The condo is beautifully decorated and we loved the close proximity of the unit to the elevator. The kitchen is very well-stocked with everything you could need. The resort staff is friendly and helpful. We thoroughly appreciated the pool and hot tub after a fun day of skiing! Huge bonus for us is that the resort is all one building so you don't have to brave the cold when walking from the pool area to your room.

The property is unique and has gorgeous views. Our room was good. It was clean, but showing a good deal of wear & tear. The kitchen cooking & eating utensils were in poor shape & we had 1 coffee cup and 2 plastic cups which is not enough for a family of 5. Overall though the condo was nice.
The property itself was ok. The views were gorgeous & the staff friendly but the pool was a bit dirty, the hot tub turned green & broke, the saunas weren’t working and the parking is a nightmare.
Guest are not allowed to park up at the property because it’s for residence . They have a shuttle service, but it becomes burdensome to use & can get very back uped.
I’m glad we stayed here, but will look elsewhere next visit.

Better Places to Stay
This condo was not cleaned prior to our arrival and it smelled. We called the owner and he suggested we leave and come back after 8pm and it would be done. Easier said than done with an infant past his bedtime , not to mention we needed wifi for a meeting. The owner was apologetic, but didn't really make it right. Looking back in the comments this has happened before although he said it was the first time.
The condo is poorly located on the floor right above reception were the shuttle and everybody who is loading and unloading parks. During the summer, you will hear everything going on down there throughout the night especially if it is warm and you have the windows open.

We apologize the cleaners missed the schedule and rushed to clean the condo as soon as they realized the turn around had been missed. For this reason we no longer have new guests arrive on the same day as guest leaving. The condo is directly over the reception area, and the parking lot wraps around the entire building. If you have windows open and don’t have the fans on exterior noises will be heard.
Sugar Top did not disappoint. We had a wonderful time with our stay. We will definitely be back again. It was a perfect location.

Unvilivable the apartment 2112 never in my live come again to rent it, was horrible the bathrooms have trash, dirty, used towel, the kitchen have enty water bottle and totally nasty, sorry but is true.
Even though it wasn't really an issue, the listing did not state that there is no a/c in the building and that you have to ride a shuttle to and from your vehicle. The a/c is not an issue because the air is so cool on top of the mountain. The shuttle runs all the time and there was only one time we really had to wait so it wasn't really an inconvenience to us but some people might be upset that they didn't know this ahead of time. Thanks for a beautiful condo.

Owners and building staff were very nice; the shuttle, laundry, hot water and drive down were issues
Really enjoyed the staff and owner, property was clean and views were great! For those bring family (3 or more) please note:
The hot water heater is good for 1 hot shower or bath before needing to reheat for 20 minutes.
There is no laundry in the condo, the closest washer/dryer are commercial (2-3 loads) cost $5.50 for wash and 25 cents per 5 minutes on the dryer. It is down a long hallway as well. There are single load w/d on other floors. Fine for two people, however for families staying more than a few weeks; it gets expensive.
The worst issue of all is the shuttle situation (no fault of owner); we stayed in June and was told by security that we would have to park in lot C and take the shuttle up the steep hill to the condo. I was told the parking lot at the condo was for “owners”, however half the spots were for guests and the lot was never full. Despite the empty spaces we were told we would have to take the shuttle. We were also told we could not park in lot A, which is a short walk to the condo even though it has 42 empty spots the entire time we were there (30 days). Again, this is fine for a couple staying the weekend; however when you have to grocery shop for 5 people; drop and pickup kids from camp every and load/unload bags; it is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!
The other thing to note if you are driving a mini van or other heavy vehicle; the drive from the condo down to the main road is straight down and very curvy. You have to put your vehicle in 3rd gear or your breaks will be smoking as mine did.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay, both Banner Elk and Boone are 15-25 minutes away and TONS of stuff to do for both kids and adults. The owners always responded in a matter of minutes and the staff were always friendly.

The furniture in the living room was not comfortable. Plus there were no end tables to put our things on like a cup of coffee, iPad, phone, etc. it was all real cute and the kitchen had enough for our needs. The beds were great, we slept well. There were plenty of linens for our use. Fantastic views!
First time to the mountains and it was AMAZING!! View was breath taking and everyone was so nice!! Cindy, our shuttle driver was awesome!! Would recommend to anyone
Was a great getaway while we toured colleges for my child. Beautiful views and relaxing atmosphere. Clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend to friends and family
This property was absolutely perfect for my friends and I. It was a short drive to the ski resort and grandfather mountain. There was plenty of room for the five of us. There was everything we needed. We did not end up even needing to use the air mattress the owner provided, as the couch was very big and comfortable. The shuttle drivers were all very friendly as well.
The property was better than I thought when we arrived. The condo had all what you needed. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed linens were nice and soft, bath towels were provided but not pool towels, plenty of kitchen towels to use. Comfy couch. We stayed in the master king bedroom and it was very nice. It was very convenient to have the floor stand fan in the room since it didn't have a ceiling fan. It made sleeping better since we are used to sleeping with a fan and it was very thoughtful of the owners to put a TV in the master bedroom as well. Our friends stayed in the twin bedroom and they said the mattress was not so comfortable for adults, but children would be fine in there. We recommend putting a memory foam mattress topper on both the twin beds so adults could sleep comfortably on it. Wished there was a washer/dryer in the room instead of going to the laundry facility, but we managed and it was all fine. Would definitely stay here again, it was very comfortable and close to Sugar Mountain Skiing.
Suggestions to the owners:
-change the shower heads to dual with hand spray and the shower head.
- provide pool towels to guest or mention it in the listing to bring your own pool towels
-matress pads on all beds
-blankets for the couch
-replace glasses that are already broken or cracked
Wonderful property, very cozy. Beautiful view, great amenities. Excellent host, very fast response times. If its a busy weekend be prepared to have to take a shuttle back and forth to your vehicle.
The condo sits on top of a mountain so the views are amazing.
The interior of the condo is even better than the website photos.
The unit had not been cleaned, but the owner worked with me to make it right.
The condo is a good value.
We loved the property, our only complaint is that the parking system is very inefficient and one of the men working the gate was pretty rude. Other than that, we had a great experience!
Very clean place and friendly owners. Would recommend to anyone.
Place is very clean and kitchen has everything what you need to stay and cook for the family. We enjoyed staying at this place. Cable TV only worked in master bedroom, but not in the living room, but it is not disappointed us, as we are not fans of TV. I would definitely comeback again to that place. Thank you for keeping place nice and neat.
This condo was perfect for our family of four. There was plenty of room and the furnishings were very warm and welcoming. The beds were comfortable and the indoor pool and hot tub were exactly what we needed. Close to everything but away enough to catch some beautiful views. Highly recommend!
Great sunrises and sunsets; nice condo set up and comfortably equipped. Loved all the bears. We had a little hiccup at check in and the owner and condo management team were fabulous at identifying and resolving the issue. Our stay affirmed our expectations that late November can bring cold temps and strong winds to Sugar Top and we were mostly prepared. Once inside, the condo was warm and cozy. We had a good week!
We enjoyed our stay, although the weather didn't cooperate until our last day. But the view was beautiful the day we left. Everything was clean and well stocked.

About the host
Hosted by Dale Williams
This property was purchased by our parents and we have been coming to the mountains of Western North Carolina for over 30 years. Now we are able to enjoy the beauty of western North Carolina with our children and grandchildren.
Why they chose this property
Sugartop is probably the best property of its type in the area because of the views, amenities, security, and the amount of things to do within just a short drive.
What makes this property unique
As long as the temperature is over 60, I find that we spend our time on the balcony during the daylight hours enjoying the breeze and the views.
