The guest house was perfect for our trip. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the birds. The laundry was extremely helpful. Would love to stay there again
Everything was perfect. Well stocked kitchen, beautiful grounds, off the beaten path which is something we look for. Keeau is a charming town with decent food options.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property was well maintained and conveniently located between Hilo and Pahoa. It’s on a dead end road which gives you added privacy. It was well equipped and maintained. The owners were friendly and accommodating.
The Guest House was an amazing place to stay! It wasn’t hot at all, even without an air conditioner it stayed really cool in the night. During the day, it was the perfect little quiet slice of heaven (or Hawai’i!). I will be booking with Laura and Aki the next time I visit the big island!
Highly recommend! The host was lovely and kind - communication was prompt & easy. The location is in a nicer residential area and we felt very safe. The check in process was a breeze. The guest house was just what we needed with plenty of amenities, as described, for our needs. The guest house was conveniently located in the area we wanted to explore - close to sunrise view points, natural features to explore in the South and Southeast part of the island. Reasonable drive to the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and quick drive into Hilo, too. The surrounding area was quieter (away from city noise), which we appreciated, too. We found the property to be clean, tidy, well-appointed with everything we could need and more! - the host has all kinds of supplies if you forget something or find you need something and don't want to rent yourself. We chose this property for access to the washer/dryer so that we could pack light, which was fantastic. Check out was simple, too. Would absolutely stay again! Thank you to our host for a terrific experience and stay. Much appreciation!
The guest house was the perfect stay for us. It was private, spacious, fully equipped with all you could need and tastefully decorated. The grounds were beautiful and well manicured. We were able to enjoy our days out at the beach and then come back and enjoy a meal from the grill. Having a washer/dryer was another great addition.
What a lovely place to stay while the festival was going on! Orchid House is situated on a beautifully lush acre. Cottage is well stocked, comfortable and perfect for friends to share.
Mahalo!
If you are looking for privacy and quiet, this is a gem of a rental. Away from the hubbub of downtown Hilo, this property is a guest house to the main residence in Paradise Park, a large residential development roughly 12 miles or so south of downtown Hilo. The hosts, Laura and Aki are the most wonderful and helpful people. You have a huge covered patio with two lounging areas and a table with 4 chairs if you want to eat outside. The grounds are private and very restful at the end of the day, with countless birds chirping, and frogs singing. You really feel like you are a part of nature. The kitchen is supplied for light cooking with olive oil, vinegars and various sauces & dried herbs available to share. There is a microwave, an outdoor BBQ, a 2 burner hotplate, and a multi-function countertop oven/air fryer. Google maps will get you right to the address. The one thing to be aware of is rush hour traffic. Coming in to Hilo in the morning or leaving Hilo in the afternoon, 12 miles can take 40 minutes (or more). We just planned our activities around those times and found it so satisfying to come back to the property in the afternoon, that it wasn’t really a problem. But you do need to plan accordingly, especially if you have early morning activities in Hilo. This was our first visit to Hilo. I would not hesitate to book this property again. Perfect for a couple. It is also a very easy drive up to Volcanoes National Park to see Kilauea in action!
Very nice place in a somewhat remote area, although there are neighbors. Small but comfortable house, excellent patio, and very beautiful yard, bordered by jungle. Feel asleep to the songs of the coqui frogs every night. Good market and shops in Pahoa, about 15 minutes drive. Hilo is close to 30 minutes away.
A problem with the water came up a the day before our stay, but Aki and Laura had it taken care of before we arrived, and communicated very well. Very happy with the way they handled the unexpected situation. Great hosts!
Highly recommended! This was a move for us, not a vacation, so, like most moves, it was quite stressful but Laura was always kind & patient & understanding of our situation.
Def made things SO much easier. And her home was so cute & cozy! Thank you so much!!!
Great place to stay if you are visiting Pahoa, I would highly recommend.
Our experience was amazing from the first contact I had with the property. Aki & Laura made sure we had good instructions on getting to the property and access our guest house. Everything was clean and my granddaughters loved playing in the large yard and they had so many toys to keep them plenty busy.
Great accommodations, beautiful landscaping, peaceful setting (after getting used to the Coqui frogs
Outstanding, we'd book here again.
Oli surullista, ettemme tavanneet talon isäntä.
Just outstanding. Oli valitettavaa, ettemme tavanneet talon isäntää. Haluaisin puhua hänen kanssaan.
Very clean,. Although, you must travel down LONG dusty road to get to location.
Warm, although they have fans. I was charged an additional $15 for my young daughter, although we all slept in the same bed. Beautiful landscaping and secure. As a local, I would not recommend booking this location on VRBO.
We had a perfect stay in this beautiful guest house in Keaau. It was exactly as advertised. Check in was easy. The property was clean and well maintained. The owners are very kind and responsive. We loved the gorgeous backyard. One night we drove all the way to Mauna Kea to see the stars and when we got back we found that the view was actually comparable on a clear night in the garden - what an unexpected bonus! In our experience, we needed to factor in about 20 extra minutes of driving time for the activities we wanted to do (as opposed to staying in Hilo or Volcano) but the comfort, beauty, and serenity here was well worth it. We would definitely stay here again.
The cottage is very cozy.. The view was amazing. Very large and open yard, with fruit trees. Oranges, Limes.and Avocado. Aki and Laura was very attentive to any questions that I had. They gave good instructions to get to the place. There was bath towels, hand towels, kitchen towels, beach towels, cooler bag, and beach chairs.
