About this property

Beautiful secluded woodland setting with private pool. 5k to beach.


Castagneto Carducci, famous for its award-winning wines, is approx. 70km from Pisa airport (50 min drive on the autostrada) and on a hilltop about 6 km inland from lovely sandy beaches. Pisa, Florence, Lucca, San Gimignano and Siena are within easy driving distance. 2 km of well maintained white road leads past vineyards and woodland, up to the house. The pool is on a terrace above the house, with a panoramic view of the village and the coast. The house boasts traditional beams and 'cotto' tiles, with a loggia terrace perfect for dining in summer, and a wood oven and bbq on the outside terrace. Four Bedrooms, (2 double, 2 twin), Two bathrooms. Thick walls and a gentle early afternoon breeze often blowing from the sea ensure that the heat of summer is rarely excessive. The pool is on a terrace above the house, with panoramic views too the village and the sea.

We bought the house 35 years ago and completely renovated it over the years. It has very special memories for family and friends holidaying there every year.

Why they chose this property

It offers the best of both worlds : old house with thick walls keeps cool in the summer and yet the sea, shops and restaurants are just 6 minutes away.

What makes this property unique

The location with lots of hilltop villages plus the beaches and the easy access to places of interest is quite different from 'chiantishire' and very Italian. The nearby village of Bolgheri (which comes under Castagneto) produces the top award-winning wine every year.
