Secluded location at end of private track surrounded by wildlife with a private beach at the bottom of the garden. Spent evenings watching the sunset across the Solway Firth. Very relaxing and so peaceful. Comfortable well-equipped cottage. Would love to come back next year.
A wonderful location right on the beach. We saw deer and rabbits within a few metres of the cottage. A great holiday!
Directions could have better. Postcode took us to other side of road but luckily bumped into the owner.

Hi Kirsty, many thanks for your kind review. We are delighted to hear you had a great holiday at Kirkdale Port! You are quite right, satnav does centre our postcode, which covers a number of properties on the Estate, up the hill towards the farm. We try to mitigate against this and detail this in our directions on our website but I agree when you reach the Estate satnav can suggest turning up the hill rather than down so I am glad you found Neil and he was able to point you in the right direction! Thank you for coming to holiday at Kirkdale and we hope to hear from you again. With best wishes, Neil and Kirsten Hannay
About the host
Hosted by Kirsten Hannay
Kirkdale Estate cottages are situated on a private working estate, Kirkdale Estate, home to the Hannay family for 500 years. The two cottages, Kirkdale Bank and Kirkdale Port, sit about a quarter of a mile apart from each other and have been lovingly refurbished with the aim of giving them as many home comforts as possible - woodburning stoves, free logs central heating, shower, bath, freezer, washer/dryer, black-out lined curtains (for good nights sleep), pocket sprung mattresses, selection of pillows. Both have enclosed gardens and are pet friendly. Toys, games and books are in the properties.
There is so much to see and do in the area and we are always very happy to help with suggestions for nearby activities or places to see and lovely restaurants and cafes to visit also.

The cottage is only 5 minutes from popular Gatehouse of Fleet. Kirkcudbright Artist's town is only 15 minutes. Castle Douglas Food Town and Wigtown Scotland's book town are both within around 20 minutes.
Galloway Forest Park, UK's only gold tier dark skies are on our doorstep. As are the famous 7Stanes mountain biking trails and forest trails. We have beautiful beaches along the coast, fishing, sea angling, golf, tennis, horse riding and sailing all nearby.
