really helpful. It made a great family holiday, with happy adults and teenagers.
Good location near padstow Newquay truro
Comfortable cottage not too posh that you feel worried especially with children or dogs
Very well kitted out with lots of extras.
Only problem would be the stairs to the front door for the elderly.
Bloomfield was cute but a little bit tired decoration wise. Could have done with a little more comfort in sitting room, maybe a rug and better lighting. Front door was not very secure and internal doors a bit rattely. Kitchen was well equipped. Bedroom linen was good. Lovely views from upstairs. Lady who looked after it was very helpful and very easy to contact.
I had such a lovely stay here, in this very traditional, old, Cornish cottage. Although dated in many ways (others have commented on the various repairs that could be done), I think this is part of it's charm and the home offers a great deal of comfort. A very well equipped kitchen, of a good size, with a conservatory that is perfect for reading in and soaking up the sun on cooler days. The bedrooms were lovely, all fresh clean linen, comfortable mattresses, and a wonderful bookshelf, with a great variety of kids and grown-ups books! Location couldn't be better, a short walk fro the beach and Trevone has a lovely community feel to it. Thank you for sharing your home!
Location is great and within easy walk of the beach and Padstow.
Kitchen well equipped with pans, cups, plates etc. Bedrooms are a good size.
On street parking is a bit of a pain and it’s not always possible to park directly outside. The conservatory at the back needs repairing and leaks in the rain, also doors not secure. A shame also that we could not use the fireplaces as the chimneys had not been swept.
Overall a good place for a family to stay, although only one WC does require patience and planning!

A filthy accommodation
On arrival we noticed some blinds and the bathroom area were not as clean as should be. Messaged the owner who apologised. Next morning had a good look at the property. Cooker and kitchen utensils were filthy, there was no way we would cook our Christmas meal in that kitchen. Fire extinguisher was rusty and no indication of annual checks. Other areas dirty, rusty radiator, no hot water for bath or washing up. No information pack. Messaged owner again that morning, Christmas eve, she could do nothing as lives out of the UK, no one local to address the issues, told her we were leaving that day and expected a full refund of our fees. Also emailed Vrbo, some exchange of emails but they've now closed the exchange.
To date, two weeks later, still only part refund and no offer of compensation for our experience in such poor accommodation.
We will not be using this site again, and if anyone was asking for my advice re which site to use it wouldn't be this one.

About the host
Hosted by Adriana Bringuenti
I am a Brazilian lady who have been living in the UK for 32 years, 28 of which in Cornwall where I have made my home and can't think of leaving this place. I have always lived in this area, first in Bloomfield, Padstow for 12 years, where I have Skye Cottage (E6571) and now in Mawgan Porth. I am married to a local chap and both my daughters were born here, where they follow on their dad's footsteps playing golf, surfing and life-guarding during the Summer.
Why they chose this property
Bloomfield Cottage has a special place in my heat. I bought it in 1995 and lived there for seven years, when I had my daughters, who left the house still very young. They don't remember much from this time, but every time I go, I can see them running around. We used to take them down to the beach the whole year round, regardless of the weather, and the coloured glass bits framing the shower in the conservatory were collected by them on Rocky beach when they were toddlers. My husband and I bought the house from his parents and we are the fourth generation to own it. We have put it on the market twice and given up on the idea. I just cannot bring myself to sell it!
What makes this property unique
The house is a above all a family home. And that's the feeling most people take from it, I'm glad to say. Apart from the beach nearby, the walks are legendary. You can reach Padstow on a beautiful coastal walk or go the other way to Harlyn Beach, which is dog friendly the whole year round. Not being too big, make it easy to heat so the cottage is as pleasant in the Summer as it is in the Winter. Two fire places help, as well. The house dates back to the end of 19th century and it is a work in progress. We have made several reforms over the years but have tried our best to keep its original features.
